"What is this?" asked Jade as she looked at the chain while still not moving an inch from the position she had frozen in.

"Your life chain, all I have to do is rip it out and you will die instantly," said Death.

"Same goes for the rest of you if you try anything funny," he said while more chains appeared which led to the rest of the team.

"Wait," said Ruby.

"I haven't answered your question yet," she said.

"Then go ahead, tell me why you're not afraid of me even when the rest of them are," said Death while putting his attention back onto her.

"Just like light and darkness, life can't exist without death and vice versa," said Ruby.

"So, if I fear death then I'll also be fearing life, which is no way to live and I refuse to live like that," she said without any sign of emotions at all as she spoke.

"Something about you is different from the other humans I have met," said Death.

"Even the amount of magic you have is far more superior to that of a sorcerer, but you can't be one of the humans I am thinking of," he said.

"One of who?" asked Tohru.

"A sage, beings that rose from normal humans and nearly became Gods back in the age of demons when Shendu and the others ruled the Earth," said Death.

"But the last of them died long before the demons were sealed and nothing but legends were left behind of them and the things they had done," he said.

"All I know is that I've had strange magical powers for a while now and I don't know how to explain them," said Ruby. Before Death could say a word, he noticed a flash of light come from the girl's eyes.

"Now I understand," said Death while releasing everyone's chains.

"Does this mean you will help us?" asked Jackie.

"I will, but none of you may come with, only she can," said Death while looking from Jade and the others to Ruby.

"No we…," said Paco, only stopping when he noticed the look on Ruby's face.

"It's alright, he won't hurt me so just wait here," said Ruby. She and Death then vanished in a puff of smoke, leaving everyone surprised.
