DESCLAIMER: I do not own Naruto

Heya guys! Welcome back to blanketing memories, this is my 5th chapter and I hope you enjoy it.

ITACHI's POV

It had been two whole weeks since Ichiro-sensei transfered me to the next grade and honestly, it was no better that the first year. They haven't even started shuriken training yet. The classroom only had two available seats, in the front row next to the window. I took the one directly next to it.

After the day on the roof me and Honoka-chan became quite close. Even after my transfer we still ate lunch together, and in the evening after class we went to the training ground.

Sometime in the two weeks Shisui returned from his mission and helped her with her kenjutsu since he has had some experience wielding a blade.

During that short timeframe our relationship grew, at a snail's pace yes, but grew nonetheless.

Today, as I sat there amongst the loud chatter of my classmates I found myself thinking about my friend. We haven't talked since three days ago and I was starting to get worried, she doesn't train with me and Shisui anymore and she doesn't wait at the academy entrance for him anymore.

This topic occupied his mind through the day, his body went on autopilot as his brain worked on overdrive. During lunch he went to her class, expecting to see his silver haired friend but was disappointed to see not even a single hear of silver hair in the crowd of students vacating the classroom for break.

He spotted her sensei, Horiko-sensei, he dodged the energetic kids as he made his way to the sighing young woman.

"Horiko-sensei."

The woman seemed to be startled as she jumped from her seat, eyes wide with surprise.

"Oh Uchiha-san, you startled me. How have you been, enjoying the second grade?"

She wiped the sweat from her brow and sat back down on her chair.

"I'm doing fine sensei, but have you seen Chiba-san recently?"

The female Chuunin's smile faded, replaced with a frown. She stared at the boy for a moment before answering his question.

"Now that you mention it I haven't. She hasn't been in class since 3 days ago. I asked the others in my class but they have no idea. May I ask why you want to know?"

"We usually train together in the evenings after class but she hasn't showed up for a few days. I was hoping to be able to talk with her but if she's not here then I apologize for my interruption."

As he turned to the doorway, intent on leaving the exhausted teacher to her own devices. Plans for the day already brewing in his young mind. First of which is visiting the orphanage.

Time felt as though it was moving in slow motion, it was torture to the young genius. By the time the bell rang, ending the teacher's lession, the Uchiha was already reviewing his plans as he packed his things and got up from his seat. As he was about to leave with the rest of his class the teacher stopped him.

"Uchiha-san, can I have a moment of your time?"

The ravenette mentally cursed his bad luck, turning, he faced his sensei and waited expectantly for the man to begin.

"I think you might want to take a seat. This will take a while."

Doing as his teacher instructed he sat on a nearby chair. he was about to say something when his sensei beat him to it.

"Uchiha-san I'm aware of the fact that you're a prodigy and it has come to my attention that this grade is not..."

The teacher and student pairing's conversation continued as such, with the older trying to explain the current situation to the other, and the younger trying to finish it as quickly as possible.

Ten minutes later the conversation finally came to an end and the two left the mostly empty building. The ravenette picked up the pace as he and his sensei parted ways at the entrance. Racing towards his destination, the orphanage, and enters.

"Excuse me ma'am."

An elderly woman, possibly in her 60's turned upon hearing a young boy's voice calling out to her. The first thing of the boy she saw was his dark raven coloured hair, then his pale skin, and after that his deep onyx eyes staring back at her. Plastering a sweet smile onto her face, she greeted the boy in front of her.

"Hello little on, what can I do for you?"

"I'm sorry for bothering you so late ma'am, but is Chiba Honoka here by any chance?"

"Oh? Are you one of her friends? That's strange, why wouldn't she tell you? She was adopted by a man, a Chuunin I think, that was a few days ago I think."

"I see, thank you ma'am. Is it possible for you to tell me who adopted her?"

"I'm sorry little one, that's against our policy, I'm sorry."

Bowing Itachi left the building and headed towards the training ground he frequented first alone, then with his cousin and after that with his newfound friend.

'Where are you Honoka?' he thought, his body automatically falling into the two's routine. His mind once again drifting deeper into his thoughts. 'If she's not in class tomorrow then I'll have to ask Shisui for help.'

Days...

Days passed with no sign of the girl, Shisui and Itachi's mother Mikoto joined the academy student in his search for this silver haired companion.

...One week...

When the week mark hit and they still had no idea where she was, Mikoto filed a missing person's report at the Uchiha police force and, considering who filed the case, they were on it in mere moments.

...Two weeks...

By two weeks the force still had no leads on her whereabouts. The woman Itachi had spoken with earlier was brought in for questioning, as well as every other caretaker in the orphanage. The man that adopted her faked his information, Yumiko Hanzaki didn't exist. This wasn't an ordinary kidnapping, no leads, no witnesses, no traces. they were skilled and obviously planned this crime out thoroughly. The two were gone, like they vanished into thin air.

...One month...

One month. One whole month had massed since he'd last seen her. Worry was now a near permanent expression on his face. His figure thin to the point that his bones were starting to show, his skin a deathly pale and dark circles rested under his dull onyx eyes, a sign of his countless nights of insomnia. Even in his state of mind, he could see the fire that once resided in his mother's and Shisui's eyes slowly dwindle away to nothingness, as if a tap was gradually dripping water onto the entrancing flame, slowly, at a snail's pace it increased it's outlet. The fire, now weaker than even, couldn't hold out...and died.

He wouldn't let his flames die out, he wouldn't give up' never. How, he doesn't know but in the short amount of time they knew each other she had somehow found a way to break through all the barricades he had placed in front of his heart. She just waltzed in unceremoniously like she didn't just blast the doors to his heart off their hinges, all while giving him a wild, toothy grin that always brought a smile to his pale face, why wouldn't it, he was the only person privileged enough to see it on her.

Uchiha Itachi, even in his current state, wasn't as weak as others may think he is. He still kept up with his training, making sure to not let his skills rust, he had to after all, he couldn't let something like this happen again, he NEVER wanted something like this to happen again.

ITACHI's POV

August 17, today's date. The police have given up hope and closed the case, mother and Shisui stopped searching a while later as well. I'm the only one still looking for her,This is hell.

I snuck out of the village, I've done it every second day for the past few weeks since the police and my family gave up on Honoka. This was nothing new and by now I knew my way around fairly well. However that only ment I was going through the same area over, and over, and over again. I need to extend my search area. So I did, and to my luck I did find something, it was her Wakizashi.

I ran...

...And ran.

To my mother, to Shisui? I didn't know, I just ran back, her cold blade tightly held in my grip. As if it was my newborn brother Sasuke I was holding. This was it, proof, something they lacked.

On my short legs it took my a while to get back to the compound but I made it, my mother turned off the pots and rushed to the police force with the newfound evidence.

The force was in destress as they rushed to find the missing girl, and they did. How I didn't care, she was coming home, that's all I cared about.

Two days later the team of Chuunin, paid for by my mother, arrived with her. She was bruised, like she had been beaten nonstop. Her eyes were dull as they stared at the ground. When the female Chuunin carrying her stopped to set her down she looked up. When her eyes gazed up at my they softened and tears began to build up in her orbs.

HONOKA's POV

'Itachi? Is that him? He- what happened to him?'

Questions kept plaguing my mind, I wanted to ask him if he was alright, but instead I cried, thin arms wrapping around my waist, holding me in a warm embrace while rubbing circleson my back. I didn't look up to see who it was, I just somehow knew it was Itachi. We stood there for a moment longer till Itachi picked me up bridal style and whispered words into my ear. Later on I'll look back at today and realise today was the day I started to love this boy.

"Honoka, you're save with me, I'll never let something lie that happen ever again. That's a promise."

Wow that was long, like really long. over 1500. How'd you guys like the end, I know some might think I'm not following Itachi's character but I just feel like writing him like this.

As always I don't mind the hate comments but I'd prefer constructive criticism please.
