The Front Line Season 01 Episode 10
We start out at the Watchtower where J'onn had been handling monitor duty and calls out "Diana, Hawkgirl, come quick!"
The two women of the Front Lines come over as quick as they could and the Hawkgirl questions "What is it J'onn?"
"New York City, it's just gone." The Martian explained to them while messing with controls on the monitors.
"That's impossible, what could do something like that?" Diana spoke having a hard time believing that it could just vanish like that.
"See for yourself, censors indicate that the city has vanished without a trace." J'onn stated showing them the information on the monitors.
"Weren't Dan and Spider-Man down there?" Hawkgirl questioned about who was down there. "Along with the rest of the cluster? We should try to contact them."
"Agreed, Dan, Spider-Man, are you two alright? Agent Venom, Ghost Spider, Anti-Venom, Colonel Jupiter, is everyone okay?" Diana called pressing the com button trying to get anyone.
Meanwhile Dan Spider-Man, and Agent Venom were waking up alongside Solovar. "Ow my head, anyone get the number of that truck?" Spider-Man questioned rubbing his temples having a pounding headache.
"This is no laughing matter, Grodd has escaped with his accomplice." Solovar stated about what had occoured.
"This time we're calling in backup. Dan to the Watchtower, anyone there. Watchtower do you read?" The half ghost called into the communicator. "No good, external communications are down."
Spider-Man tried his own communications through the badge but got nothing. "No good with the badge either. Line to the outside is completely dead."
"And with good reason, take a look around." Solovar stated to them gesturing to the energy field that was around the city. "It's just like the shield that protects my city, nothing can get in or out."
"So what about who's already here?" Agent Venom questions and tried to contact the other cluster members. "Anyone there, come in?"
We then cut to J'onn alongside Diana and Hawkgirl using a Javeline to get to where they needed to go with the amazonian princess stating "We're approaching New York." as they flew to check things out.
"You mean where it used to be." Hawkgirl corrected as an alarm began to go off on the ship confusing them.
"Proximity alert, when there's nothing there?" J'onn questioned as they'd then seemingly hit and scraped against the side of something that they were unable to see sending them into a nosedive as he'd just barely managed to pull them out of it and caused them to have a very bumpy landing though thankfully they were all okay.
They'd gotten out and Hawkgirl questions "What did we hit exactly?" while the three began to feel around for anything.
"It appears to be some sort of energy field." Wonder Woman told them as she'd felt the forcefield in front of them. "J'onn can you phase through it?"
The Martain tried his own phasing ability but was forced back stating "It seems to be an asyncronistic dimensional interface."
Hakwgirl holds up her electrified mace and says "Let me take a whack at it." and tried to hit it before J'onn could warn them getting zapped by the energy and knocked back in the process.
Meanwhile inside Agent Venom didn't have any luck getting through to anyone and the group began to search around. 'It would seem that the populace has chosent to vacate all local premises, I find this to be rather.. unnerving.' the symbiote put into the black suited hero's head spaking to him through their thoughts.
"Um.. what?" Agent Venom questioned aloud as they were swinging around trying to see if they could find any of the rest of their group. 'It means I don't like how quiet it is, it's creepy.' The Symbiote then dumbed down to their bonded host. "Now that I agree with."
They'd began to hear people cheering and they all went to investigate while avoiding being seen "We're too late, they're already under his control." Solovar stated seeing the group cheering for Grodd.
Meanwhile Wonder Woman was getting a call from Ben who'd been checking things out and calls "Diana, I've analized the information on the forcefield you've sent. So far no way on how to break it, but I've discovered a second signature but it's in Africa."
"Could the city have been transported there?" J'onn questioned getting the same informationg through his communicator as well.
"It's highly unlikely as the signature isn't like any known energies given off when teleportation occours. But I'd still say it's worth checking out." Ben answered back about all that. "I'm sending coordinates to the onboard gps now, I'll rendezvous with you there."
Meanwhile inside the barrier Grodd had started speaking calling out "People of New York City, the age of simpleminded hairless apes is over. Today, a new age dawns, today Grodd rules." and making the crowds cheer around them. "Humans are slow, ugly, immoral, and have an unpleasant body odor."
"HEY, I Resemble that Remark." A red and yellow flying creature resembling a dragon stated moving over towards them and blasted fire from his mouth at the Gorilla making him have to jump out of the way and began focusing sending a large man in a rhino costume charging at them and he'd had to fly up further to dodge it.
"Must you heckle the supervillains?" a guy with short hair questioned before holding up something and calling out ""Corrupt everything Jericho!" and summoned forth a large skeletal creature that floated swooping down at the crowds scaring them and making most scatter.
"Well, you know how he loves to hear himself talk." A guy with shorter hair spoke holding up something too and called out "Link together, Chaingolem!" and summoned a creatured that appeared to be made out of cain links that had wrapped these chains around the Rhino guy.
"I have no idea who those guys are." Agent Venom stated about what was going on with the people showing up.
Meanwhile the others had met up save for Lok who had things he had to take care of, and the three landed the javeline next to where Ben had been waiting for them. "There's no question this one's identical to the one in New York." He'd told the three.
"Great, we couldn't get through that one either." Hawkgirl stated with a sigh while poking the forcefield with her finger.
"Fortunately there's a little someone in New York that potentially can." Ben answered back while something had shot at them suddenly causing them all to drop.
It didn't take long for them to wake up and a Gorilla had opened the door in front of them stating "They are in there sir." moving to the side allowing another gorilla who had a scar over one of their eyes then walked in as well.
"Where are we?" Diana questioned about what's going on exactly "Who's in charge around here?"
"You misunderstand the situation intruder, you will answer my questions." The one with the scar stated to them.
"I mean, technically we aren't intruders since we were outside of your city and then you attacked and then dragged us into your city yourself." Ben spoke up messing with the cuffs around himself.
"You want us to answer your questions, sure. Just let us out of these cuffs and we'll talk." Hawkgirl stated to what they were asking.
The one with the scar puts his hand around hawkgirl's jaw while saying "It is not my policy to allow spies to roam freely." and she'd gone to bite him but he'd pulled his hand away before she could.
"We are not spies." J'onn stated speaking up next though Ben made a silent gesture for the martian not to overdo it.
"Look, long story short one of the human cities vanished and there's an energy signature around where it should be that matches the one around your city, we were just here to investigate if it had anything to do with what happened and to possibly find a way to undo it. That's it." Ben stated to the Gorilla in charge.
Meanwhile with the others an all out brawl between heroes and mind controlled villains had been taking place while Solovar had called "We need to go after Grodd. He'll most likely be looking for a military base."
"Go, we'll cover you." Ghost Spider called out to the three telling them to go after the Gorilla that'd attacked them.
With a nod Spider-Man, Dan Phantom, and Solovar all three raced off to go after Grodd and we then cut to a guy with green armbands that started from the wrists and worked their way up around halfway up the forearms and a small black and green creature that'd barked out "Ship Ship." as they'd found the research facility.
The two Front Line members and thir gorilla ally raced over to the military base where they'd heard alarms going off and they see missiles being launched out.
"I'll go after the missiles, you two stop Grodd." Dan called flying after the explosives following them as the barrier had gone down around the city entirely.
"Right.. wait, how?" Spider-Man spoke going to head inside before then questioning how they'd do that exactly.
Meanwhile Dan created duplicates of himself and flown to catch up with the explosives and had began to disarm them rewiring the first one to drop into the ocean and to not explode before moving onto the next one.
Back with the others the gorilla with the scar had struck J'onn knocking him into a wall before grabbing him up and calling "Quit stalling Spy, tell me who sent you?"
"We already told you why we are here." J'onn answered back angering them since they weren't convinced of that.
"LIES!" He'd then called knocking J'onn down onto the ground before walking over towards the others stating "I want the truth, or you'll all pay most dearly. Statring with you." He'd spoken stopping in front of hawkgirl.
"Take your best shot." She'd told him not fearing this guy in the slightest and he'd prepared to strike here however a green flash appeared in front of them and the gorillas were all suddenly blasted with webbing as a blue six limbed chimp was now in front of them.
"Look, we've already told you why we're here. If we wanted you all dead we'd have done it by now." The little Spidermonkey stated to them annoyed.
Hawkgirl picked up her mace and broke through the wall calling "Alright let's go!" and the others nodded following after her with security hot on their trails.
They all moved around the city with Dana questioning "What madness is this?" while seeing all the inhabitants were gorillas as well.
"Let's not wait around to find out." Hawkgirl answered back as they'd all headed to try to leave the city but both she and Diana hit the barrier with J'onn managing to catch the two of them as they were falling and landed safely.
"Try to escape like that again, and I promise you will regret it." The Gorilla with the scar stated having them surrounded however Spidermonkey just raised an eyebrow in response and the shield began to fade. "The shield wall it's fading, get it back up immediately!" He'd then spoken to a gorilla with a remote.
"It's not responding." The one with the remote answered back about what's going on and then adds "Someone must have overridden the system."
"Sir, we've detected multiple armed missiles headed this way." Another of the gorillas called out about what was happening. "What are your orders sir?"
"Evacuate the city immediately, we've got bigger problems than these intruders." The main one spoke up turning to go help with that.
"Allow us to help." Spidermonkey called out hitting the strange symbol that had been on him and changed into a different form now taking on the form of broken stone with a mask for a face with no actal features just holes where his eyes and mouth should be and he'd been held together by strange technology. "Roadblock can create any kind of barrier. You guys go and I'll put up a shield!"
The others nodded and flew off while Roadblock created a barrier around as much of the city as he possibly could. "Why would you help us?" The leader then questioned as to the reason for what they were doing.
"People are people, doesn't matter what species they are I know that first hand." Roadblock answered back to them surprising the gorillas who began to chatter among theirselves.
Meanwhile Dan had managed to rip out the mechanics of the first missile he caught up to making it drop into the ocean and the woman that was with Grodd stated "The first missile has gone offline."
"What? How?" Grodd then questioned getting up in his chair and going to check the equipment as well.
"Best Guess, my half ghost pal." Spider-Man stated leaning against the entrace with Solovar beside him.
The other went to ty to stop the missiles with one of them managing to get past as they were all busy stopping the others and the gorillas began to scatter with the one that was scarred calling "We need to escape!"
Roadblock however called out "I CAN'T! The barrier is too big for me to move freely, if I try to run the sheild goes down!" and remained where he was as the missile strucke the barrier and caused a massive explosion freaking everoyne out as the impact zone of the shield had cracked and pieces of it had shattered in the explosion with it dissipating before the shards hit the ground.
The other Missiles were all dealt with and once it was safe he dropped the shield and changed back to his human form again sighing and wiping his brow before then falling onto his back stating "That was.. exhasuting."
The others then came down to join Ben with Wonder Woman telling them "The fates were kind today, your city is safe." and the gorillas around all began to cheer hearing that.
Meanwhile Grodd was angry and calls "I'll rip you limb from limb!" charging at Spider-Man who'd dodged out of the way.
"Y'know Grodd I'm curious, you realize I'm a spider yes?" The wallcrawler questioned him reminding them of that fact.
"Meaning what exactly?" Grodd questioned as Spidey then punched him into a wall with ease knocking him through it like it was moist rice paper.
"Meaning I hit harder than you." He'd stated as Grodd had gotten angry standing up with clear dents in his helmet and getting angry they'd tried to use the mind control helmet on them but Spidey calls out "DON'T!" but it was too late he'd had his brain fried by his own device.
Later on back at Gorilla city the one with the scar was apologizing to the Front Line members saying "I'm sorry that we misjudged you we can never repay you for what you've done."
"Y'know there's a lot we can learn about each other, how about an ally agreement? You need help with anything you can call on us, and if something like what happened today ever happens again, then we can call on you for help deal?" Ben spoke asking if they'd agree to ally with them and help if they ever needed it.
"I believe having friends around the outside world may be a good idea as it means we have help to call upon with things bigger than just our city." Solovar stated to the one with the scar who'd nodded in response.
"You've got yourself a deal, provided you do not tell anyone of our city until we feel it is safe for us to be know by the outside world." The leader spoke and Ben nodded shaking hands with the leader of the gorillas.
