"The standard of proof for a preliminary hearing is much less severe than one for a Trial. Even so, the evidence against the defendant is exceedingly thin."
Thea, Oliver, Diggle, Lance, and Felicity were sitting in the gallery.
"There is no forensic or circumstantial evidence that points to the defendant's guilt."
I looked back at Oliver.
He was pissed.
"But I found Quentin Lance's and Thea Queen's testimonies to be particularly compelling."
Lance and Thea glanced at each other.
"His credibility is bolstered by his status as a Police Captain. And her credibility as a victim."
Laurel smiled.
"But the fact that they were willing to incriminate themselves to see justice done makes their testimonies especially believable."
She looked back at them.
"On the strength of them, I am denying the defense's motion to dismiss and binding the defendant over for Trial."
"The DA's office will be seeking immunity in exchange for Quentin Lance's testimony. And also Thea Queen's testimony. And any other members of Team Green Arrow we might have to call to the stand."
"Are you kidding me?!" Fitzmartin yelled.
"No."
"The DA is Quentin Lance's daughter! She grew up with Thea Queen!"
"Actually, my recently revived little Sister grew up with Thea. I grew up with Oliver."

"I am accepting the prosecution's motion for immunity."
Laurel smiled.
"Mr. Darhk will be held without bail or possibility of release."

IAB had already cleared Lance of these charges.
I think it's because Laurel lit a fire under them as DA.
Laurel and Lance walked in.
"Plus, this time, you have immunity. IAB can't touch you for anything you say. And if they do, well, then, I'll just light another fire under them."
Both of them laughed.
"However, Black Canary will not be making an appearance in Court."
"Why not?"
"Because from the Green Arrow, Black Canary has a day job. That keeps her extremely busy."
"What? Like a City official?"
Laurel laughed.
Lance was amused.
"Exactly like a City official."
She walked away.
"Laurel is Black Canary?"
He cleared his throat.
"I have work to do."

Laurel had waived the 24/7 protection as DA.
I still had a protection detail on her.
Laurel arrived at the City Hall.
The detail wasn't with her.
"Damien Darhk. Man. I hate that guy." Adrian Chase expressed to Laurel.
"Yes. Absolutely."
I glowered at him.
"Something going on between Damien Darhk and the Mayor?"
"Not to my knowledge." She lied.
