Prologue
Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Casey Jones, April O'Neil had been on patrol. But with the Shredder no longer around, there was nothing to do other than to prevent a bank robbery, or to demolish a criminal empire that wasn't as strong as the Shredder.
Michaelangelo, or known as Mikey, called his brothers and friends for something secretive. After getting back to the lair, they were met up with Money since he asked to stay in the lair for the night.
"Alright, Mikey, what are you up to this time?" Asked Leonardo, or Leo for short. Mikey cannot hold back a smile elicited on his face. As if he has a surprise. "Trust me, guys! This is gonna be a shock of a lifetime. Your minds are gonna blow!" Mikey shouted excitedly.
"Get to the point, Mikey!" Raph shouted. Mikey left his friends straight to the garage door. And pressed the button to open it. Revealing a group of human teenagers. "What the?!" Donnie shouted.
"Mikey, what is the meaning of this?! You know our existence was meant to be a secret and you brought complete strangers to our secret lair!" Leo scolded his youngest brother. But Mikey thought of a way for Leo to hear him out.
"Bro, hear me out. I came across those guys cause I saw them fighting the remnants of the Purple Dragons. While I was wandering around Central Park. You should've seen them." Mikey explains.
"Okay, but why did you bring them here?" Leo asked again.
"Cause I think you should be the one to teach them, Leo." Mikey said. Leo's eyes widened at the answer.
"What?! Mikey, I get you're enthusiastic about making new buddies and all. But..."
"Think about it, Leo. We can recruit more ninjas. Those guys are like us. Seeing April and Casey in action, I think those guys got potential." Mikey said it with confidence.
"Mikey, we can't recruit any more kids in the ninja rank. We cannot risk that."
"Leo, we are kids. And you're a Sensei now, you should have more students. As much as I want to disagree with Mikey, I think he might be onto something." April backed up with Mikey's claim.
"Yeah, check out that guy doing the lean kick!" Raph pointed at the rust-haired teenage boy dressed in red tank and cargo pants and kicked the punching bag. Sending it flying towards the wall. Astonished with the physical strength the other teenagers possessed.
Then one teenage girl with pink hair approach the group. "Excuse me, Mikey told us about you. And I must say, you guys are so cool!" She excitedly squeals as she took a selfie. "I am so posting this on social media!" This got Leo to take her phone away. "No, no one is posting anything on social media." Leo warned her and deleted the picture and gave it back to her.
"Aww!" The girl groaned.
"How did those kids know about us?" Donatello asked.
"Let me tell ya. It all started when we saw sightings of you and took pictures, alien invasions, mysterious creatures coming out of nowhere fighting crime. We tried to figure who you really are, but you are really good at hiding. We were unable to catch you on sight. I was part of the Newspaper club at the time. I was self-taught in aikido. But then Purple Dragons showed up and tried to kidnap me and my friends. We handled at least three of the members until Mikey showed up. And took us here." The girl explains. "I'm Celeste by the way."
"Okay, nice to meet you." Leo said. "But please understand that we can't accept any new students as of now."
"Aww! Leo!" Mikey whined.
"Mikey, I told you. We are not risking any more lives." Leo then turned to the human teenagers who are still looking around the dojo.
"As for the rest of you! Go home! And don't tell this to your parents!" Leo ordered the teenagers who just enjoyed hanging out. "Aww!" They all grained and left the lair. It might be safe for all of them to leave since there are no more Foot Bots.
"Not cool!"
"I was starting to enjoy the place!"
"What a buzzkill!"
"Way to go, Leo! You're ruining their fun!" Casey complained. "It would have been much cooler to have a team of ninjas. You know like superheroes!" Casey points out.
"We're not superheroes, Casey. We're ninja. I cannot bear the thought about teaching those kids, and let them get hurt! You have any idea how worrisome this will get?!" Leo disagree.
"Leo, this might be the chance to level you up as Sensei to this team. There are many kids that felt the need to protect not just others but also themselves. After our Sensei was gone, and our battle with the Shredder. It shouldn't be just the six of us handling the battles alone. Having more ninjas, it would do some good for New York. Maybe the world too. Being the ultimate team. Like the 47 Ronin." Said Mikey.
"You read the tales of the 47 Ronin?" Asked Leo.
"Well, yes. Okay, call it weird. But I was trying to understand you guys better." Mikey admits.
"You know, Mikey. For once you're staring to make sense." Raph admits. Agreeing that Leo should have more students for the new generation. But Leo still wouldn't budge. Not that he doesn't want to teach students. But the fact of putting more teenagers in dangerous missions. Even if he is still a teenager himself, he was still the most experienced alongside his brothers.
"I know what you're thinking Leo, but even Karai is using the Bradford dojo to teach a bunch of little kids that is now secretly a training course for new recruits to the Foot Clan." Raph said. This makes Leo shocked. "Wait, what?"
In the Bradford dojo, Karai is now a martial arts teacher for little kids ages 3-6. Who are going the be the next generation in the future. A little girl with orange hair is getting into a fighting position against a punching bag. While the parents are watching. But they didn't know this was actually a Foot Clan training course.
"Alright, Celene. Again." Karai told the little girl as she holds the punching bag for the kid to attack. Then the little girl runs straight towards the bag until she leaps higher than any 3-year-old can do, and than does the lean kick on the punching bag, and sent it flying towards the walls. "Hi-ya!" The girl shouted.
The parents watched in horror to see how strong the girl really is. Karai nods in approval. "Nice job. Okay, Brian, you're up." Walking in front of the line was a little boy, Brian after Celene walked out of the line to wait for the next lesson. He bowed to her as he also gets into fighting stance.
This got the parents concerned about the changes in the children's strength. But Celene's parents did not seem to care because they were cheering for her. "Yay, our princess is a champion!" Cheered Celene's mother. Her father is holding up a glittery sign with Celene's name on it.
"I know my baby can do it!" He cheered also, much to the disturbance of the other parents who are encouraging this class. In truth, she has been teaching them advanced ninjutsu.
From the rooftop outside, a woman wearing a mask of a kitsune over her face and an armor similar to Karai with long locks of brown hair. Watching from the glass window and all eyes are on Karai. Disdain and hate flows around her blood.
"We will meet again, Karai. Just you wait." Said the girl. She turned around and leaps off the roof. Vengeance and vendetta, that was the rule of the old Foot Clan. "Soon, I will take what was rightfully mine." She declared to herself before disappearing like an illusion. "For the Fist takes the Foot."
Back in the lair. Leonardo is still not phased with Mikey's suggestions. "That's doesn't count." Leo remarked. "Sorry, Mikey, but the answer is still no."
"Leo, please!" Mikey tried to use his puppy dog eyes to convince his elder brother. But Leo stood firm.
Leo tried to refuse lightly. Even if this is the new year, he wasn't sure if it is possible to recruit students in the lair. Considering his promise to his Sensei and father to protect his brothers from their secret getting out and the possibility of getting captured.
Even if some amateurs found out about their secret without anyone else knowing. Leo didn't want anyone else to die let alone having new students. His friends and brothers stood silent, waiting for his answer. "I need some time alone. I'll see you guys when I get home." Leo turned to exit the lair through the train tunnels and walked alone.
Meeting with Karai on the rooftops, both her and Leo had been busy. But since they got time in the night, that's when they catch on about their everyday lives. Without their old enemy, the Shredder, around. They didn't have to hide anything from each other.
"So Michaelangelo suggested you take in new students?" Karai asked. Sitting on the edge of the rooftops.
"I did not think Mikey would bring anyone to the lair. I'm surprised word about us didn't get out." Leo replied.
"Maybe it's a good thing." Said Karai, causing Leo to glance at her in surprise. "You too, Karai?" Asked Leo, a bit annoyed to hear her agreeing to this idea.
"Think about it, inexperienced they may be. But this way you guys didn't have to do it alone. Maybe it could be a start of change. Maybe Mikey sees something in them that you don't."
"I know. But what if I put them in harm's them if I started training them?" Leo questions. "Mikey means well, but I don't think that was a good idea." On the one hand, Leo seems to take his youngest brother's words into consideration. But was still against taking new students after the death of their master.
"Well, you may not know it unless you take the risk." Karai said. Leo unsheathes one of his sword to have a look at it. It was still carved with his nickname; Lame-O-Nardo. Though it was offensive for a joke the last time he saw it. But now he laughs a little for just looking back.
"I know what you're thinking that this wasn't what Father wouldn't want. But maybe..." Karai paused as she looks at Leo when the wind blows. It felt calm than harsh. Back when she was on the Shredder's side, the wind blows harsher during their sparring in a real fight. Now it was just relaxing.
Things did not feel the same with the Shredder and the Kraang out of the picture. There was nothing left other than patrols. Even so, they were still needed in the night. "...Maybe you should think about this. You can't close yourself like that, Leo." Said Karai.
Then she looks at her phone and receives a call. It was from her friend, Shinigami. "Sorehanandesuka (What is it)?" Karai picks up, and after hearing from her, Karai nods. "Wakatta, mata aimashÅ (Alright, see you there)."
Karai hangs up the phone and turned to Leo. "Sorry, Leo. I have to get back to the Foot Lair. I'll see you around." Karai then speeds off, then sprints on top of other buildings with her agility. Leo watches as she leaves. He wished this moment can last a bit longer, but knew it can't. He did the same to get back to the lair.
Trying to consider about the events that day. That said, out of nowhere, a fox-like Kunoichi from out of nowhere were spying on both Karai and Leo. She sensed something interesting about Leo as she observed his movements of combat and even practicing his sword skills.
"Interesting, a kame with the art of ninjutsu and swordsmanship. This should be worth a trip." Said the mysterious Kunoichi, as she disappeared into smoke and vanished.
Author's note: In this crossover, this is a crossover between TMNT and my fanfic series: Green Arrow and Speedy Beyond, a fanfic sequel of the Young Justice TV series with Connor Hawke as Green Arrow and Lian Harper as Speedy.
But who is the mysterious antagonist wanting revenge on Karai?
Reason for that was that I found Green Arrow also cool with crime fighting without superpowers.
Happy Independence Day, viewers!"
