Notes: This takes place in the summer while no one has school. Willow is camping with her dad's, Luz and amity are visiting carmilla in the human world then will be visiting Alador splitting both a month with each, gus and hunter are spending the summer together since hunter technically lives with gus.
P.S. They are having a mini camping trip of their own right now just for a night, though, to see how it goes.
And ik this ship no one really likes since the age gap is 4 years so I changed it to 2 Gus is 14 in this and Hunter is 16

Gus and Hunter were relaxing after a hard day of training, Gus with his illusion magic, and Hunter with a metal pole so he didn't rely too much on magic to fight. They've been at it for about 2 almost 3 hours now and Gus was getting exhausted. Not having trained his illusion magic this much before was putting a toll on him.
Hunter, seeing Gus was getting pretty tired decided it was due time to stop for the day. They were a decent way away from Gus's house where Hunter was staying since he didn't have anywhere else to go. Hunter grabbed the travel bag they had filled with supplies and food. They went to find a cave for the night in case it ended up raining. They were looking for a decent cave that was big enough for them and a campfire so they stayed warm throughout the night.
While they were walking, Gus decided to ask
Hunter a question.
Hunter?
Yes gus?
Do you.. like anyone?
Hunter, startled by the question, tripped catching himself before he hit face first in the ground.
Gus yelped shocked from hunter falling quickly grabbed his hand helping him up not noticing the faint hue of blush painting across hunter face.
Thanks, Hunter said.
No problem, Gus replied, still holding Hunter's hand.
Both notice their holding hands.
Gus quickly let's go apologizing.
Both continue walking in silence.
Hunter was the one to break the silence that had befallen them.
To answer your question from earlier.. I do like someone.
Gus, hearing this immediately stopping in his tracks, grabbed Hunter by the shoulder, turned him around and shouted Who! While shaking hunter like a ragdoll.
After getting over the revelation to hunter , liking someone, Gus stopped shaking him and calmly this time asked.
Who is it?
Hunter, blushing enough for gus to see, was nervously playing with his hands.
Gus saw how nervous Hunter was.
Ok.
Give me 3 details about said person and I'll take a guess and you have to say yes or no.
Hunter nodded.
Sure that sounds easier.
Gus starts asking the questions he's already crossed out multiple people. Like Luz, amity, Willow, due to Hunter shaking his head. So he asked a new question to narrow his search down farther since hunter could like anyone.
Is it a boy or a girl?
Hunter froze at the question. Quickly getting over it. It's a boy he nervously said.
Gus was surprised but in a good way said this narrows the search a lot.
Is it…Edrick?
Hunter shakes his head no, baffled by how dense the guy is. I mean he barely knows the guy and the only actual guy that he knows and talks to is gus.
I give up, who is it! If it's not edrick, Willow or anyone else!
Hunter decided it's now or never grabbed gus by his hands and kissed his forehead.
It's you. You idiot what other guy do I talk to besides you I barely know any other guy.
Gus was surprised by this with his mouth agape like a fish.

Hunter was getting more nervous by the second. What if he doesn't like him back? What if he doesn't want to be friends anymore? What if he tells his dad and he gets kicked out of gus's house he won't have anywhere el-
Before his mind can keep making bad scenarios, Gus quickly tightens his grip on hunters hands and kisses his cheek blushing profusely.
I like you too. Have for a while now.
Really? Hunter asks, blushing and hopeful.
Yes I really do love you, Hunter.
Hunter quickly pulls gus into a tight hug tearing up and laughing softly happy that his love is mutual.
Gus, also a bit teary eyed, was also laughing, hugging back just as tightly as Hunter was because he will cherish this moment for the rest of his life.
Letting each other go they started walking to continue their search for a cave.
Hunter slowly was reaching his hand for Gus's but Gus had beat him to it and grabbed his hand squeezing it and smiling at hunter.
Hunter smiling back held his hand just as tightly.
His bright smile sends butterflies in Gus's stomach from how beautiful he is and his tooth gap just makes it even better.
So does this make us boyfriends? hunter asked.
Do you want to be? Gus replied.
Hunter nodded his head blushing madly.
Well then, would you, Hunter, make me happy and be my beloved boyfriend? Sending a warm smile towards hunter.
Hunter beaming with a huge smile hugged Gus, yes! Yes I would be your boyfriend, Augustus.
Quickly grabbing hunters hand they carry on walking in search of a cave.
They keep walking and eventually find a cave that's big enough so they start putting things down and in a safe place.
After putting everything in the cave, Hunter ran to get some firewood for the campfire. After deeming the wood he got was good enough he started his way back to Gus and the cave. Gus, having seen Hunter, ran out to help him carry half the load of firewood that Hunter was holding inside and started stacking it on the side of the cave wall, while hunter started preparing the campfire.
Having noticed that hunter had brought a bunch of long sticks he sent a confused look towards hunter and asked why he brought them.
Hey hunter?
Yea?
Why did you bring a bunch of long sticks I don't we have a use for them.
Oh.
You'll see soon sending a smile towards gus
Gus knowing he won't get an answer besides that sent a warm smile back at his new boyfriend.
Hunter went to grab the travel pack they had put their food and supplies in and he grabbed a fire glyph to start up the campfire.
After that he set up a blanket on the stone floor so they can be more comfortable.
Hunter going back to the travel back started to bring out all of the food they packed, which is a bunch of sandwiches that were wrapped in saran wrap, packed in a small cooler that had ice in it. so the food will still be cool when they eat it. They also brought chips, and drinks that were in closed cups that kept them cool.
Hunter purposely left 4 things in there so he can surprise gus with them after they eat.
As hunter was grabbing the food gus got up from his spot on the blanket to help hunter bring the food to the blanket. Hunter grabbed the sandwiches while gus grabbed the chips and drinks.
Hunter and Gus, now sitting down beside each other enjoying their food, they started conversing on their relationship and how they think things would go now that they are together and how they will explain it to their friend group.
Hunter finished his food first and now is just waiting for gus who's about to finish as well. After Gus finished, Hunter started to clean up a bit, putting all the trash and dirty plates back in the travel pack so they can be thrown away and the plate cleaned when they get back to Gus's house.
Now sitting back down they decided to bask in each other's presence a bit holding hands and just relaxing. That is till hunter got up.
Gus, confused , gave a look towards the back of hunter asked.
Hunter. Where are you going?
I have a surprise for you in the travel bag I'll be right back. is all he said.
Gus just waited there for about 3 minutes before seeing Hunter with his hands behind his back walking back.
Hunter came back with a small smile on his face.
So. I know how much you love sweets… and I asked a certain human to get me something from the human world.
Gus, somewhat excited to eat sweets from the human world, again asked in a happy and surprised voice.
Really!
Hunter could only chuckle at Gus's excitement.
Yes. Really I asked her to get something you haven't tried but knew you would like.
He slowly showed what he had behind his back.
Gus squealed with excitement when he saw what Hunter had.
Marshmallows! Gus yelled with excitement having not been able to try them yet because he hasn't gotten the chance to go back to the human.
Hunter chuckled a bit.
Yes Luz said you wanted to try them before just weren't able to.
I also have 3 more surprises but those will wait till after we eat some marshmallows.
Gus suddenly remembered the sticks.
So that's why you got a bunch of long sticks!
For the marshmallows so we can roast them over the campfire!
Yep. Hunter said.
Hunter gave the bag of marshmallows to Gus and went to grab 2 of the long sticks that would work perfectly for roasting marshmallows over a campfire.
After coming back and sitting by gus he handed him his stick.
Let's open the bag shall we.
Gus excitedly opened it and grabbed him and hunted a marshmallow. After putting it on their stick they put it over the fire and waited a couple seconds for it to be a nice shade of brown.
Once both of their marshmallows were done they pulled their sticks back out of the fire and towards them.
Gus was the first to blow out the small flame still on his marshmallow hunter following right after.
He pulled his marshmallow off of the stick and ate it. The reaction was instantaneous.
Gus absolutely loved it. It was sweet, gooey and sugary.
It tastes so freaking good!
Hunter couldn't agree more with gus. he loved it just as much as gus maybe he should ask Luz to bring more in the future.
After they ate a couple more they had gotten pretty full so put the rest away for some other time.
Though hunter still had 3 more surprises for gus to enjoy.

Gus just waited excitement radiating off of him; he couldn't wait for what else hunter got him.
Ok so I asked Luz to bring 2 other things from the human world.
This is something that we both loved in the human world. saying that, he brought out the copy of Cosmic frontier, handing it to gus.
Gus was happy that he had his favorite book from the human world flipped through the pages and relished in the memories of him and Hunter reading it together when they couldn't sleep while they were stuck in the human world.
He put it back down at the sound of hunter clearing his voice Luz picked these for you saying how cute they were and that you would definitely like them.
He handed gus a bunch of stickers of animal chibi foods gus squealed at how cute they were and that he would be sure to thank her when the group met up again.
He put the stickers on top of the cosmic frontier book and then looked up at hunter.
I'll be sure to tell her that you like them. He smiled down at gus.
Now time for the last one of the surprises, Hunter said.
He pulled out a wood sculpture and handed it to gus.
Gus's eyes went as wide as saucers mouth agape and amazed it was a sculpture of him with Emmiline on his shoulder.
It looked amazing.
This surprise is something I made for you I know it isn't the best and doesn't look good an-.
Before Hunter could finish talking, he was on the floor with gus hugging him with tears in his eyes.
It's amazing you idiot thank you no one has ever made something like this for me or put so much care into making something as amazing as this.
Hunter, a little teary eyed at how much Gus loved his gift, hugged him back.
They lay there for a couple of minutes just basking in each other's presence, happy to have each other and still coming down from their little emotional moment.
That is till hunter felt something get pressed on his nose.
Looking down at a giggling gus with the stickers in his hand.
He took it off and it was a chibi lion in a mug of what looks like hot chocolate. He smiled and put it on his cheek instead of back on his nose.
What was this for? He looked at gus with a little smile.
Gus looked at him and blushed.
The lion is because you're brave and fierce but also how adorable you can be and from what it looks like it's in hot cocoa and hot cocoa is sweet meaning you're sweet as well… Gus said, looking down in nervous embarrassment.
Upon hearing this, the hunter couldn't help the massive blush coating his face.
He grabbed the stickers from Gus and put a chibi bear in what looks like a tea cup with strawberry milk in it and put it on Gus's cheek as well.
Gus grabbed the sticker and took it off his face and smiled at the cute sticker and put it back on his cheek.
Gus looked at Hunter who was blushing a bit.
Hunter looked at gus and said,
The bear is because of how cute you can be and how brave you are and from what it looks like it's in strawberry milk and you're sweet just like it.
Hunter was blushing a lot by the time he finished saying that.
Gus hearing this smiles and grabs hunters hand pulling him towards the blanket since being on the stone floor isn't the most comfortable place to be.
Gus put the stickers back where his new books and wood sculpture is and pulled Hunter down with him so they are sitting together.
Gus pulled out his book so they can read with each other for a bit before they go to sleep.
After 20 minutes of reading, Gus noticed Hunter was laying on his shoulder obviously trying to stay awake and chuckled a bit.
After putting the book back where all his other stuff is with moving hunters too much he laid them both down he pressed a quick kiss on hunters forehead saying goodnight.
Hunter laying under Gus's chin smiled sleepily, moving so he could press a quick kiss on Gus's forehead as well but quickly burying his face into Gus's chest in embarrassment.
Both of them cuddling each other, both thinking of one thing.
On how much they love each other.
