Later That Evening
"What the actual…"
"Please don't freak out, I'm as confused as you are!"
A scene of Kouta attempting to explain everything he knew to a flabbergasted Kai, who couldn't help but stare at the real-life Sackboy before him.
"In short, I was accidentally transported to this world, when I was supposed to meet with Kouta in mine… Would you stop poking me, good grief!"
"I'm sorry I can't help it! I know you're a ragdoll, but I didn't expect you to be as tall as the palm of my hand!"
"Well, what were you expecting?"
"Sackboy's got a point, any size larger than this wouldn't make sense. He's about the right size to be standing behind a Dualshock 3."
"Does Charlotte know yet?"
"I've tried contacting her, but she hasn't read my texts. I guess she's too occupied with important assignments to check her phone."
"Texts? Bro, call her!"
"What, are you crazy? I can't just do that!"
"Yeah, you're right. Sackboy, call her!"
"Yeah sure, hand me the phone."
"Absolutely not! Give me that!" Kouta panted in exhaustion. All this bickering was pointless, so he took it upon himself to call Charlotte himself. He just prayed he wasn't inconveniencing her at a time this late. The phone rang, while Kai and Sackboy waited and watched in anticipation.
"Have you two got nothing else better to do?!"
"Matter of fact, no. This is literally the next part of the plan."
"Whatever Sackboy says, goes, bro."
"Do not encourage him!"
The phone connected, and a mature feminine voice could be heard from the other end.
"Hello? Kouta?"
"A-Ah, hi Char! I hope I'm not inconveniencing you…"
"No, not at all! I'm sorry if I haven't been responding to your texts; there's a few assignments I've had my hands full of the past few days."
"I understand. I'm really proud of you for working so hard, Char."
"Would you two start going out already?!" Kai butted in their conversation. He always made it his goal to tease Kouta whenever the opportunity presented itself.
"K-Kai shut up!"
"Aww Kai's there too? Hi Kai!"
"And a good evening to you too, Miss Busy Bee. Kouta and I have been meaning to ask for you to come over, even if it's for five minutes! What do ya say?"
There was an awkward silence for a few moments. Kouta, Kai and Sackboy wondered if the call didn't disconnect by accident.
"Char, you there?"
"O-Oh yes! Uhm… I… don't know. These assignments are…"
"Assignments this, assignments that, would you get over here already, Busy Bee! You wouldn't wanna make Kouta sad now, would you?"
"Would you stop that? Oh my God!"
There was another pause. At this point they'd be satisfied with any answer.
"Give me a few minutes. I'll be right over."
"Hah! See? Works every time." Kai said with a smug grin. Kouta just shook his head in a mix of disbelief and embarrassment.
At Charlotte's Home
Charlotte ended the call, putting the phone down.
She fell onto her bed, her back pressed against a handful of books, pillows and plushies, one of them which was a spitting image of the Sackgirl she always used when playing LittleBigPlanet with Kouta.
"With Kouta…"
Her face was a little redder than before the call. She couldn't show it, but she was immensely happy to have received a call from the man she's adored for years. In fact, she was on the brink of confessing to him just recently, but all that confidence melted with the passing of Naoki. The timing just wouldn't have been right. Thus, Charlotte remained reserved and decided to hide her true feelings for when the time was right. She looked at the full-length mirror on the side of the room, wondering what to wear before heading to Kouta's place.
"Oooh get it together Charlotte! It's just a hangout at Kouta's. Nothing crazy will happen!" She reassured herself, steeling away her assumptions. She nodded to herself in the mirror, regained her usual cheery side and smiled.
At Kouta's Home
Charlotte was in an absolute shock. Something crazy did indeed happen.
"Wh-wh-wh… H-How did y-you…"
"*Sigh* at this point I realised how weird this must have made me look the first time huh, Sackboy?"
"D-Don't call me weird! I didn't know you were calling me for… for this!"
A scene of the Kouta, Kai and a very perplexed Charlotte surrounding Sackboy in Kouta's bedroom. Without knowing it, Kouta had already spent a full twenty-four hours with Sackboy and now understood his reason for being here. Charlotte was at a loss for words. Even so, she was purely fascinated and wanted to find out what he could do in this world.
"Sackboy, are you able to use your Popit in this world?" Charlotte asked Sackboy.
"Huh. I never thought of that until now. Let's see."
The three slowly backed away, as if something spectacular was about to happen. Much to Charlotte's satisfaction, the Popit sound effect was heard, and the Popit menu floated above their heads.
"No way! That's the first time I've seen him do that!" Kouta exclaimed.
"Kouta says he's already been here for a whole day, so I'm surprised you haven't asked him all this time, bro" Kai added. Now all three of them were curious of what Sackboy had stored in his arsenal, and whether these items would materialise in the real world.
"Alright alright, I get that you're all super blown away and all but hear me out first. If you haven't looked closely enough at my Popit, I can only function in Play Mode outside of Craftworld. I tried switching modes, but it's not possible."
"I'm a bit relieved by that. If you were in Create Mode, you'd be able to fly all over the place like some crazy bird!" Charlotte laughed.
"I am no Swoop! Then again, you've got a point. I'm physically limited to the ground by gravity, just like everyone else here. Although I've got a bunch of stickers and decorations… Oh what's this, Snapshots? Let's check this out!"
Sackboy was scrolling through Snapshots of what seemed to have been taken by Kouta and his crew over the years. He found multiple ones of three Sackboys and a Sackgirl. Among them was Yellow Head, the Sackboy used by Naoki. Kai and Charlotte looked at Kouta, expecting him to be sad. However, this time he was pretty calm for once.
"I thought all these were lost to time. Thank you Sackboy, for treasuring our memories."
"It's a pleasure, my friend." Sackboy smiled. He knew these Snapshots were priceless to everyone currently in the room.
"Wait a sec Sackboy, I don't remember seeing these." Kouta noticed a couple more Snapshots taken after the last time he and Naoki played together.
"A-Ah yes, that was me! I was getting a little bored and wanted to test out this feature out of my own accord…"
That was half true. The real reason was to document the current crisis unfolding at Craftworld, the chaos and darkness slowly enveloping the world as they know it. The three of them were horrified.
"S-Sackboy, is this happening right now? Is this what Kouta was talking about?" Charlotte was terrified. Sackboy could only nod. The Imagisphere was slowly fading into nothingness, with Craftworld and everything along with it. There was no longer an energy source of creativity left for them, so it was bound to happen.
"How can we help, little dude? Just say the word and we'll fix it!" Kai snapped, refusing to give up the place they called home for practically their entire childhood. Charlotte and Kouta nodded in agreement. Craftworld needed saving once more, and these three friends were its last hope.
They all turned to Sackboy and awaited his response. Sackboy looked up towards the three of them and smiled again. He managed to reunite his favourite trio, and although they were not exactly ready for what was about to unfold, he believed in them. In Charlotte's intuition. In Kai's precision…
…and most especially, in Kouta's leadership.
Screen fades to white.
