The Front Line Season 01 Episode 12
We see that J'onn had been speaking telepathically to a group of aliens as some of the Front line members were on an alien world as he'd told the speices telepathically not to worry as we see Dan, Atomix, and Hawkgirl putting together a very large device while in a snowstorm. We then also see Atomix changing into XLR8 running around and hooking everything up.
"Status report?" J'onn questioned over the com as XLR8 had been putting everything together.
"Just keep beaming the instructions into my head and I'll have it done right about.. now." XLR8 answered back finishing the activation of the device and they'd then ran to catch up with the others.
The device had worked and the icy planet they were one had stabilized and XLR8 says "Not a bad way to start off the holidays."
"Uh, ya. You guys go ahead I'll get Wulf to claw my way back home." Dan stated and flew off for a bit.
"I'll catch a ride with him." Hawkgirl states flying after them while the other two just watch them go.
"So, you got any plans for the holidays?" Ben then asked J'onn as they were getting onto the Javeline.
"I'm afraid this season has no meaning for me." J'onn answered back and then got back onto the ship after doing so.
"Then let's do something about that." Ben spoke to himself as he'd done the same and began to head off.
We then cut to what Dan was doing as he'd used his ghost powers to make a shield that he'd been using as a snowboard heading down one of the slopes while Hawkgirl was watching.
When he'd made it back down to where she was Hawkgirl says "You can actually fly, but sliding down a snowy hill makes you shriek like a child?"
"It's one of the few things I retained a love of despite how I ended up in my time." Dan explained to her. "You should try it."
"Uh, no thanks I don't really see the appeal." She'd answered turning to walk off but a snowball hit her in the back of the head. "Hey, what was that for?"
"It's meant to be fun." Den answered tossing up a snowball and catching it before throwing it at her.
"Alright then, let's have fun." She'd spoke taking her mace and scraping it along the ground kicking up a pile over him.
Meanwhile there was a woman who was talking to some children and says "Y'know that jolly man in the red suit will be here soon."
We then see Spider-Man coming down from the ceiling on a webline calling "Ho ho ho kids." exciting them all to see him as he'd dropped from the web before asking "Have you all been good this year?"
The children all cheered out and the woman says "You can bet they've been good when it comes to seeing their favorite hero."
"And don't forget the present, so what'll it be?" Spider-Man spoke to the kids asking what they'd wanted.
"Well there is one thing.." One of the orphans stated and then the group pulled him to the tv when the commerical for what they wanted had come on though Spidey seemed disguisted by the duck making farting noises the kids loved it.
"So that's what you guys want?" The wallcrawler questioned the kids and they'd all cheered in response. "Alright then I'll see what I can do."
"Uh, you may not wanna get their hopes up. Stores have been sold out for weeks." The woman stated to Spider-Man.
"Hey, if I can beat back a super intelegent gorilla finding a toy should be no problem." he'd answered back and headed out to go find the toy as the children all cheered.
We then cut to J'onn speaking with Ben saying "This was a bad idea." as he'd followed him through Bellwood and towards his house.
"C'mon I've got the monitor duty covered there's no reason to worry." Ben told them as he'd led him off to the house where his family was gathered for the holidays. "J'onn, you already know Gwen and Wolf, but this is Sandra and Carl, my mom and dad, Gwen's mom and dad Frank and Natalie, my grandpa Max, Grandma Verdona, my little bro Albedo, and finally this one is Ship. Don't just stand there, come on in."
"Hello everyone, I hope that I'm not intruding." J'onn spoke saying hello before adding "Ben was most insistant that i join you for the holidays, my name is J'onn J'onzz I am a Martian."
"Well don't just stand there, come on in, make yourself at home." Max spoke going over and helping J'onn to come and join them.
"We've got plent of guest rooms. C'mon I'll show you to one you can stay in." Ben told J'onn taking him to an empty room letting him head on inside. "Hope it's to your liking should feel nice and cozy with the way Gwen decorated the place."
"I have never heard you speak so relaxed before." J'onn stated going into the room to go and sit on the bed.
"Well with my job as a Magister in the plumbers alongside being a part of the P.H.D. plus my bounty hunting and member of the Front Line well I kinda have to have an air of authority, but here is where I can just relax and be me without all the bells and whistles to have a need to act a certain way." Ben explained to him.
"Ben, come on it's time to light the tree." Carl called out and Ben headed off to go deal with that as Wolf had come into the room.
"Hello." J'onn spoke as Wolf went over sitting in front of him letting J'onn pat his head relaxed.
We then cut to Spider-Man again as he'd found all the different stores were sold out and he'd seen a decoration of a toy line and says "That might work." before swinging off.
We then cut to him in a factory carrying out the toy brand new in box alongside a man who says "This is the last one we have left since holiday break is right now but we are happy to give it to the hero Spider-Man to brighting up children's lives."
"Thank you so very much, it'll mean a lot to the kids." Spidey spoke thanking the man and headed off as the man waved goodbye.
Moving off we see that Lok was sharing the holidays with friends and family as they were having a good time before jumping back to Ben with his family alongside J'onn having a good time as they were laughing about different stuff.
"J'onn Natalie and I often volunteer at the shelter and make sure everyone gets a gift." Sandra tells him about what they do.
"And no one goes without at least one gift but we always get extra just incase." Natalie then stated to them and the two set a box in front of him.
"But I brought no gift for you.." He'd answered back though they just wave that off in response.
"Nonsense your company is more than enough go ahead and open it." Sandra then told him gestruring for him to go ahead.
He'd opened it up and found a yellow and brown sweater stating "It's lovely." before going to put it on.
"We weren't quite sure about the size." Natalie then stated as it did seem a little big on him but he'd used his shapechanging ability to make it fit just right.
"I can grow into it, thank you for your hospitality." He'd told them glad that they'd offered him the gift at all.
Cutting back to Spider-Man he'd been on his way to the kids when he'd noticed a museum was being broken into and went to invesitgate putting the duck somewhere it should be safe at saying "Stick around we'll get to the kids later, man, someone did a number on this place." he'd then added seeing everything looking all screwed up.
"Actually I hadn't even started yet." A voice spoke as Ultrahumanite had come into vew "Do you believe the amount of funding spent on this horrendous excuse for modern art?"
"Well why don't I take you back to prison where you won't have to look at those ugly sculptures anymore." Spider-Man then spoke as humanite had been shotting at him hitting a clock that dropped on top of him.
"Well, this may be a joyous holiday after all." Ultra Humanite stated about to blast the wallcrawler but he'd gotten up throwing the face of the clock at him and knocking them back and he'd hit the ground with a cruch sounding.
"No!" Spiey then called out moving the Humanite and finding the duck toy broken into multiple pieces.
"Oh what a shame I broke your toy." Humanite spoke about what'd happend as Spidey had been trying to put it back together.
"This was meant to be gifted to kids at an orphanage who really needed something to brighten up their year." The wallcrawler stated surprising the Ultra Humanite about what he'd had it for. "For a creep who thinks he's the personification of human advancement I'd think you'd of all people would know how important it is to pass on some good will to children who really need some. I'd like to think they'd grow up to pass that good will along to others."
Ultra Humanite hit Spider-Man as he was distracted even with his spider sense going off and then woke up to humanite working on the toy. "You'll be happy to know your words did not fall upon def ears, you'll have your toy to give to the children. I'm making a few modifications as well for now, I'll call a holiday truce with you."
"Okay but why did you hit me?" Spidey then questioned him as Humanite was fixing the toy for them.
"You hit me first." Humanite then reminded him before adding "Now hand me that screwdriver." wich the webslinger then does.
We then cut back to Dan and Hawkgirl who'd gone to join up with the rest of Team Phantom for the holidays and see that they'd been having fun together before moving back to J'onn sitting in the room before phasing out and going into the city disguising himself as a human and began to wander around.
He'd heard a little girl talking about santa being real and eating cookies so he'd flown up stomping around on the roof gently as if there were mutiple feet up there before reaching down the chimney with his shapeshifting taking a cookie and finding that he'd liked the taste of it before flying off to a explore more coming upon a church where people were singing.
We then cut back to a building that had two shadows on it and hear Ultra Humanite saying "I won't wear it."
We hear Spider-Man's voice saying "C'mon it's just so you don't scare the kids besides I'm wearing the beard." as we see a hat be put on humanite's shadow.
"Oh the indignity." Humante spoke as we then cut to the inside of the building where Spidey comes in through the door saying "Ho ho ho, it's your friendly neighborhood Spidey-Clause." and the kids start to cheer. "And I've got a special helper, freaky the snowman." He'd then added pulling Humanite in with the duck toy.
"Just give them the toy and take me to jail." Ultra Humanite stated to him annoyed and put the toy down turning it on as it'd started playing the nutcracker suite and had his voice telling them the story.
"Is that the story of the Nutcracker Prince?" Spidey questioned him as Ultra Humanite nodded in response.
"An improvement wouldn't you say?" The humanite then questioned looking proud of himself.
"Considering it used to make farting noises, absolutely." The wallcralwer answered back as the kids seemed to like the story and the music playing along with it.
We then fade to Ultra Humanite being taken to a cell and questions "Haven't I seen enough of you for one night?" while he was being uncuffed.
"I just wanted to say thanks again for helping out earlier." The webslinger stated to him though Humanite didn't seem to care.
"I did it for the children, I welcome any chance to bring culture to the uncorrupted." The inmate answered back.
"Sure, but I figure you might like a little holiday cheer yourself." Spider-Man then stated moving to the side revealing a small silver christmas tree with ornaments hanging from it along with a wooden nutcracker toy made just like in the description of the version that Humanite had put into the duck toy earlier.
"It's very nice, the guard will show you out." Ultra Humanite stated telling Spider-Man to leave, though as he was on his way out of the building we see Humanite moving the mechanism on the nutcracker toy discovering a note inside the toy from the children thanking him for the great story and that did brighten up his year just a little bit more.
We then move to later when Peter had gone to a party at Harry Osborn's house alongside Gwen Stacy, Flash Thompson, John Jameson, Eddie Brock, Sha Shan Nguyen, Aunty May, Liz Allan, and many other people.
"Why are we here again? Norman's in prison remember." J. Jonah Jameson questions his son about why they had to go to this party.
"C'mon pop live alittle it'll be fun." John spoke before then whistling and calling out "Yo Peter!" Getting Parker's attention and gestured for him to look up above him.
Peter then does so seeing that where he and Liz had been was directly under the mistletoe and he scratched the side of his head back past his ear awkwardly but Liz leaned forwards waiting for him to kiss her, which he'd done though embarrassed because of having an audience as everyone had been watching them. Followed by Flash and Eddie giving teasing whoops making it so much more embarrassing.
Finally it was the next morning and people were opening up presents all over at the Tennyson household and after cleaning up Ben spoke up saying "J'onn, I know you said that the year end holidays have no meaning for you, but I'm hoping that this next gift might change your mind."
This confused the Martain as Ben walked over to the door and opened it letting him see who'd also finally arrived just in time for the holidays. There in the doorway were two martians to greet them as J'onn questions "Is it really you, J'ann, M'gann?" and the two martians nodded in response as the three had shared a joyful tearfilled embrace.
