Uchiha Itachi wasn't one for listening to gossip, however this particular rumour, he could't ignore.

"Did you hear? That girl from 1B is amazing with a sword. Kinda wish I took sensei up on that offer now."

"And that Uchiha, Itachi I think, that kid's a genius. Damn these newbis are something else."

"Ya and she's an orphan too."

ITACHI's POV

'Honoka? She uses a sword? She didn't use it yesterday when we were training.'

Confused, I walk on towards my mostly vacant classroom. I did always arrive earlier than most of my classmates so I wasn't all that surprised to only see a short brunette boy with bangs covering most of his upper face. The boy, Yachiro Okanai, I believe is his name, was always quiet only talking when teachers asked him something or when answering something.

I sat down on my usual seat and stared out of the window to my left side, thinking about what my upperclassmen had said earlier. It wasn't bothering my that much, I'm just wondering why she didn't train with the sword as well.

'They're talking about me.' She sighed as she stood up from her seat near the window. The 6th period just ended and it was now lunch. Not wanting to make the same mistake as last time, she instead went to the roof which she presumed to be empty.

This was the final time their meeting was caused be chance. From now on their relationship was in fate's misleading hands.

This time the roles were switched as Itachi was the one who reached their shared destination first, and Honoka the one who refused his offer to leave. They sat there in silence, eating their lunch. The air around them think, almost suffocating, both had things on their minds but neither wanted to be the first to break the tension surrounding them. With each second the pressure intensified, if it continued then it might even become visible.

"You know how to used a sword?"

Itachi asked, a almost inaudible sigh escaping his lips after the words left his mouth. Instantly, the atmosphere around the two 6 year olds lifted, allowing them to breath properly again.

Honoka was relieved, she know that this topic would come up but didn't want to be the one tom bring it to life. This would be easier then she'd expected, he didn't seem mad, so that would make it easier.

'Why did I even think he'd be mad in the first place? I'm so stupid'

A much more audible sigh escaped own parted lips as she prepared to answer the patient boy infront of her. Somehow she didn't think that was actually what he wanted to know from her.

"Yes, I might be an orphan but I have been able to impress a Chuunin enough to teach me the basics of swordsmanship, and he just ended up teaching me all the other necessary skills. Although he couldn't teach me further because of his missions so I've just been refining what he's already thought me up until now."

Itachi nodded his head in understanding, he looked away from the view of Konoha and to his eating companion, she, just like himself a moment ago, was staring at their village stretching far ahead, and the vast greenery extending even further beyond.

Silence once again engulfed the pair, but this time it was different, unlike the suffocating force crushing and leaving them unable to properly breath, it was comforting, warm and inviting.

"Itachi, why did you decide you wanted to become a Shinobi? I understand that there aren't many other options but still, why choose this messed up path. You're smart, I know you've realized it too, to fight as a Shinobi, you're basically signing your own death warrant with each and every mission you go on. So why?"

"Death and destruction plague this world like a never ending virus, contamination is inevitable, those who are pure of it cannot hold onto that title for long. I wish to remove that virus from our world, to purge it, and my only hope of doing so is to become a Shinobi, a tool, a weapon of mass destruction. So, my reason for choosing this messed up path in life filled to the brim with the blood of others is, to save the world we live in.

They sat there for a moment longer, contemplating the words of a child who's seen too much of this cruel world. That, unfortunately, was the life they were born into. Children who chose this path would either have to learn at a young age what this world was truly like or die ignorant.

"I see, I'm glad."

"Why?"

"I knew your reason would be something like that but I just needed to know why. Cause for some reason I don't think I want you to die."

"Hm, neither do I, Honoka."

The bell rang in the background, signifying the end of their conversation. The two pack up the half eaten bento's and headed back to their respected classrooms. Itachi's, being the closest of the two, heads to open the door but pauses and turns towards the silver haired girl walking further up ahead abd curiosity clouding his judgement he calls out her name, she turned and stared at the ravenette in confusion.

"What about you?"

Knowing exactly what he was asking for, she stood still for a moment while contemplating her answer for a moment before preparing what seemed like a long and tiring speech.

"Answers, not as grand a goal as you but that's my reason, I want answers for the death of my parents and brother. That is my reason for becoming a Shinobi, for becoming this village's tool. In all honesty it's my only reason for living as long as I have. I just want to know, but I guess making a friend or two wouldn't hurt."

Slowly as the young boy heard those words a small, rare smile found it's way onto his lips, his eyes softening slightly while staring into he electrifying blue orbs. She somehow seemed to be glowing as a grin plastered onto her dainty figure. He wanted to look away, her brightness burning him, stinging his eyes, but he couldn't, something drew his eyes to her and forced him to fight the pain in his deep onyx eyes.

He was a shadow, nothing more. Could he really be by her side if she shone this brightly? That question plagued his mind like a disease, threatening his life. He was just about to leave when her next words made him stop dead in his tracks.

"Uchiha Itachi, will you be my friend?"

That's the end of the chapter, or is it the beginning of a new friendship? Nobody knows. Well what do you guys think, was I able to express Itachi and his dream properly? I think I did a pretty good job on that one but either way tell me what you think in a review. As always I don't mind the hate comments but I'd prefer constructive criticism.

PS. You guys know that the school's reopening soon so because of that I'll only be able to update weekends, if I don't update one week then I'll release 2 chapters the next week so ya that's all I needed to tell you. Bye-bye, see you next time.
