The trial room was filled with tension. Makoto Naegi had figured out that the Junko Enoshima they saw die at the start of this awful Killing Game wasn't the real Junko Enoshima but, in fact, her twin sister Mukuro Ikusaba.
Makoto pointed his finger at Monokuma. The tiny robot bear acted as the Headmaster during the Killing Game.
"Come out of hiding, Enoshima!" Makoto demanded.
A puff of smoke appeared, and the six survivors heard a giggle behind the smoke. As the smoke vanished, the six students saw the real Junko Enoshima.
"Ta fucking da!" Junko said as she stretched out her arms. "Oh, my Naegi, you are smarter than I took you for."
"It's over, Enoshima!" Makoto said firmly. "This game can stop right now!"
"Stop, you say?" Junko grinned. "Oh no, my little Naegi. The fun is just beginning. Let me spice things up a notch, I've had a helping hand from someone to set up this whole gig, and that person is standing in this room right now."
"What?" Byakuya said, shocked as he began to look at the remaining students.
"Oh yes!" Junko giggled. "This person has been helping from the start, even before the Killing Game was an idea."
"There is no way!" Aoi said, defeated. During the game, she saw her fellow students die and her best friend, Sakura Ogami, commit suicide. The swimmer had enough of this awful game.
Byakuya continued to look at his classmates in deep thought. 'Right, I need to figure out who has already betrayed us. It can't be Naegi nor Asahina. The two of them are too pure. Kirigiri seems likely, but she did go out of her way to rescue Naegi after the last trial. Fukawa, hmm, maybe it's her. She does have two personalities, after all.' Byakuya looked at Hiro, and the former began to feel ill. 'It couldn't be that idiot? But what if that clown was acting stupid the whole time? That would be the perfect cover. Never to expect that clown to do anything clever.'
"What's wrong, rich boy?" Junko giggled. "Are you struggling to figure out who the partner is?"
"No, I think I know who it is," Byakuya replied.
Kyoko slowly turned her head to the Ultimate Heir, waiting for his answer.
"That clown Hiro," Byakuya replied as he pointed his finger at the Ultimate Clairvoyant. "Nobody can be that stupid and make it this far into the game."
"Togami has a p-point," Toko said nervously.
"Hey!" Hiro said, offended. "I'm not the bad guy here."
"Yes, of course, you're not," Byakuya annoyed. "Who do you take us for? You've been working with Enshoima. You're an easy target to kill, yet somehow, you are standing at the final trial. Nobody with your IQ could tiptoe around a killing game."
"Guys, I swear, I'm not working with Enoshima!" Hiro said with hope that the others would believe him.
"Togami, stop picking on Hiro," Aoi said, shaking her head. "I've had enough of all this death and senseless bickering. I want this game to stop right now." Tears began to run down Aoi's face. "Enoshima, please let us go! What did we do to deserve any of this?"
"Nothing," Junko replied honestly. "I love you guys. I honestly do. You guys are my friends, but my lust for despair is stronger. That is why I've set up this game. To see the despair on your faces, and I must admit, I loved every bit of the ride."
"Friends?" Aoi said, heartbroken. "How could we be friends?"
"Because we were before I wiped out everyone's memories, apart from myself, my dead sister and my partner," Junko said. "Those photos that were given to you were legit. Those pictures were taken when times were simpler."
Byakuya folded his arms. "That explains why we all woke up here, not knowing how we got here. We were always in this school, weren't we, Enoshima?"
"Maybe," Junko winked.
"Wait!" Makoto said quickly. "I saw a video of myself being asked by the Headmaster if I agreed to stay inside the school. This must have happened before we lost our memories."
"When did this happen?" Byakuya asked.
"An hour ago," Makoto replied. "But as soon as Enoshima appeared on the video, Monokuma stopped the footage playing further to prevent Enoshima from being caught out."
Aoi began to shake her head in confusion. "Why would we all agree to stay in a school that feels like a prison?"
"That I don't know," Byakuya replied as he folded his arms to think. "Maybe something has happened outside?"
Junko giggled as she enjoyed seeing her classmates struggle to think why they would agree to be locked inside a school.
Toko suddenly let out a sneeze as her other half took over.
"Sup, people, it's your friendly neighbourhood serial killer!" Genocider Sho said, then she began to lick her lips. Then she saw Junko standing before her. "Huh, Enoshima, is that you?"
"Yip," Junko nodded. "It appears you know who I am."
"Of course I do. We were classmates, after all."
"How did you know that?" Byakuya asked. "You can't be the traitor, can you?"
"Master, please, I would never betray you. I remember everything since Toko, and I don't share the same memories."
"If you are telling the truth," Aoi said. "Please tell us everything!"
"Oh boy, you lot better grab onto your podiums. It will be hard to take in what I'm about to say."
"Get it out, alright!" Byakuya demanded.
"Outside is a shit show. Thanks to the despair that covers the globe, the world is on the brink of collapse."
"Lies!" Aoi said in disbelief. "I can't believe that." A tear ran down Aoi's cheek as she thought about her parents and younger brother.
"Guys, she is telling the truth," Makoto said slowly. "Think about it, every single window is boarded, and in the garden centre on the fifth floor, the boarded windows were painted sky blue to represent the sky."
"Naegi makes a good point," Byakuya said. "Let's say that the world outside is a shit show. That leaves the biggest question. Who is working with Enoshima?"
"It's you, of course," Kyoko said finally after staying quiet the whole time.
"What me?" Byakuya scoffed. "What proof do you have?"
"You did tamper with Fujisaki's body after he died, and your attitude with all of us has been unpleasant at best," Kyoko replied.
"Kirigiri," Aoi said. "Togami is an arsehole in general. I don't think it's him."
"Then who?" Kyoko asked.
The room became silent. Nobody wanted to commit to naming the traitor officially.
Makoto put his head down and began to reflect on his time in this school during the Killing Game. Trying to find anything that stood out to him would help him discover who the traitor was. Unfortunately for Makoto, there was one person that screamed out at him. It was Kyoko.
She preferred to be alone, and nobody saw her unless a dead body appeared or a trial awaited. Then there was that unique key that she had, which gained her access to every room within the school. Did she steal it, as she claimed, or did Enoshima give it to her?
There was another thing that troubled Makoto. If Kyoko was indeed Junko's parnter. Why did Kyoko save him twice? Once from that masked person and the second time from the garbage dump. Junko must have found him an annoying problem, but why would Kyoko go out of her way to save him?
Makoto began to shake his head. He didn't want to believe that Kyoko was the traitor.
"Naegi, what's wrong?" Kyoko asked.
Makoto slowly raised his head and looked at Kyoko. "Kirigiri, there is something I want to ask."
"Go on?"
"Why did you save twice me?"
"Pardon?" Kyoko said, confused.
"You saved me from that masked person who tried to kill me when I was ill. You fought them off. Then the second time was hours ago when you rescued me from that dump. Enoshima found me as a problem to her plans, yet you saved me. Why? Was it to cover your tracks?"
"No, I do like you, Naegi," Kyoko replied bluntly. "If things were different, we would be dating right now."
"Wait, what?" Makoto said as his face grew red. He didn't expect that sort of answer.
"If things were different? What do you mean by that?" Byakuya asked.
Kyoko began to chuckle and slowly shook her head. "Oh my, if my grandfather could only see me now. He would be disgusted with me."
"Kirigiri?" Aoi said, confused by the former's burst of emotions.
"Falling in love with a boy," Kyoko continued as she stared at Makoto in a way that scared the latter. "That was something that my grandfather was against. He thought it would make me emotionally weak. But he was wrong. I'm not emotionally weak. If I were, I wouldn't be able to murder him with my own hands."
"You killed your grandfather?" Makoto said, horrified at the mere thought.
Kyoko's eyes widened as she continued to stare at Makoto. "Yes, I killed him before the world crumbled. Nothing will ever get in the way between us, Makoto. Once this game is over and done with. You and I will rule this world together."
Aoi fell to her knees in despair. "Kirigiri is the traitor." Aoi began to cry as any lingering hope vanished.
Junko began to laugh as she loved the despair reeking from Aoi. "Fucking wondering."
"Why Kirigiri?" Byakuya said. "Why would you kill your grandfather?"
Kyoko's eyes left Makoto to focus on Byakuya. "Fuhito Kirigiri, my grandfather refused to let me see my dying mother. I was only seven years old, and that has stuck with me. I had a burning hatred for the old man because he felt training me to become a detective was more critical than me seeing my mother for the last time. The more he trained me, the more hatred I grew for him. But I hid it well for him to notice nothing. As I got older, I became a better detective, and at one point, my hatred overflowed, and I killed a witness I was tracking down. Seeing blood, I caused for the first time was a thrill."
Makoto looked on in horror. He couldn't believe that Kyoko was insane. The emotionless and hard-to-read girl was a killer.
Kyoko began to laugh. "Oh, I remember that day as if it was yesterday. Because my detective skills were sharp and I'd been to many crime scenes at that point, I could remove all traces of me killing the witness and fooling my grandfather into thinking someone else killed the witness. Oh, what the irony, the detective trainee fooling the master detective. I must have been 12 years old at the time."
"That still doesn't explain why you killed your grandfather," Byakuya replied.
"Geez, Togami," Junko said, rolling her eyes. "Let the girl finish."
"As the years went on," Kyoko continued as she looked back at Makoto. "I continued to kill innocent people and get the thrill from it while I kept fooling my grandfather, and then a brilliant idea came to me. A student should surpass the master, and that's when I decided to kill my grandfather. However, the timing was poor as my grandfather sent me here to cut ties with my father. I suspect my grandfather was starting to assemble the pieces and grew weary of me."
Kyoko began to smile at Makoto. "That's when I met you, Makoto. I first, I thought you were dirt underneath my heels. But…" Kyoko began to chuckle. "But you made me feel happy and warm inside for the first time in years, and I intend not to lose those feelings."
"Then why"? Makoto said in confusion. "Why are you doing all of this?"
"You must believe me, Makoto. I had no intention of letting the world get destroyed. But my father dragged me into his mess, and I did an off-the-table investigation where I discovered a lot more than I bargained for. I found out that Enoshima pulled off another killing game with the Student Council."
Junko let out a small giggle.
"Enoshima thought she was too smart not to be caught. However, she was wrong, and we talked."
"Yeah, I remember that," Junko smiled. "I wasn't suspecting the detective to have a lust for blood and chaos."
"And I wasn't expecting a mere model to have plans to destroy the whole world, but here we are. So I gave false reports to my father and-"
"What role did your father have?" Byakuya asked, cutting Kyoko off.
"He…" Makoto said, shaking. "He was the Headmaster of this school."
"And a poor one of that," Kyoko said disgustedly. "He was a Headmaster all but in the title. He had no real power; a group secretly pulled the strings, but they were dealt with thanks to Enoshima's late sister while I keep tidying any loose ends that Enoshima may have left behind."
At this point, Aoi had her back leaning against the wooden pillars of her podium with her knees up to her chest as her arms wrapped around her legs, preying that this nightmare would end as tears ran down her face.
Kyoko left her podium and began to walk around. "If I had met you earlier, Makoto, I wouldn't have fallen so hard. But none of that matters. You will love me for the person I am."
"You can't force someone to love you, Kirigiri!" Byakuya said fiercely.
"Oh, what do you know about love, Togami?" Kyoko replied as she reached Junko's podium and stood next to her. "My heart bleeds for Makoto, he makes me happy, and I do not want to lose that. Anyway, time to tell the end of this story."
"Yup," Junko said, looking at Kyoko. "Shall I?"
Kyoko nodded.
"Lovely," Junko giggled. "So, as Kirigiri said, she ensured that loose ends were cleaned up to keep any heat off me. So I could focus on my part of the plan."
"Which was?" Byakuya asked.
"I won't get into details, but I did twist a full class's view of despair, and they were hooked on it. Anyway, as things were starting to get rough outside. The Headmaster planned to turn this place into a bunker until the chaos outside died. So our class were asked if we wanted to live in this place until the outside world was safe."
"All of us said yes?" Hiro said while barely keeping up with everything that was happening.
"Duh, of course. Why else would we stay in a locked building? So when the despair began to take over the world, we all moved in here. Everyone began to form into their groups while Naegi was spending a lot of time with our little detective."
"I was?" Makoto said, surprised. He did find Kyoko cute, so it wouldn't be far fetch for him to spend time with her.
"Yup," Junko grinned. "I was convinced that you two were having sex."
"Wait!" Makoto said, stunned. "Kirigiri…did we?"
"No," Kyoko said, shaking her head with disappointment. "But trust me, Makoto, I would tear your clothes right now if I wanted to because I want nothing more than for you to be inside me. But in time, my love, you and I will be making love."
"No," Makoto replied. But inside, he was unsure.
"What?" Kyoko said with a hint of anger in her voice.
"We are never getting together," Makoto said. "I will never go out with a killer who helped to destroy the world. I will leave here alive, find my mum, dad and Komaru and fix this mess. I will not let you two win."
Junko began to laugh while Kyoko was fuming.
"You?" Junko said while laughing as she failed to notice Kyoko taking a few steps back. "Come on, Naegi, the whole world is fucked. What is one single guy going to do."
"As long as hope remains in this world, we have a chance," Makoto replied as his eyes widened. He saw Kyoko pull a knife out of her jacket pocket.
"Hope, meh, what a disgusting word-" Junko said but stopped as she felt pain sharp pain from her kidneys. "What-" She managed to say as something was pulled out of her, and she fell to the floor.
"Sorry, Enoshima," Kyoko said, looking down at Junko. "My anger got the better of me."
"You…bitch!" Junko said in anger. "This wasn't part of the…plan." Then she died.
Kyoko held the knife up to eye view and studied the blood. "Ah, my old friend, we meet again." Kyoko cleaned the knife, put it back in her pocket, and looked at Makoto again. "Makoto dear, we will do anything you want… Please remain at my side. Final chance."
"Or what are you going to kill me?" Makoto replied.
"No," Kyoko smirked. "I have a way that will make you love me. But I'd rather not use it because I want to love the real you." She reached into her other pocket and pulled out a device with a button on it. "This here in my hand is the key to leaving this place."
Aoi, who had watched Kyoko killing Junko, gained a tiny bit of hope seeing the key to her freedom in Kyoko's hand. Without thinking, Aoi leapt to her feet and rushed towards Kyoko.
"Asahina, wait!" Byakuya shouted. "Kirigiri has a knife."
The cries were brushed aside as Aoi got closer to Kyoko, ready to fight her in a bid to get the device out of the detective's hand. However, Kyoko fell to her knees catching Aoi by surprise as Kyoko pulled her free hand back and launched it forward into Aoi's incoming stomach.
Aoi couldn't stop herself in time as she felt one of her ribs crack. Aoi shouted in pain as she tumbled backwards and landed on her knees. The swimmer began to cough tiny bits of blood as she held her rib cage.
"Stupid girl," Kyoko sneered as she got to her feet. "If you move again, I will snap your neck."
"Kirigiri, stop this!" Makoto pleaded.
"Oh, I will," Kyoko replied as she turned her attention back to Makoto. "Once I get what I want, then everything will stop."
"Me?" Makoto said. "Only me?"
"Yes," Kyoko nodded. "I will let the others leave alive, no questions asked, only if I can have you all to myself before we get to that part. I might as well finish the story as we continue living here peacefully. Enoshima grew bored and came to me with the idea of this killing game. I agreed to the idea, but I had one condition that you survived."
"Then why was she trying to kill me?" Makoto asked. "When she was wearing that mask."
"Enoshima was trying to keep me on my toes," Kyoko said, annoyed. "I told her to leave you alone, but she kept pushing my buttons. Honestly, I wish I had killed her sooner. She had played her role and provided me with a broken world to build our empire on."
"It's clear that you never had your memories wiped," Byakuya said. "So, what is your talent?"
"Ultimate Detective," Kyoko replied, bored. "It was so dull to hide behind a mask and claim I had also lost my memories. I wanted to show Makoto the real me." Then she smirked. "Now I can."
Makoto didn't like what he saw or heard.
"Now then, since we have all been caught up. It's time, Makoto," Kyoko said as she left the podium while giving Junko's lifeless body a good kick. Kyoko walked to Makoto's podium and presented the device. "What will you choose? Will you stay here with me and let our classmates go, or will you make this difficult?"
"I-" Makoto said.
"Don't you dare stay with her!" Byakuya said. "We are getting out of here together."
"Togami," Makoto said, shocked as he looked at the former for a few seconds before returning to Kyoko.
Aoi got up slowly as she looked at Junko's body. "Naegi, please pick Kirigiri," she pleaded. "I need to get out of this place to see if my brother is still alive."
"Asahina!" Byakuya said, annoyed. "This isn't the time to be selfish."
"Oh, the cheek," Kyoko said, narrowing her eyes as she looked at Byakuya. "You're the most selfish one here, Togami!" Kyoko returned her gaze to Makoto. "Enough talk. Now Makoto, choose."
Makoto looked at Kyoko long and hard. "But I make my choice. There is something I want to know. Is Hina's brother alive?"
"Yes, everyone's loved one is still alive," Kyoko lied. Makoto's parents were long dead, but Makoto didn't need to know that yet.
Makoto looked at Aoi. He smiled at her and quickly nodded before returning his focus to Kyoko. "Kirigiri, I accpect you. But on the condition that our classmates can reach their loved ones alive."
Kyoko's eyes widened with joy. "But of course!"
Makoto took the device and walked to Byakuya as the others gathered around. "Guys, get out of here."
"You don't need to do this," Byakuya replied.
"I do," Makoto sighed. "If it means saving everyone here and our loved ones. It's the only chance we have." Makoto looked at Aoi. "Hina, I hope you find your brother." He smiled.
Aoi began to cry. "Naegi…I am sorry. I promise I will find your family."
"Thank you," Makoto said warmly. Then he handed Byakuya the device. "Go."
Aoi rubbed her eyes as she walked to the lift, opened the doors, and walked inside.
Hiro was about to say something, but Byakuya pushed towards the lift.
You are one brave boy, Naegi," Genocider Sho said. "Kirigiri is a total crackpot." She looked at Byakuya. "Are you coming, Master?" She said, then she licked her lips.
Byakuya shuddered. "Take care, Naegi." He and Sho walked into the lift. "Kirigiri, you haven't told us where our loved ones are being held," Byakuya asked.
"Towa City," Kyoko replied as she walked up to Makoto. "You have my word that they will be safe since I have my Makoto with me."
Aoi took a step forward but felt a firm grip on her shoulder. She looked to see Byakuya shaking his head. "Remember your promise to Naegi. Don't be a fool."
Aoi shook her head in regret as Hiro pushed the button to send the lift up.
Makoto watched as his classmates left his view.
"Now," Kyoko said. "It's time."
"For what?" Makoto asked nervously, refusing to turn around to face Kyoko.
Kyoko let out a small laugh as she walked around to face Makoto and kissed him.
Makoto's eyes lit up, and he pulled back. "You k-kiss me!" He said in confusion, but he liked it as his heart began to beat faster at the thought of kissing this girl again.
"Well, yes, of course, we are dating now," Kyoko smiled. "Also, our first kiss has been so long overdue. Now do not pull back and use your tongue."
Kyoko leaned forward. This time she put her right hand on the back of Makoto's head to stop him from moving, and the two kissed once again. Their tongues dance with each other.
Kyoko pulled back, and she smiled warmly at Makoto. "So, how was that?"
Makoto was at a loss. His brain screamed to escape Kyoko, but his heart told him to kiss Kyoko again. Makoto leaned forward and kissed Kyoko, but he held her head as they kissed passionately this time.
"I'm so confused," Makoto said as he breathed heavily. "My brain is telling me to get away from you, but my heart-"
"Your heart remembers your feeling for me before you lost your memories," Kyoko whispered as she rubbed Makoto's face. "Don't worry, we will get your memories back, and then we can rule the world."
"I must have liked you a lot," Makoto replied, holding his chest as he felt his heartbeat.
"You did," Kyoko smiled. "But you were scared to make the first move. But none of that matters now. You're mine, and I'm yours. Call me Kyoko."
"Kyoko," Makoto replied.
"Yessss," Kyoko said as a chill went down her spine. Then she was kissed by Makoto once more. To Kyoko, this is what victory tasted like.
Bad ending
Kyoko returned her gaze to Makoto. "Enough talk. Now Makoto, choose."
Makoto looked at Kyoko but didn't want anything to do with her. He only wanted to get out of there with his classmates and find his family.
"I choose my classmates!" Makoto said as he pulled the device out of Kyoko's hand and pushed her to the ground. "QUICK, RUN TO THE LIFT!"
Everyone ran to the lift. Hiro quickly pushed the button to open the door.
Hiro and Aoi squeezed into the lift as the door slowly opened. Makoto turned around to see where Kyoko was. However, much to his horror, she was in front of him.
Kyoko knew that Sho was the most dangerous one in the group and had to die first.
"Wrong move, my dear," Kyoko said in pure anger as she pushed Makoto towards Sho. The latter caught Makoto, letting her guard down in the process, but that's all Kyoko needed as she stabbed Sho in the stomach.
Sho fell to the floor as she began to bleed out and died.
"NOOO!" Aoi screamed as she hid behind Hiro.
Kyoko grabbed Makoto's head, and with all her force, she smashed his head against the wall knocking him out cold. Kyoko watched Makoto fall to the ground. Then her head snapped to Byakuya, who rushed into the lift.
A cold yet scary smile appeared on Kyoko's face as she walked into the lift to end her classmates' lives.
Hours later
"Makoto, wake up," Kyoko whispered.
"Huh," Makoto said as he slowly opened his eyes. But as soon he saw Kyoko. He tried to move but quickly realised he couldn't. He was tied to a chair. "Kirigiri, let me go!"
"Ah, I can't do that, my dear," Kyoko smiled as she took a few steps back to show a computer screen behind her.
Makoto was confused.
"I need you to love me," Kyoko said. "Now, if I couldn't do that naturally, I will force it upon you."
"Please, I'll do anything," Makoto begged. "Just let me go."
"And what, for you to stab me in the back the first chance you get? Oh no," Kyoko giggled. "Once I'm done with you, you will forever be loyal to me and forever be my lover."
Makoto struggled in his chair, hoping something would come loose. No luck would come to him in his hour of need.
"Now let's begin," Kyoko said as she grabbed the mouse and loaded a video. "Just watch Makoto, and all your fears will melt away." She clicked the play button.
Makoto watched the video, and he began to struggle once more. But he felt Kyoko's hands on his head holding him in place and was forced to watch the video as his old life faded.
Makoto was in a daze and forgot where he was and what he was worried about. He loved Kyoko Kirigiri. Kyoko Kirigiri was his one and only. His family meant nothing to him. Only Kyoko She was his Mistress and eternal love.
The video stopped, and there was a moment of silence in the room.
"Makoto, can you hear me?" Kyoko asked.
"Yes, Mistress," Makoto answered.
"What am I to you Makoto?" Kyoko said as she moved face to face with Makoto.
"You're my everything, Mistress!" Makoto smiled. "I want to please you, make love to you. Spend every minute of my life with you, Mistress!"
"And you shall," Kyoko whispered as she kissed him gently. "We will rule this world together, won't we?"
"Anything you desire, my queen," Makoto said, bowing his head.
"One more question, what about your parents and sister?"
"I don't care about them anymore, you, Mistress, are the only thing I care about."
"Good, because they are dead, and you are all MINE!" Kyoko smiled and then began to laugh.
Thank you for reading.
It's been a while, eh? I'm not making a grand return, just this one shot since I've been in a writing mood. Apologies if this fic is a tad sloppy. Rust has kicked in obviously.
I DON'T OWN ANYTHING.
