The next morning, Miss Daredevil awoke at 8:30. She'd usually be up by 7 but she struggled getting to sleep last night.

She got up, went to the bathroom, put on her running shoes and sweatbands, did a run around the block, showered, made breakfast, ate breakfast, made her bed, cleaned her teeth and brushed her hair. By which point, it was 9:30.

Miss Daredevil decided she needed to get out of the house more to get her mind off what happened yesterday, so she grabbed her boots, her trademark helmet, a tote bag and a cooler bag and walked into town.

On her way, she walked past Mr. Quiet's house. Mr. Quiet was in his front yard, trimming the hedges. Miss Daredevil thought she'd say hello.

"Hiya Mr. Quiet. How did the date go?"

Mr. Quiet was in his own little world so he was mildly startled when Miss Daredevil called to him. "Oh. Uhhh, hello Miss Daredevil. Yeah, it went pretty well. I booked a whole restaurant so apart from the staff, it was just the two of us the whole time."

"Wow," said Miss Daredevil. "Sounds like her kind of evening."

"Yeah, she had a good time." said Mr. Quiet. His next question put Miss Daredevil on the spot for a bit. "How did the stunt go yesterday?"

She knew someone would bring it up eventually but wasn't expecting it so soon. "Uhhh. Oh! That stunt! I mean, it could've gone better. Sorry I can't stay much longer, gotta go to the store!"

And with that, she started walking a bit quicker. Before long, she was in town.

As she walked along, she found herself thinking of all her past stunts. All the times Mr. Quiet or Mr. Nervous or Miss Calamity that one time were put in danger just because she wanted to show off how brave she was. Sure, they were a bit shaken up at times but they never got seriously injured, right? Oh wait, Miss Calamity did. Even then, she only got a sprain ankle, and skinned elbow, nothing that couldn't be treated on the spot, it was nothing serious. Even then, the sprain ankle wasn't even anyone's fault, it was just bad luck. ...or was she just making excuses for herself?

BUMP!

Miss Daredevil was distracted and didn't notice until too late that she had bumped into Little Miss Splendid.

"Madam, you should really watch where you're going in future. Honestly, I'd expect this sort of behavior from Mr. Bump."

"Sorry about that Miss Splendid." apologised Miss Daredevil, helping Miss Splendid to her feet.

Miss Splendid seemed anxious. "Tell me darling, is my hat okay?"

Miss Daredevil looked. "I think you grazed your elbow."

"Yes yes, but more importantly, is my hat okay!?" asked Miss Splendid, who appeared to not be too concerned about her injury.

"...your hat's fine." replied Miss Daredevil.

"Oh, thank goodness for that." sighed Miss Splendid, and she went on her way.

As Miss Daredevil continued her walk to the main street, she started thinking about all the times she put people in danger without even doing any stunts. That one camping trip, her helicopter tours of Dillydale, riding a scooter through a store, the Dillydale 500, that one time she blew the roof off the museum giftshop, etc.

She then remembered the Zoom Boots. Oh god, that was a whole thing, wasn't it? A few years ago, Miss Daredevil had designed a more user friendly version of her rocket shoes and tried to market them as a substitute for public transport. She did a TV commercial for it and everything, even got interviewed on Good Morning Dillydale. After a few weeks on the market though, sales went down after it was brought to attention that if someone was carrying groceries, packages or any other general shopping, the Zoom Boots couldn't support their weight as good and they'd only hover about 5 or 6 feet above the ground at a slow pace. Before long, they were discontinued because of this. Even then while the Zoom Boots were being developed, there were fears that the Zoom Boots could be dangerous and that they'd need a few more safety trials. Miss Daredevil said at the time that they were safe enough and everyone was worrying too much. She did eventually agree (albeit reluctantly) to more safety trials but now her mind was wandering. What if she had stood her ground? What if they hadn't have done more tests? What if something else had gone wrong? She saw she was about to approach the grocery store so she decided it would be best not to let her mind wander any further.

Miss Daredevil was walking down the aisles, picking out her usual grocery items when she overheard some people talking in the next aisle. Mr. Tickle, Mr. Daydream, Miss Calamity and Miss Chatterbox were talking about the incident yesterday.

"Are you sure a tickle won't help him?" asked Mr. Tickle.

"No Mr. Tickle, I don't think he's in a stable enough condition for tickles." said Miss Calamity.

Then Miss Chatterbox spoke. "I can't imagine what it's like to have a sibling in the hospital. I mean, my brother went to see a doctor once because of a weird growth on his back but it turned out it was just a wad of gum. I mean, he's pink like me and it was Strawberry gum so you can see how he got confused at the time. Hey, you think it's weird how they have bubblegum flavored ice cream or bubblegum flavored taffy? I mean, bubble gum could be any flavor really. Wait sorry, I got distracted. How is Miss Whoops taking it Miss Calamity?"

Miss Calamity sighed. "Well, she hasn't left Mr. Bump's side. I'd be there too but I have to get supplies. I only got like 3 hours sleep last night."

"Tell you what," chipped in Mr. Daydream. "Come by my dispensary this afternoon, I'll give you something to help you sleep easier, on the house."

"I appreciate the offer Mr. Daydream." said Miss Calamity kindly, "But I don't think the hospital would be cool with us bringing that stuff in."

Mr. Daydream scoffed. "Bloody narcs."

Just then, Little Miss Curious and Mr. Fussy walked up and joined the conversation.

"What are you guys talking about?" she asked.

"Oh, we were just talking about Mr. Bump's accident." replied Mr. Tickle.

"Oh yeah, I heard about that." said Miss Curious. "How is Mr. Bump doing?"

"Well he's unconscious but he's stable at least. I've heard Miss Whoops isn't taking it too well but then again, having a sibling in the hospital can't be easy, I imagine. My brother went to a doctor once to get a lump looked at but it turned out it was just a wad of gum that got stuck there but I'm just repeating myself." said Miss Chatterbox.

"I feel like this should be addressed but I can't help but feel that Miss Daredevil was partially responsible for this." Put in Mr. Fussy. "Then again, knowing Mr. Bump's luck, if it wasn't Miss Daredevil, it probably would've been someone else like Mr. Stubborn or Miss Helpful or the like."

"I hate to admit it," replied Miss Calamity. "But I think you make a point Mr. Fussy. I know it was just bad luck and everything and I know Miss Daredevil isn't a bad person but..." Miss Calamity paused and sighed. "Sometimes, I just wish she'd stop and listen to others instead of just rushing headfirst into danger without so much as a second thought."

Miss Daredevil just stood there. Her thoughts from earlier that day came flooding back to her. She didn't know what to say or do so she just rushed to the checkout counter, paid for her groceries and went home.

She got an even worse night's sleep that night.
