Chapter 23:
Twilight Fights The Sirens
Meanwhile, Twilight was still pushing the log, which is now submerged underwater, trying to free Flash, but the boulder didn't budge. Then Twilight saw that the log was submerged underwater, and the water was getting much higher. Soon, Twilight got an idea as she took a deep breath and dove into the water.
In the cave, Flash is nearly up to his neck in water and was close to the cave roof. He was fighting to keep a gap open as he then punches some rocks out of the way through as he held his hoof out of the hole.
Underwater, Twilight was still pushing the log as hard as she could, but the rock still wouldn't budge. Soon, Twilight then heads back up to the surface.
As Twilight surfaced for air, Pinkie, Rainbow Dash, Starlight, and Trixie appeared on a rocky ledge as Pinkie said pointing, "There she is!".
"Flash! Hold on to my hoof!" Twilight said as she swam to where Flash's hoof was sticking out of the gap and grabbed a hold of it.
Inside the cave, Flash kept panting as the water kept rising up to his chin as he held on to Twilight.
Twilight tried to think of something while holding onto the stallion. But then all of a sudden, Twilight felt something bite her tail as she was swiftly pulled down back underwater. Flash felt the sudden slip of Twilight's hoof being pulled away as the water kept rising up to his mouth. Flash started to panic and breathes heavily with the little air left.
Underwater, Twilight looked back and was shocked. It was one of the Sirens! Where had it come from?
"Told ya you hadn't seen the last of us," Adagio said as she drags Twilight further down into the depths by her tail.
Twilight looked up and saw the water has risen above the gap as Flash, who is now underwater, pulled his hoof back into the gap.
Twilight can now only hope that Flash was able to take a deep enough breath and that she can make it to him in time.
Deep below in the depths, Adagio drags Twilight down to the bottom and lets go of Twilight as she swam off and Aria swims by as Twilight saw her.
Sonata then swam by as if they were circling her, "You're on OUR turf now!" She said before Twilight saw Aria swimming right at her at a very fast speed and then rams her aside hard. Twilight soon recovered but then saw Sonata speeding right at her as she body slams the Alicorn mare and Twilight sank a bit as Adagio circles around the Alicorn ready to strike. It didn't look too good.
But then Twilight shook her head and soon regained her senses as she saw Adagio coming back.
Adagio then lunges but Twilight quickly kicks her with her back leg, knocking her back, "OW!" Adagio cried in pain.
Then Twilight quickly swam back to the surface. Twilight reached the surface and gasped for air.
Pinkie, Rainbow Dash, Trixie, and Starlight saw and were relieved to see her relatively safe, but they then had worried looks on their faces as they saw that she was in trouble.
"Twilight! Twilight, they're right behind you!" Pinkie said seeing the Sirens' back fins skim across the surface and dove back underwater swimming straight at Twilight.
"Let's get her, girls!" Adagio ordered before they went underwater.
Twilight looked over and narrowed her eyes before she then took a deep breath and she immediately dove back underwater again.
Twilight dove to the depth and soon saw the Sirens coming right at her as she then looked at the log and got an idea. Twilight quickly swam over to the log lodged into the boulder. The Sirens begin to close in on Twilight as she quickly reaches the log and looked back as she glares at them, planning to use herself as bait.
"Now we gotcha!" Aria smirked.
The Sirens then roared as they charged towards Twilight with open jaws. But Twilight waited till they were within point-blank range and then she quickly moves out of the way at the last second, out of the Sirens' opened jaws as the Sirens clamp their jaws on the log at lightning speed, missing her.
The speed and force of the Sirens biting on the log was enough to pry the boulder loose as Twilight got out of the way and the Sirens wrestled the log until the boulders slam on top of the Sirens as they sink down into the depths below along with a few other boulders.
Twilight watches the sinking boulders for a few moments and then turns her attention to the cave before her air suddenly ran out, and her eyes start to close. But just before they closed completely, she saw a yellow shape appear out of the cave and swam toward her.

After Rainbow Dash has rescued Pinkie, Starlight, and Trixie, Twilight was still trying to get Flash out of the cave before he drowns, which won't be long now because the water is rising higher and faster. In the cave, Flash is now up to his neck in water as he managed to punch a gap through the rock and stick his hoof out. Twilight saw it and managed to grab a hold of it while Flash pants as the water is up to his chin now.
But all of a sudden, Twilight finds herself being pulled back underwater, leaving Flash as he is now up to his mouth in water.
Underwater, it appears to Adagio who has dragged Twilight down into the depths. While being dragged down, Twilight looked up and saw Flash is now underwater as he pulled his hoof back into the cave. Let's just hope Flash could hold his breath long enough, so Twilight could rescue him.
In the depths, things weren't looking good for Twilight. Not only was she outnumbered by the Sirens, but since these creatures were built for water, the Sirens have the advantage to hit Twilight with their bodies and swimming speed. But Twilight does have only one advantage over the Sirens. When Adagio was about to finish her off, Twilight kicked her away, buying herself some time to head to the surface to breathe.
When she got there, Pinkie warned her that the Sirens were right behind her as they dove underwater. Twilight took a deep breath and dove back underwater to see the Sirens swimming towards her.
Knowing she has to stop them, Twilight headed to the log and the boulder and waited until the Sirens charged right at her with their mouths opened, ready to finish her once and for all. But being a smart Alicorn, Twilight managed to quickly dodge their jaws and the Sirens bite down on the log. And that caused the boulder to come loose and fall on top of them as they and the boulder sink to the bottom.
Twilight knew the Sirens were much stronger and faster so she used them to her advantage to help her break the boulder loose.
However, after all that, Twilight was about to pass out, but before she did, she saw a strange shape appearing out of the cave and swam towards her.
Well, the Sirens are defeated and that's good. But the danger is not done yet in the next chapter...
