HONOKA's POV

I was walking down the road back from the supermarket with two bags in hand while whistling a toon to myself. No training, no mission, no annoying teammates, no nothing. As a Chuunin this is one of the most peaceful days I've had in a long time. Me and Itachi haven't seen each other in a while, him being an ANBU member now didn't leave us with much time to spend together.

Over the years me and his cousin, Shisui have become close friends as well, although not on the same level as my friendship with Itachi. So it wasn't a surprise when the familiar voice of the older curly haired Uchiha called out to me. This being on of those rare days when he got a break from missions and was not spending that break training.

"Hey! Hono-chan! Wait up!"

I stopped and turned around to face the panting ravenette as he stopped mere inches from my face. His body radiating heat that reached my face from the close proximity to him.

"Good afternoon Shisui. Morning workout?"

"Nah, just ran around looking for you all morning. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find you, you're like a ghost."

"Well sorry about the Shisui but as you can see I've been at the market. So why were you looking for me anyway?"

"Oh ya sorry, Mikoto-san asked me to inform you that they're having a celebration in honour of Itachi becoming ANBU and as his friend you are invited."

The young girl had a shocked expression on her face as she listened to one of her Uchiha friends speak, only breaking out of it when the older Shinobi waved his hand infront of her in an attempt to 'wake her up'.

"You ok Hono-chan? You spaced out there for a second."

"Oh ya sorry Shisui, I'm just a little surprised. I mean isn't it going to be a family gathering, I'm not exactly family now am I. Also Itachi's father isn't exactly a fan of mine, I'm not sure he'd want me there."

As she continued to speak her head slowly lowered and by the time Itachi's father came in her head hung low, eyes fixed on the ground below as she suddenly found an interest in the small pebbles that lay scattered about.

"Don't worry about the clan head, Mikoto-san already took care of him and besides, you know Itachi hates that kind of stuff and if you weren't around he'd try to leave early, so chin up. I was ordered to escort you to the dinner and I will, so you better look pretty for your-"

The teen he'd been speaking to flushed a bright shade of red at what he was about to say and clasped her hands over his mouth, cutting him off before he could say it and looking around frantically.

"Fine I'll come just don't say that, ok!"

She whispered into his ear still a bright red and upon receiving a nod from the talkative raven, she unclasped her hands from his mouth and picked up the bags she had thrown to the floor in her hast to cover his lips before he could say 'that' word. This Uchiha would be the cause of her death if she wasn't careful.

A grin found its way onto the older boy's face, the younger cursing under her breath as she recognized this particular glint in his eyes.

'This is going to be a long day if he going to follow me around through the entirety of it.'

The day dragged out slowly with the teasing of one particular Uchiha only causing the younger girl more suffering. She had the other wait for her in her apartment's living room as she got ready. It didn't take her long to change as she already had an outfit in mind.

The boy's jaw dropped to the floor as he stared as the girl he was supposed to be escorting to the Uchiha compound. His eyes moved over her frame as if admiring a painting.

She wore a short, dark red battle kimono with long sleeves and a hoodie hanging behind her, a simple rose design engraved onto the fabric. Long black boots stopping just underneath the black shorts she wore. Her hair, usually braided, was now left to hang loosely behind her, two bangs framing her face.

"So? Do I look okay?"

Snapping out of his stupor, he answered her with a nod before they started walking towards the compound, the gentle breeze swaying her silver hair left and right.

When the pair reached the intended location Mikoto was setting the dinner table while Itachi and Fugaku, his father sat on the two couches opposite one another discussing something.

Itachi's eyes landed on the newcomers, widening upon seeing his friend's outfit. His lips parted slightly and an almost unseen blush appeared on his cheeks before vanishing completely.

After greeting the family she offered to help Mikoto set the table, while the mother called her eldest son over to help the young girl. Without a second thought he walked over to his friend. The two started talking not long after and the topic of her attire soon came onto the metaphorical table.

"Do I look weird? I asked Shisui but he said I looked alright, I would've changed if I looked weird."

"You don't look weird. In fact you look beautiful."

A blush crossed over her cheeks at the ravenette's comment, her heart rate increased exponentially, her eyes darting everywhere but the boy in front of her. She was saved by Mikoto coming in with the food. Chuckling when she saw her guest's blushing face.

"Now-now Itachi, I know our little guest is beautiful but please save this for when the two of you are alone."

This caused a light blush to appear on her son's face and the already existing blush on his friend's cheeks to deepen. Chucking as the silverette's blush matched her kimono's.

'This relationship is going to be interesting.'

The gathered people sat in silence as they ate the food prepared by the eldest of the two females in the group, only the occasional question and answer disrupting the silence.

The dinner soon ended and the eldest son of the clan heir walked his female friend back to her apartment.

"Honoka may I ask you something?"

"Go ahead, I don't mind."

"If something ever happens to me will you take care or Sasuke for me?"

"What's wrong? Is something going to happen?"

"I can't tell you Honoka but please promise me."

"I Promise Itachi, I promise."

That night the two each laid in their own bed, thinking of what was said by the older of the two.

'What's going on Itachi?'

'Please Honoka, don't try to find out what's going on.'

At the same time they each made a wish.

'Please be save Honoka/Itachi.'

That's the end of chapter 9. Did you like it? There's only one chapter left of this fic so enjoy.
