Somewhere not very far inland of Jefferson, a small town stood. The town held a population of approximately 10,000 people. Normally this would be a blip on the map that no one cared for, but… Well, everyone seems to care more about even the smallest of things when a mass tragedy is tied to it. No one even saw it coming as they hadn't had any reason to. They had been left alone in any and all previous fighting, whether it be amongst humans or gems.

However, like all good things the peace they knew and loved came to an end because on December 24th, 2027, the people of Tenpines would lose everything. When they would wake up, it would not be to the morning sun and chirping birds, no, they'd wake to their two square miles of city in shaky chaos. At exactly 3:33 AM the decimation of the kind people of Tenpine would begin, only to end roughly 25 minutes later. Out of 10,000 people, only about 200 people remained alive by the time help arrived.

Sadly, even out of the few who made it out of the town alive, some still didn't last long and died later on from injuries, leaving there to be very few witness accounts. Most of these accounts were shaky at best, as many of the surviving people were kids or barely adults. Those that did give accounts stuttered through a string of inconsistencies and did nothing more than confuse nearby authorities even all have one thing in common, though, just one. They all include a dark figure with a scythe the size of their body.

There was one account that stuck out though. This account was by a young human boy who claimed he saw the figure head to the coast. With all the inconsistencies, no one believed him, but if we switch view points, if we follow the tracks of the terrifying black gem, we can see that the boy was right.

West coast, just inside of a redwood forest in Jefferson. Alarms were blaring from the inside of a small, ratty ship and lights flashed violently as the vessel spiraled out of control. Inside the ship, a tall, pink gem worked frantically to stabilize the ship to no end.

"No, not again! Shit, this can't be happening, I just fixed it!" Smoke billowed out from around the crashing ship, covering it like a thick band of clouds. Their hands flew across the control board as fast as they could, all for one last desperate attempt to right the falling ship, but it was for not. As the pink gem and the ship approached the ground, they reached a hand up to their eyes, feeling tears springing up from them abundantly as they got closer, and closer, and closer.

"This is it…" She sank to her knees, leaning against the wall of the ship and holding their face in their hands. Then, it hit. The ship crumpled on impact, glass windows shattering and shards going flying along with the gem who had resided inside the now destroyed ship. The pink gem hit the ground hard, being launched from their ship. Pain seared through her body, and she cried out again. Fire spun around the remnants of the ship, an explosion of shrapnel and a blaze so hot the pink gem could feel it from nearly fifty feet away.

She shook her head, pushing herself to sit up against a nearby tree, wiping her tears. She didn't have time to cry, she had to get somewhere safe and gather her thoughts. She couldn't believe it. Finally, after thousands of years stranded, she had made it to her destination. She had made it to Earth. I can finally be free, I can finally explore this legendary planet! The gem couldn't bring themself to stand, so she resorted to crawling away from the crash site. Once she was satisfied with how she had gotten and the level of cover she was under, she let herself rest.

What she had forgotten to do though, might cost her. The pink gem hadn't paid attention to her surroundings when she was still on the ship, or else she might have seen it. Seen the mass destruction that lay not a mile away from her. Might have seen the dark figure that stood atop a tree, staring down at her, watching her movements silently. She might have seen the danger, if only she hadn't let her panic blind her.

The last thing she remembered was the pain that racked her body harshly, and then, she poofed.
