Chapter 20:

Minefield!

A few minutes later, the Unusual Mane 6 was heading up a hill as Pinkie Pie started singing, "Food Glorious Food…,".

"Pinkie!" Twilight and Rainbow said in unison feeling annoyed by the song. How could Pinkie want to sing it after what they have just been through? It didn't make sense to them.

"Aw, come on, girls. It's catchy," Pinkie Pie said, turning to them. It was catchy and had a fun rhythm to it.

As they soon reached the hilltop, they saw something ahead that made them widen their eyes in amazement. Because ahead of them is a high rock ridge with a large remnant of a gigantic hollow tree and the other ponies and equestrian creatures were heading up as they entered it.

"We…we made it," Rainbow Dash said in amazement.

"Yeah, we showed those scary Vulture Griffons," Pinkie Pie said.

"Whoo-hoo!" Flash, Starlight, and Trixie cheered in unison.

Starlight and Trixie high-hoofed each other as Pinkie and Rainbow Dash headed off.

Twilight and Flash laughed as they neared each other but then they backed away. All of a sudden, their celebration was ruined when a distant icy rumble was heard. They knew that was the glacier. As Flash was about to head out, an explosion ripped through the ground as Flash yelped and backs up.

Nearby, a geyser has gone off as another geyser erupts from the ground.

Trixie and Starlight screamed as they rushed over to Flash and they watched more geysers erupt from the ground as rocks were tossed into the air, blocking their path to the boat.

"Come on, it's just a little hot water and steam. How bad can it be?" Pinkie asked with no concern. They just had to get through the field and they would be safe.

The Unusual Mane 6 watched a Crocutagriff crossing the field until suddenly a geyser jets out violently off the ground and shot the Crocutagriff out into the air. The Crocutagriff then came down as a roasted chicken. Meaning it was more dangerous than they thought.

"I think I just did something involuntary and messy," Pinkie said in horror. For the first time in the journey, she was completely terrified.

"Ok, come on," Twilight said as she heads off.

But as she walks a couple of steps, a geyser went off in front of her as Twilight yelped.

"Twilight! Get back! It's a Minefield out there!" Rainbow Dash said.

"There's only one way for us to go! Straight through!" Twilight said as more geysers burst out of the ground. She had come too far to give up now.

"Straight through? Twilight didn't you see what happened to that Griffon? We like to keep the fur and feathers on our bodies, thank you. I suggest we should head back and go around it's safer for us," Flash said, thinking it's too suicide to run through as he turned to head back.

"What? No, no, Flash there's no time. The glacier dam will burst by the time we get there and we'll drown," Twilight said as she teleported in front of Flash.

"But if we go through this geyser field, we'll be blown to bits," Flash said, reminding her what the geysers will do to them if they go through the field.

"I say we go forward," Twilight argued.

"And I say we go back," Flash said, starting to get angry.

"Forward!" Twilight yelled as Starlight and Trixie looked back and forth between the two.

"Back!" Flash yelled back.

"Forward!" Twilight yelled in anger.

"Back!" Flash yelled back in the same tone.

"Can I say something?" Rainbow Dash asked, speaking up while trying to break up the fight.

Twilight and Flash turned to Rainbow Dash and snapped at her in unison, "NO!".

Rainbow Dash narrowed her eyes.

"You're just so stubborn and hard-headed, Flash!" Twilight said in anger.

"Oh, so I'm stubborn and hard-headed? Well, then I guess that proves it…I am an Alicorn," Flash said as he walked around Twilight angrily.

Twilight was shocked.

"Come on, you two," Flash said as he grabs Trixie and Starlight and places them on his back as they looked nervous and they head off to go around the geysers.

"Fine! Then enjoy the flood, Flash! Come on, girls!" Twilight said as she also walked off in a different direction and started flying across the geyser field angrily while ignoring the geysers.

"I don't know what's much worse either drowning or being blown to bits. But they both sure do sound so sudden," Pinkie said as Rainbow looked back at the leaving trio with concern.

"Well, either way. Come on, Pinkie. We gotta stay with Twilight," Rainbow Dash said as she starts following Twilight into the geyser field.

Pinkie gulped and started following behind the two as a small geyser went off near her and made her jump. But Pinkie then glares at the small geyser as she continues walking off.

Meanwhile, Twilight flew across the geyser field as geysers continue going off around her and Twilight was still angry as a geyser went off next to her. But Twilight didn't even flinch as she continues on, and another geyser went off behind her.

"Oh, Twilight's gonna get herself flash-fried. Twilight wait!" Pinkie yelled as she caught up with Rainbow Dash.

"Twilight!" Rainbow Dash shouted a little louder.

But Twilight didn't hear them as she continues on, and more geysers keep going off around her. Straight ahead of her, a crack in the ground spews some steam as Twilight heads towards it, being unaware she was heading where a geyser would explode. Then the geyser went off in front of her. It blasted in her face and she fell backward, landing on her side.

A few moments later, Twilight was on the ground and soon woke up to watch a geyser go off as the explosion was muffled. Twilight then turned to see another geyser going off next to her as multiple voices were heard in her head while her pupils shrunk…

"Kids, look. The Last Alicorn," Cheerilee said.

"I just heard you're going extinct," Pinkie said.

"That Alicorn Bravery Was Amazing, Twilight," Flash said.

"You can't be two things," Twilight said herself.

Twilight's brain was on overdrive, thinking about what she's been told about her, Flash, and their kind in the last two days before.

"Twilight doesn't want to talk to you because you offended her," Trixie said.

"But where's your big happy family, Twilight?" Applebloom asked.

"What if I am the Last Alicorn?" Twilight asked herself.

Twilight then sees Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie appearing in front of her. Rainbow Dash was shouting something at her while Pinkie jumped at another eruption and pulled her mane, crying in distress. But Twilight couldn't hear her.

"What's wrong with you?!" Flash asked as his voice echoed and Twilight finally got her hearing back.

"Twilight! Come on! We gotta go! Now!" Rainbow Dash yelled as Twilight's senses returned to her.

Twilight turns to see five more geysers going off one after the other. Twilight realizing where they were, yelped and quickly got to her feet and ran as Pinkie took off and Rainbow Dash shoved Twilight as she said, "This way, Twilight!".

Another geyser went off.

The Mane 3 ran like the wind as the geysers continued going off and rocks were being tossed into the air. Pinkie nearly avoided a geyser going off in front of her and screamed as she ran. They continued running as the geysers kept erupting as rocks keep hitting the ground and the ground cracked. Rainbow Dash lunged forward, and a geyser went off.

Meanwhile, at the other end of Equestria, the glacier dam now has three waterfalls as two ice towers of ice soon break apart and collapse. Now there is only a thin layer of the glacier between Equestria and the flood.

Time was running out and it could burst at any time now.

Author's Note: After all they have went through, they have finally made it to their destination...the Boat.

Woo-hoo!

But it appears their journey isn't completed just yet, for they have one more obstacle to get through and that my friends is...the Geyser Field.

Pinkie thought the geyser field is just a bunch of hot water and steam, but after seeing what happened to the Crocutagriff, she had second thoughts and became terrified.

But Twilight was determined to get to the boat and knows the only way for them to get to the boat is to go through the geyser field. However, Flash disagreed with her and suggested that they head back and go around instead. This has led to Twilight and Flash having a small argument before they have went their separate ways. Flash and his sisters will go around while Twilight and her friends will go through the geysers.

However, when Twilight was flying through the geysers, she was suddenly blasted by one big geyser. It didn't hurt her, but it did however messed with her mind and set her brain into an overdrive. Luckily for her, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie managed to bring Twilight's senses back and the Mane 3 set out running through the geyser like mad to get to the boat in time before the glacier bursts...

And speaking of which, the glacier is now a thin layer of blue ice, which means there isn't much before the flood is unleashed upon Equestria.
