HONOKA's POV

Years pass by in the blink of an eye, so many things have happened since my kidnapping, the Kyuubi attack which destroyed a good chunk of the village. The forth Hokage's death, and Itachi's graduation a few months later.

Today's the day, at 10, four years after I joined the academy, I'm graduating. This also just so happened to be the same day Itachi's taking the final stage of the Chuunin exam.

'I have to pass, I have to!'

I walked into the unfamiliar classroom filled with 12 year olds with my head held high. I wasn't overconfident, nor was I cocky. I've been trained well, I've had many amazing teachers and today I'd make them proud. Prove to them that our time spent together wasn't for nothing.

More and more students entered in after me, the clock in the corner of the room slowly ticking away, second by second, minute by minute.

*Tick*

*Tick*

*Tick*

The bell rang and everyone in the classroom fell silent as the teacher walked into the class with the papers for the first portion of the exam. Everyone sat down at their own desks and waited some patiently, others impatiently, for the tests to be handed out.

I'm ready for this. Itachi spent the majority of the week before he had to go to Suna for the Chuunin exam finals tutoring me on different subjects even though he had to train for the exams. I was by no means stupid, I had a good grasp on all subjects taught in the academy, but he insisted on still helping me.

My test was placed on my desk, and the rest of those who already had their tests in possession waited for the middle aged man to finish handing out the papers to the other students.

As he walked back to the front of the classroom my heart started to race, he set the stop clock and with that...

"BEGIN!!"

ITACHI's POV

Honoka's grown, they've known each other for years now, today she's taking the academy's exam, and I'm fighting in the final stage of the Chuunin exams. I'm confident in my skills as well as hers, we were both trained by Shisui, my mother and her kenjutsu sensei. She'll be fine, she'll pass, I'm sure of it. Now all I need to focus on now is my fight.

Myself, as well as the other 7 finalists stood patiently in a neat line on the arena floor, the Suna sun beaming down on the contestants while the announcer spoke with chakra enhanced vocal cords. After another 5 minutes or so the first match begun. We were told to watch the match from the balcony not far from the leaf and mist pair about to fight.

The battle was over quickly, the leaf ninja had been overconfident, and obviously underestimated his opponent. As a Shinobi, a mistake such as that would have cost the boy his life in a real fight.

Itachi observed each battle before his, possible opponents, strengths, weaknesses, everything he'd need to beat them in battle, then the final came and the young boy stepped down from his position on the balcony, his opponent right behind him, his pace slow and leisurely, like one who was sure of his victory.

Just as in the first battle, the last was over quickly, Itachi standing upon his fallen enemy, a kunai to the older nin's throat, drawing a small amount of blood which trickled down his neck and staining his ash gray shirt a dark red. The proctor declared the end of the match and announced the ravenette boy as the winner.

The rest of the matches continued on just as the first round and in the end, the winner being one raven haired Uchiha.

The road back to Konoha was a long one, it took even longer now as they weren't russing to get to their destination.

When the villages gates came into view he increased his pace, the other leaf nin already running ahead, not noticing the emotions showcasing in the boy's deep onyx eyes.

'I'm home Honoka. I'm home'

They received 1 hour to finish the test handed to them. By half an hour the youngest of the students was done and simply rested till the other 30 minutes were over.

The clock ticked, second, minute, time moved slowly giving her ample time to rest or prepare for the next stage.

She was awoken by the ringing of the sensei's stop clock. He stood up from his seat and took in the tests and escorting us out to the academy's training ground for the Taijutsu test.

Out of the ten kunai and ten shuriken the silver head scored 9/10 kunai and 10/10 shuriken.

In the Taijutsu match with the teacher she lasted 5 minutes and 47 seconds.

By the end of the day she stepped out of the academy building with a shining new hitai-ate on her head, having aced the Ninjutsu portion of the test.

She headed back to the friends' usual training grounds and trained, she knew Itachi would come back with the title of Chuunin and she needed to catch up to him.

Four days, that was how long it took him to return. He was tired but he needed to see her, he needed to see her grinning as she happily handed him the hitai-ate she worked so hard to obtain.

Knowing she'd be waiting for him there, he headed towards training ground 3. His assumption had been proven correct as the figure of a small girl came into his view. She was short, too short for her age but she didn't seem to mind her hight.

Her electrifying blue orbs sparkling, her emotions as clear as day. Her smile grew into a grin, spreading from ear to ear and threatening to split her face in two. Glinting on her forehead was her hitai-ate signifying her Shinobi title.

She didn't move, no, she just stood there her eyes roaming his form, most likely searching for any indication of him becoming a Chuunin.

"I haven't gotten my vest yet but yes I'm a Chuunin, Honoka."

Her grin dropped into a pout, expecting to see him in it after waiting this long for her friend's return. The boy in front of her moved closer and closer and closer, till he was right in front of her. Her short stature forcing her to tilt her head all the way back just to stare into his eyes.

Itachi raised his right hand to her head, a smile gracing his lips and his eyes showcasing his adoration for the girl in front of him. His hand, still on her head, started ruffling her silver hair. Then, for a moment, he seemed to contemplate before leaving her hair, now a mess, untied her hitai-ate and took his index and middle finger to poke her forehead where her headband was located not long ago.

"I'm so proud of you, Honoka."

That's the end. What do you think of this one? Please let me know in a review, as always I don't mind the hate comments but I'd prefer constructive criticism.
