Ch 4
Ezra was in his prison cell when the two Mandalorian supercommandos outside were shot down by Sabine.
"Thanks." Ezra said as he was pulled out by Sabine.
"No problem." Sabine replied. "Come on, we have to help the others."
Outside the Palace, the Night Owls and Kanan were losing to the supercommandos when the Ghost arrived with Ezra, Sabine, Zeb, and Hera.
The Ghost sent supercommandos flying with its laser cannons and Ezra and Sabine joined the other heroes, striking and shooting down supercommandos.
Another squad of supercommandos charged but Ezra sent them flying like leaves with a Force push.
"Glad you could make it." Kanan said.
"Looks like we were on time for this party." Ezra replied.
Suddenly, dozens of missiles from more supercommandos flew in.
The Jedi and Mandalorians scattered as explosions went off although some were still hit.
When the dust cleared, Ezra saw Rook Kast in front of him before the fight started.
Rook flew up and fired down at Ezra who deflected the blaster bolts with his saber.
Then Ezra pulled down Rook with the Force and trapped her with a net disk gun.
Now it was time for his next plan.
He had sensed that Rook wasn't fully corrupted to the dark side like the other supercommandos so maybe she could still be changed.
"You don't have to do this." Ezra said.
"It's not up to me." Rook replied.
"Maul doesn't care if your side wins or loses. He just wants to rule over all of you. But you can help change things."
"I-I can't do it. I'm not brave like you."
"You don't have to be. You just have to believe in yourself."
Then Ezra cut the net with his saber and they flew back into the battle together.
At one point, a supercommando was about to shoot Ezra but Rook shot him down just as Ezra Force pushed a supercommando sneaking up on Rook.
The two warriors fought side by side in the middle of the battle, striking and shooting down supercommandos.
Even some of the supercommandos helped the two heroes by firing on Maul's followers.
The squad reached the Palace and fought their way into the throne room but Maul came down from his throne room and knocked down everyone with a Force shockwave.
"You cannot defeat me." the Zabrak said. "The Mandalorian Empire will take this planet, then the galaxy after we deal with you and the Galactic Empire."
"Yeah, good luck with that." Ezra said. "Some of your friends are on our side so I'd say you're short of manpower."
"And true Mandalorians never give up." Rook added. "Which is why you're going to lose."
"We'll see." Maul said, then he ignited his double-bladed red lightsaber and charged.
Ezra blocked all his strikes and slashed back as Rook flew around and peppered Mail with his blaster shots.
Maul then launched his saber at Ezra with the Force but he jumped over the saber and ducked as the saber barely missed his head while it returned to Maul's hand and the fight continued.
Rook wrapped up Maul with a cable gun but the Zabrak cut it off by turning on his saber with the Force and he Force pushed Rook away.
Ezra charged and got into a bladelock with Maul but got kicked away by the Zabrak's robot legs.
Then Maul leapt into the air and was about to stab Ezra in the chest when Rook tackled him out of the way and took the blade.
Ezra was shocked as Maul wrenched his saber free.
Rook fell and Ezra held her in her arms.
"I tried." she said weakly.
"I know." Ezra said.
Then Room let out her last breath and her eyes closed.
Ezra was so surprised that he barely had time to block Maul's next strike.
Green and red bars of fire clashed against each other again and again as the two struck, spun, and parried.
Soon Ezra and Maul got into a bladelock and sparks flew as the sabers sizzled against each other.
Then Ezra let out giant Force blast that sent Maul flying through the circular window.
Ezra looked over the edge but didn't see the Zabrak as his friends won the siege.
Then he looked at Rook.
He didn't expect the bolt of grief to hit him that hard after her death but it did.
She went from being an enemy to a lover in less than a day.
She helped end the Mandalorian Civil War.
She had also just saved him from Maul.
"A lot has happened today." Ezra said
