Chapter 5:
The Flood's Real
"It's all gonna flood. Come on, we gotta warn the others about this," Twilight said as she heads off.
"Hmmm, is there by any chance we can rapidly evolve into Sea Ponies or something?" Pinkie asked, suggesting.
"Yeah, that's very genius, Pinkie," Rainbow Dash sarcastically said as she starts following Twilight. She wondered why Pinkie couldn't be serious.
"Call me, Inkie," Pinkie said.
Pinkie follows Twilight and Rainbow Dash across an ice bridge above the Eviscerator as she broke off an ice spike and said, "Yeesh, this whole thing's a piece of junk. I can't believe this has been around for thousands of years,".
Pinkie then stomped on the ice, causing the icicles underneath them to shake. Suddenly a small rumble was heard as Twilight and Rainbow Dash stopped and turned to Pinkie.
"What?" Pinkie asked, shrugging her shoulders. That wasn't her.
A slight rumble was heard as a crack came and the ice broke apart under them as Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie plummeted the Eviscerator. The Mane 3 fell down near the waterfall screaming with Twilight in the front brushing the water, Rainbow Dash holding onto Twilight's shoulders, and Pinkie Pie holding onto Rainbow's wings. It was similar to the first story where they were piled together.
Meanwhile, Flim and Flam tossed away the reeds as Flim said, "Okay, so forget reeds. We present to you a revolutionary gizmo we call…,".
"...Wood!" Flam finished, bringing out a piece of bark as the others begin to walk away.
"It's so buoyant, it can actually float," Flim said, but was anybody listening…Nope!
"Applebloom and Ah will show you two something that floats," Applejack said joking as she and Applebloom started laughing.
"Looks like nobody will ever buy anything from us, brother," Flim said as a Griffon walked by.
"I'm afraid you're right, I blame that Alicorn for this," Flam whined as the said alicorn and her two friends appeared falling down the waterfall behind them.
As the Mane 3 neared the bottom, the curved slope tossed them into the air as Twilight skids across the water on her back with Rainbow Dash clinging to her horn and Pinkie Pie holding onto her tail skidding across the water like a water skier. They quickly got near the shore as the crowd turned to them as well as the Flim and Flam Brothers, who then quickly cowered to the ground as the Mane 3 came to a halt at the shore with Twilight laying on her back.
Flim peaks his eye out turning to Twilight as he and Flam jump up and land on their feet.
"Do you all see? This is exactly what my dear brother and I have been talking about," Flam said, pointing to the Mane 3.
"That's right folks, you may have seen giant balls of burning lava. But never giant magic balls of flaming magic the size of Alicorns raining from the sky," Flim said as Twilight rolled onto her sides to get up.
"Ah, go suck air through a reed, you two," a gray Dragon said as the crowd laughed.
"Everyone, you have to listen to them. They were right about the flood!" Twilight said urgently, as she got up on her hooves.
"Wait, we are?" Flim asked, thinking that Twilight might be joking.
"What my brother means is…Yes, we are," Flam said, covering for his brother again. Though they were honestly bluffing about the flood. But the crowd remained skeptical.
"Hold on, wait a minute. You're the one who said that there wasn't even gonna be a flood in Equestria. Why should we listen to you? Is it because you are an Alicorn?" a Reindeer asked, thinking they shouldn't listen to somepony who's the last of their kind.
"It is because my friends and I saw what's up there. When the glacier wall breaks, all of Equestria is gonna be ten miles deep in water!" Twilight explained, hoping they would listen.
But the crowd laughed, thinking that she might be joking. But then suddenly they stopped laughing when they hear a deep Western voice say, "The flood's real alright,". They all turned their attention to see a Griffon with the head of a Vulture perched on a tree branch.
"And it's coming fast. Look around, ya'll are in a bowl," the Vulture Griffon stated, looking at them with a smirk.
An Indigo Pegasus and Pinkish-red Unicorn looked around seeing the distant mountains and glaciers surrounding them. He was right, there were walls of ice all around them, and they are totally boxed in. Or rather bowled in. "This bowl's gonna fill all the way up and there ain't no way out," the Vulture Griffon continued.
The other equestrian creatures started panicking, realizing they were in very great danger as a female Reindeer said, "What are we gonna do?".
"Unless…ya'll can make it to the end of Equestria. There's a boat made from the wood of a giant tree, big enough to save ya," the Vulture Griffon assured, saying that their only hope for survival was on the other side of the land.
Some of the others turn to each other chattering, some seemed hopeful while others were more skeptical, including Rarity who said, "I don't see anything,".
"But…y'all better hurry…," the Griffon warned, as they turned to him again, as he sneered, "The ground's meltin', walls be tumblin', and rocks crumblin'. Survive all that and ya folks will be racing the water. Because at three days' time, it's gonna hit the geyser fields where that there boat is, 'cause if the floods don't get ch'ya, the geysers will…," He continued, warning them of what they encounter on their way to the boat before he unfurled his wings and yelled smirking, "KABOOM!".
The crowd jumped from that as an Earth Pony fainted and fell back.
"There is some good news though," The Vulture Griffon said as the crowd relaxed a bit.
"Even if you survived the flood, all of Equestria will be lost, and the Vulture Griffons will be free to pick at your starving carcasses!" The Vulture Griffon answered with a terrifying grin as he licked his beak.
The crowd gasped as the Earth Pony fainted again.
"I didn't say it was good news for you," The Vulture Griffon said, "Well good luck on yer journey folks…y'all gonna need it," He chuckled darkly before he got off the branch and flew off.
"Oooh, he must have been a real pleasure to have in class," Pinkie commented leaning next to Twilight.
Suddenly an icy rumble was heard as everybody turned to the glacier wall to see two sections of the glacier break off and fall down as they soon hit a ledge.
The crowd screamed as they scattered in different directions and a Unicorn foal is too busy building a small dam of sticks to notice. The chunks of ice fell as they were near an ice slide with a Pegasi on it as he was forced to jump down and slide off. The ice chunks hit the ice slide as a Griffon dove out of the way and the slide continues falling towards the Unicorn foal.
But her father quickly rushed in and grabbed his daughter as the ice hits the ground right over the small dam.
The Unicorn father placed his daughter down as they turned to the glacier wall, seeing a missing section as that was just the start of the glacier starting to break apart.
"Oh, dear," The Unicorn father said. The dam may have had only one small crack in it now but that crack would get bigger and bigger until the wall burst, and the flood is unleashed.
"Alright, everyone. You heard Mr. Vulture-Head, gather all your belongings, and let's move out, We have to get to the geyser fields and to that boat!" Twilight instructed, as everyone quickly prepared to leave.
It would take a few hours of collecting everything they needed and wanted to bring before the crowd could begin to head out to the other side of Equestria.
"Twilight, do you think that Buzzard face was telling the truth? Is there really a boat at the end of Equestria, at a geyser field of all places?" Rainbow Dash asked, being unsure of it.
Twilight shook her head, she knew trusting that Griffon might be a mistake but what he said could be their only hope, "I don't know, Rainbow. But I do know that if we don't get moving, in 3 days Equestria is gonna be a mile underwater. So if there's any hope for us, it's that way," She said as Pinkie and Rainbow Dash started following the crowd to prepare themselves for the evacuation.
Twilight was beginning to head out to collect her own things when she heard another icy rumble and the Alicorn turned to see a large chunk of ice floating aimlessly in the water as it slowly started to turn slowly around.
Twilight watches it until she notices something in blue color on the chunk. Or was it something inside it?
As Twilight was about to use her magic to turn it around, Rainbow Dash appeared on a ledge and said, "Twilight let's go!".
"Coming!" Twilight replied back as she turned to Rainbow Dash and then looked at the ice chunk as Rainbow Dash walks off.
After looking at the ice chunk once more, Twilight shrugged it off and she turns to leave and started flying in Rainbow's direction.
However, as Twilight leaves, the ice block continues turning and it soon reveals that there is something in the ice…something living. The ice block revealed a creature frozen within the ice. Or rather THREE creatures.
In the ice, are a trio of some sort of sea creatures that looked like a mixture of Ponies with fish-like tails and webbing on their back, cheeks, and their arms.
One had light brilliant gold scales with a moderate gold underbelly and moderate amber fins along with dark gold hooves.
The second one has light violet scales with a light purple underbelly and moderate mulberry fins and dark violet hooves.
And the third and final one is revealed to have light cerulean scales with brilliant cerulean underbelly and moderate cornflower blue fins and its hooves are dark cornflower blue.
It looked like they were frozen in action, but they are actually hibernating. They once ruled Equestria when it was once completely covered in water. But when times changed they lost their watery world and back frozen in time.
The ice chunk was now their prison. Forever trapped inside where no one could harm them. But it didn't matter since something that has been frozen for that long couldn't possibly be still alive…
Then the Yellow Fish-Pony Hybrid, which was supposedly nothing but a frozen carcass, moved its eye as the ice began to crack.
Or perhaps it can…
Author's Note:
After realizing that the Flim and Flam Brothers were right, The Mane 3 headed back down to warn the others about the upcoming flood, along with the Mane 3 sliding down the Eviscerator as a shortcut. When they made it down, Twilight tried to warn them about the flood but the crowd just laugh, thinking Twilight was joking. Luckily a spooky Vulture Griffon backed Twilight up and told them that the flood's real and is coming fast for them.
He even told them that they are in a bowl with no ways to escape the dangerous flood which got everyone worried, scared, and nervous. But the Vulture Griffon did however told them there is only one way out for them to escape the flood and that's a giant boat made from a giant tree that's on the other end of Equestria. Afterwards, the glacier began to break apart but slowly with two sections of it breaking off. Twilight ordered everyone, including her friends to gather their things for the evacuation to the boat.
But when Twilight was about to head out, she saw a floating piece of ice in the water and became very suspicious about what is inside of it before Rainbow Dash called out to her and Twilight left.
Little did the Alicorn know was her suspicion was right all along for inside the ice floe are a trio of creatures that were trapped in the ice for a long time, but with the warm temperature, they are about to break free...
