Again, I don't own Hiro or anything of his world. I'm doing this because I'm a fan of her comic.

In the small Fire Nation fishing village of Donsuta, a seven-year-old boy with bright orange eyes and long unkempt brown hair was helping his best friend, an Earth Kingdom boy named Tao, celebrate his culture's most holy day. Each of the four nations had a sacred day unique to their season. The Spring and Fall Equinox belong to the Earth Kingdom and Air Nomads, while the Summer and Winter Solstice belong to the Fire Nation and Water Tribes.

As long as Hiro had known his best friend, he felt slightly out of place. Again, he was of Earth Kingdom descent, living in the Fire Nation. He didn't have anyone outside his parents to help him celebrate his holidays. So Hiro had promised to participate in his best friend's holiday as that's why friends do for each other. The first tradition is the entire house must go through a thorough cleaning. So both boys were currently in the family room scrubbing the floors.

"Oh, I'm too young for my back to hurt this much!" Hiro couldn't help but whine a little.

"I'm not a fan of this part of the holiday either, Hiro. But it must be done. After all, my Mom is busy setting up the altar to praise Oma and Shu," referring to the patron spirits of the Earth Kingdom.

Another tradition that came with the Spring Equinox was setting up an altar with fresh fruit, flowers, and herbs. This was to celebrate the growing season and thank Oma and Shu for helping others become Earthbenders. There was also an outdoor feast to be held under the starry skies. Again, fresh fruits and vegetables were the main courses as they came from the earth. After the meal, everyone would sit around a bonfire before singing stories of their ancestors and the myths of the Earth Kingdom.

Hiro did enjoy the last part very much. Yet he wasn't a fan again of the whole cleaning thing. Nevertheless, he and his best buddy continued to clean his friend's house from top to bottom. Afterward, they took a quick bath before Hiro's family came over. Since Tao was his best friend, his family always joined Tao's family for their feast. Both their mothers loved making traditional dishes.

Meanwhile, their fathers tried to drink themselves stupid as they laughed over bad jokes before their wives forced them to work. Eventually, the traditional feast was done. It consisted of a salad mixed with cucumbers, carrots, and eggplant. There was also avocado soup and grilled fish, plus various fruit juices. All in all, it was a pleasant little feast.

Again, a plate of food was placed on the altar as an offering to Oma and Shu. The Fire Nation family joined their friends in reciting Earth Kingdom prayers before they helped start the bonfire for storytime. All in all, Hiro loved celebrating with his best friend.
