Conner was distracted during his lunch with Clark.
"Earth to Conner. What's with you today? Not just today, this is the first time I've seen you in a while. Unless, you know, if we were rescuing people. What have you been up to."
"I established communication with Komand'r and we've been talking every day since."
Clark's jaw dropped as he processed this new information. "Okay."
"We talk often, every day, but it's not the same."
Clark nodded. "Long distance can be challenging and you two have the longest distance I've ever encountered for a relationship but obviously you care for her and she seems to care for you, that's what matters."
Conner furrowed his brow. "The distance has been difficult and the respiratory device isn't ready yet."
"I'm sorry Conner."
Conner took a deep breath. "I saw her last night."
"Right, on your call."
"No."
Clark was confused. "What do you mean?"
"Last night, we talked about being together. I went to sleep after the call but it…I was with her."
Clark shrugged. "You had a dream."
"No. It was…it was real. We were together. I could…I could feel everything."
Clark raised an eyebrow. "A very vivid dream?"
"I could feel her Clark. Everything. I could feel her kiss, her touch. I was in-"
"Yep, everything, got it." Clark nodded.
Conner noticed Clark's change in demeanor. The nature of their relationship was still new, evolving but new.
"I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
Clark sighed. "No, it's fine. You should continue."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I mean, who else are you going to talk to about this?"
Dick, maybe Kory but that could get awkward, Gar, Tim. He had options but he was glad that Clark wanted to be one of them. "Thanks."
"Yep. So…" Clark swallowed hard. "…you were saying."
Conner smiled. "I called her this morning. I needed to know if last night was as real as it seemed."
Clark leaned in. "And?"
"She had the exact same experience. We had it together. It was real Clark. It was…"
"It was what you needed. What you both needed."
"Yes."
"What happens now?"
"We don't know. We don't even know why or how it happened." Conner continued.
Clark grinned. "I suppose you two will revisit the situation."
Conner smirked in acknowledgement. "We already have. We plan to execute several more tests as often as possible…to get answers of course."
"Of course."
They laughed as they continued their lunch.
Conner continued. "There's something else."
"What is it?"
Conner shifted. "There's this pull."
"A pull?"
"Yeah, like something is pulling me…toward her."
Clark shrugged. "You want to be together."
"It's strong Clark. Primal."
He earned Clark's full attention with that word. "Primal?"
"Is that normal for kryptonians?"
Clark was curious. "I don't know, but we'll figure it out. In the meantime maybe ask Blackfire, or her sister, she might have some insight."
"Maybe. Thanks Clark."
"Of course."
They continued their lunch and had a training session till later that day, then said goodbye.
Clark grew concerned over Conner's statement and decided to get some answers. He retrieved his phone to make a call. It was answered immediately.
"Clark? How are you? Is everything alright?"
"Hey Kara, I'm fine." He paused, not sure how to continue. "What do you know about tamaraneans?"
"Not much."
"What about shared dreams?"
"Dreams? Clark are you alright?"
"It's not for me, Conner's been experiencing some…things."
Kara knew she had some growing to do after her initial encounter with Conner. Clark was very clear about that, and he was right. She wanted to make sure Conner knew how important he was to them. "How can I help?"
