DESCLAIMER: I do not own Naruto
Heya guys! Considering that I won't be able to update tomorrow I worked really hard to give yu this chapter today too. This is the last chapter, I hope you enjoy.
Final chapter
For months the words of a certain raven haired boy hadn't plagued her mind, so why now? Why today, mere days after Shisui's death?
Questions such as those rang through her mind like a record on repeat. Even while patrolling the outskirts of the village, after her training session with some of the other Chuunin, and even now as she roamed the streets of Konoha, those thoughts kept ringing in her mind.
The 13 year old teenager scaled up the Hokage mountain, finding herself seated on the third Hokage's stone head. Itachi had once mentioned that he sat on one of the Hokage's stone heads to just think whenever something was plaguing his mind that he couldn't find an answer for.
So here she was, thinking about the day so many months ago.
'Itachi knows something.'
She knew her best friend knew something about what was happening but she hasn't seen him all day, no all month at that. It shouldn't have been that surprising considering that both were no longer academy students who had all the time in the world to just play around. No. They were high ranking Shinobi of Konohagakure no sado and didn't have time to play games.
Still it was concerning to say the least. He should have received at least one day off in the time since their last meeting and now, Konoha wasn't as gruesome as other villages so they wouldn't give him mission after mission without rest...right?
'Im overthinking things, Itachi's fine and nothing's going to happen.'
She tried to shift her mind from the topic and onto something lighter, less troubling but no matter how hard she tried her mind refused to let it go, always finding a way back to the topic.
Before long noon arrived and she once again scaled down the high mountain to find a place to eat. Half way down deciding to go to Ichiraku ramen.
Instead of jumping from rooftop to rooftop like she usually would, she instead walked along the streets of her beloved village, marveling at the beauty of it, even through the hoards of people surrounding her on every corner.
A 10 minute walk was all it took to get to the ramen stand and she took a seat, smiled at the young girl on the other side of the counter before placing her order.
Next to her a blond haired boy dug into his ramen like it was the very thing keeping him alive. The boy seemed to be the same age as little Sasuke and upon feeling eyes on him the blondy looked up from the half eaten bowl of ramen to stare at the older girl, a bit of soup trickling down his chin.
Giving the child a warm smile she patted his head noticing how he flinched away from her hand.
"Hi little one, I'm Honoka. What's your name?"
The young blond gave the girl a look of surprise, not expecting such a friendly tone to be directed at him.
"I'm Uzumaki Naruto, believe it!"
The boy yelled, bringing a grin to her face. Her miso ramen was placed on the counter in front of her and she thanked the young girl on the other side.
"Well Naruto-chan, it's a pleasure to meet you."
The boy, Naruto, smiled at that and returned to the ramen he'd left unattended. A smile on his face as he gurgles down the last of the soup.
'She was nice to me.'
That was all he could think even as he stared on the next bowl of his favourite dish.
She was finishing up her bowl as he sucked his last on. About to take out his 'Gama-chan' to pay for the food he was stopped by a hand gentle hand on his. The girl gave him a smile and shook her head.
"Why don't I pay for your meal cutie?"
She didn't even wait for him to answer as she paid for both of their meals. Then she turned back towards him, gave him a huge smile and said:
"Well Naruto-chan, see you again sometime."
Then she vanished leaving a small cloud of dust behind.
Nighttime came far too quickly for the ravenette boy. Today was the day, the day he'd have to slaughter his own clan, his own family. There was nothing he could do about it, they brought this upon themselves. Now it was his job to take care of things.
Blood splattered everywhere, soaking into his clothes and staining them a dark red shade.
The clan was slaughtered, leaving the only living member besides himself his younger brother, Sasuke. This was all for the village and his otouto, he kept reassuring himself.
In the distance he could hear them, the ANBU rushing towards his current location. He couldn't be caught, not yet. Before he left the village he needed to see her again. He couldn't leave without saying goodbye, without telling her how he felt.
Leaping, he raced towards her apartment only to find it empty. As he was about to leave the door unlocked, he knew it was her. He just knew.
Silver hair entered his view, then came her pale skin, then her electric blue eyes, then finally the entirety of his long time friend stood in front of his eyes, his Sharingan blazing, he wanted to remember her like this, before she found out about his deeds.
Worry clouded her vision and she ran towards her only true friend. He was coated in fresh blood.
To her surprise the boy a mere few centimeters away, pulled her into his arms, she hugged him back after a second.
"Honoka, I- "
He looked down into her curious blue orbs and his breath hitched. She was still as beautiful as always.
"What's wrong Itachi?"
Unable to speak, he let his body move on it's own. He bent down to the girl's level and kissed her, slowly at first, allowing her the chance to stop him if she wished. Instead after a moment, she kissed him back.
All the pent up emotions they both harboured was let loose in that one single instance.
Pain*
*Sorrow*
*Regret*
... And, goodbye.
A mix of it all was placed into that one single kiss. A tear ran down the former Uchiha clan heir's cheek.
They broke apart.
Never to connect again.
"I love you, Honoka."
"I love you too, Itachi."
Then Uchiha Itachi, murderer of his own clan-, no, Uchiha Itachi the one she loved was gone.
(End flashback)
Tears ran down the cheeks of a blind 24 year old man on the verge of death as her relived the most precious memories of his live. Coughing out blood he knew it was time. Time for him to leave this world.
"Yes, just like before Honoka, I still love you."
One final tear escaped his blind eyes as one of the last Uchiha died.
Unbeknownst to even the boy himself, after he left his loved one there was one final sentence spoken by the frail girl.
"I know what you did Itachi, I know. But I still love you."
