Blitzo was in full leadership mode: giving order and preparing for action and adjusting his plans. Mobility and concealment are paramount when operating in an unfamiliar environment, so it was concealed pistols, knives, and because Millie insisted, a tomahawk. Hopefully they won't need all this, but since they are dealing with what looks like literal demons, who the hell really knows. Blitzo turned to Stolas next to see how his end of the preparations was going. "Any progress, Stolas?" "A little, but it is slow going. This book is an insane mixture of Aramaic and Norse runes, with another language that I have never seen before. I have only been able to glean this, this whole book is a glorified instruction manual on various spells and magical workings." "Okay, magic is real, we really did see literal demons on the other side of that stupid portal, no big deal. Just keep at it and tell us the moment you have anything on portals or why the fuck they took our family." A significant part of Blitzo's mental energy was put into not freaking out at this madness, but at least he was not alone. He had two other trained combat specialists and a man he loved who would do anything for the people he cared for.
The waiting was the worst part, with little else to do but be tormented by thoughts of the worst case scenario or be haunted by your past mistakes. Nothing haunted Blitzo more than how he lost the only member of his family besides his mother who truly loved him. It wasn't easy for Blitzo and Barbie growing up. His father was the almost perfect definition of a rat bastard; the last in a long line of carnies and circus folk, his family trade dying out thanks to new forms of entertainment and animal rights laws. The loss of his family legacy left him a bitter and restless man, working odd jobs, petty criminal acts, or on welfare for long periods of time. Blitzo's mother tried her best to keep the family together, but the stress and hard work gradually killed her well before her time. The only solace that Barbie and Blitzo found was in their friend Fizz, and the karate dojo he introduced them to.
Sensei Hanashiro was a good man who could see the tragedy in Blitzo's and Barbie's family, so he waived the sign-up fee and let them train at his dojo. Training together, the three of them became a bulwark against the poverty and abuse they faced at home. The only problem was the top student in the dojo, he was brash and arrogant, a bit of a bully when Hanashiro was not looking, but when he was finally caught and expelled, he just went to a rival dojo and started being a worse bully. This went on all the way up to highschool, when the statewide tournament was starting, and Blitzo was Hanashiro's representative, and he was able to take down the bully by using a sideways reverse head scissors. While things were going well for Blitzo, Barbie was beginning to struggle. A nasty breakup was what began her spiral downward as she self medicated her sorrow with a lot of drinking that soon evolved into harder drugs.
What truly tormented Blitzo after the fact was that he was largely oblivious to this at first. He was preparing to join the army and get away from the poverty of his home. While on deployment, he received the news that his sister had been arrested with 30 kg of heroin in her car. Blitzo was shocked, he did everything he could to get back home and help, he even managed to convince the judge to be lenient on Barbie, but it was too late. Barbie felt abandoned and deeply hurt by her brother's actions. When he finally managed to visit her in rehab, she told him she did not want to ever see him again. The pain from that parting helped to lead Blitzo down his own drinking problems, and the disastrous relationship with Mayday. But now he is finally sober and clear headed enough to save her when he failed before.
It was at that moment when Stolas interrupted his reflections on his past with a breakthrough on the translation of the book. "I've got it! I know how to open our own portals!" Blitzo was so happy he literally kissed Stolas then and there. Now they have a chance to bypass those lying, bickering, demonic assholes and get straight to Octavia and Barbie! It took a little while for the spell to be completed with a reasonable chance it would not kill them all, Stolas was nervous as all hell the whole time, but Blitzo could care less. He and M&M were armed and ready to save their loved ones, that was all that mattered to Blitzo. With a final breath before plunging into the unknown, he thought to himself, "I'm coming, Barbie."
