Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars or anything else you may recognize
I love this show, its some of my most favorite Star Wars content ever, but this arc is one of my least favorites.
While both Anakin and Padmé could have handled the situation better, the writing of this arc in general wasn't the best.
Enjoy.
Coruscant
Anakin was walking out of Padmé's room, his wife looking down at her hands, not saying much. They had both been silent after her apology to him back at Scipio.
But Anakin didn't want it to be that way. Not after everything that had happened.
Taking in a deep breath, Anakin let it out. "I'm sorry about Clovis."
A pause.
"I'm not."
Anakin turned to look at Padmé, his face showing his surprise. "Why?" Of course, he did not like the man one bit, but he was expecting Padmé to be saddened over his death, due to their old friendship.
"You were right about him", she sighed, looking up to face her husband as she stood up and walked to him.
"I did go too far in beating him up though", Anakin pointed out.
"That is true, but I should not have trusted him, not after last time", Padmé said, feeling disgust rise within her as she decided to talk about what was really important. "But before you came in, he asked about us. I denied any relationship, and then he tried to kiss me, even after I said 'no'."
Anakin clutched his fists angrily, now wishing Clovis was alive so he could kill the man himself.
"I think I was so obsessed with finishing this entire mess with the Banking Clan, that I ignored my other instincts", Padmé confessed. "Clovis had bad intentions regarding me, and you were just trying to keep me safe, even if you let your emotions get the better of you. But Clovis, he is not the man who used to be my friend. Hasn't been for a long time."
Anakin nodded, calming down as she grasped his hand, both looking at each other while she said. "I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry too."
With that, they kissed, glad to have finally cleared up the issue.
While Anakin did let his emotions get the better of him, after last time, who would trust Clovis?
And the elephant in the room- Clovis tried to force a kiss on Padmé after she said 'no'. How many rapes begin in that manner?
So frankly, Anakin wasn't wrong to beat the bastard up. They tried to portray Anakin as irrationally jealous, but truth is, Clovis did not have good intentions.
Plus, these episodes really misrepresented Padmé's character. Sure, she is kind and forgiving, but not this much.
And I don't think any women were there when they wrote this scene. No woman would show sympathy to her aggressor and not her saviour.
The real reason why Clovis let himself fall to his death is so he could sneak a peek up Padmé's dress, and no one can change my mind.
Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with some other update.
