A/N: Spoilers! I couldn't accept some of the deaths in the game, so I changed things. And I really wanted Anne in this story in Hogwarts, so she's healed. And I wish there had been an alternative for the Shadows quest line, so now we have this. Also, I have writers block for my other stories, but I'm trying to make some progress with them. Thank you to everyone who's been giving me their support and encouragement.

Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter nor Legacy- even if I do play and read them. And I wasn't positive what to actually put here.

Summary:

Aquila Noir has finished a very eventful first year at Hogwarts as a fifth year. He stopped his friend from committing murder and repaired the rift in his family by helping cure his twin sister. Helped another find Snidgets, which were thought to be extinct after putting an end to a dragon fighting ring. And put an end to a couple of unpleasant criminals with another, while helping her to face her past. Not to forget that he and his mentor- Eleazar Fig- were involved with secrets hundreds of years old, which resulted in defending Hogwarts alongside his professors from an army of goblins led by Ranrok.

Surely with such an eventful first year in the world of magic, his second- and sixth year at Hogwarts- surely won't be... Aquila might be wrong as a new danger arises to face he and his friends.

A dark wizard who has been presumed dead for a century. Awoken from the cursed sleep his own family had put him in for the sake of the wizarding world. He has plans for the world and they are not good. But a few things stand in the way of these great endeavors:

A prophecy.

Artifacts.

Any who share his blood.

He's Articus Noir, and he's only got one relative left.

Can Aquila and those around him survive another terror so soon after the last? Or will they all fall?

Hogwarts Legacy: Year Six

Chapter 0: The Summer Before

A small, petite boy was asleep at a desk in a small cottage on the outskirts of a small village. He was barely 4'11 and his skin was a honey tan. His long hair was about mid-back, and was normally a pure, midnight blue. Now though, it held strands of stark white. His eyes, when open, were a gorgeous amethyst.

Not many would think that this small boy had, only a few months prior, fought the most recent threat to all magical people, a goblin by the name Ranrok. None of the people who saw the boy would think he capable of a rare talent and gift- seeing and harnessing ancient magic. No one, if they did not know him, would even believe the boy to be barely 16, and about to start his 6th year at Hogwarts in just a couple days' time.

Strewn around him on the desk were letters from the friends he had made during his first year in the magical world. As a fifth year at Hogwarts. Among the senders was a witch from Hufflepuff named Poppy Sweeting. Aquila and Poppy had become friends due to their mutual love of magical creatures. Together the two of them had not only thwarted poachers by disbanding an illegal dragon fighting ring, but they had also rediscovered Snidgets thanks to the clues from Poppy's grams notes and the help of a centaur named Dorran.

Another set of letters came from his Gryffindor friend Natsai Onai, who hailed from Matabeleland, where she had attended Uagadou. Together, they had put an end to Theophilus Harlow, who was behind a great deal of misery for those around Hogsmeade and the Hogwarts area in general. Natty, as she was affectionately called by both Aquila and Natty's mother, had even saved him from a Crucio at the man's wand.

Amit Thakkar, Aquila's closest Ravenclaw friend- and the only one in his year. They had bonded over Astronomy and had even infiltrated a goblin mine which allowed him to learn more about Ranrok's plans for magicals. They also discovered astronomy tables throughout the Hogwarts area to study the stars even more.

Then there were Aquila's fellow Slytherins: Sebastian Sallow- and by extension his twin sister, Anne- and Ominis Gaunt. All fellow fifth- now sixth- years just like his other friends. Their adventures together had been a bit more... Intense. It involved a lot of dark magic and family secrets and arguments. It almost reached familicide. Sebastian had almost cast the killing curse on his uncle in a fit of dark magic induced anger and irrationality. In the last letter he had received from the Sallow sister, Sebastian and Solomon were finally reaching a more stable ground with each other. After Solomon properly explained about dark magic, it's effect on one's mind, personality, soul, and emotions. Sebastian had already been horrified by what he had almost done, but a proper conversation with his uncle really hit it home for him what Ominis had meant when he said, 'Dark magic seems harmless enough, until it's too late'.

In addition, Sebastian had helped Aquila find triptychs left by Isidora Morganoch. Even if they had had an argument about goblins that almost broke their own friendship. But they had eventually pulled through and things were much more peaceful. As for Ominis, he had actually had a peaceful summer. Apparently, his family were too busy to pay him any attention and he had escaped to his late aunt's cottage that she had left to him in her will. All the Slytherins were happy to hear that their friend would be able to escape the more twisted of his family's hands.

Then there were his letters from non-student friends. There were a couple letters from Sirona, the proprietor of the Three Broomsticks. There was their mutual friend Lodgok, a goblin who had almost died at his own brother's hands and helped give him the clues to the final repository that Ranrok was after. The other group of letters were from his mentor, Eleazar Fig. Prof. Fig was the magical theory teacher at Hogwarts, and he had been the one to train Aquila in the basics after finding out he was magical. He was also the one to help Aquila handle the trials and was the other involved in the Secret of the Keepers. During that final battle under Hogwarts to protect the final repository from Ranrok, Prof. Fig had almost died. He had many severe wounds, but he had, eventually, around the last two weeks before Hogwarts healed up. Mostly. He wouldn't be going off and fighting the scattered loyalists and poachers that were around, but he would be able to teach when the new school year started. Lodgok and Fig had even met up to discuss Miriam, Fig's late wife who had also been friends with Lodgok. Both their letters and Sirona's mentioned their nights drinking in the Three Broomsticks and reading them had made Aquila's day. He couldn't wait to go back to Hogwarts.

But that was still a couple days away. For now, the poor boy was in the throes of a strange and dark dream, that started in flashes:

'A dark rock walls. A beaten and worn path. He noted that he was following it throughout the flashes. He noted a set of old ruins. Then he saw the path drop steeply between two tall, cliff like walls. The path was narrow. Almost impossibly so. Torches on either side of a stone door lit up with eerie, dark purple flames. The door was old and carved into the stone surface. Runes in a circular spiral lit up before the stone fell away.

A dark corridor with torches periodically spaced between each other. Lips in the stone that held plants and herbs. Another door, this one opening to a large cavern. And along the wall were murals of a morbid history.

The first depicted a tall and powerful looking man that held some sort of artifact that Aquila couldn't make out aloft. He stood atop a hill that overlooked a hamlet that Aquila didn't recognize. The hamlet was prospering and beautiful. There were even some ruins among the picturesque hamlet.

The next showed the artifact glowing and the hamlet was a flame with the same purple flames at the entrance of the crypt. People were running and screaming. Some became... abominations, part human and part shadowy monster.

The next showed a trail of ruined hamlets that had been burned to the ground with the unnatural embers littering the remains. The man himself had morphed into a grotesque shadow of what he had once been with fellow abominations around him.

The next was the man being surrounded by a group of people. All possessing powerful auras, if the mural was to be trusted. And behind them all was another tall person, one who was androgynous so Aquila couldn't tell if they were a witch or wizard. In their arms was another glowing artifact. This one burned with a gorgeous silver and turquoise light that seemed to be reversing the effects of the other artifact.

The final mural showed a sarcophagus that was held shut by chains of silver with several locks. This was in a large room with a ritual table that was depicted to have the person with the silver and turquoise artifact laid out in sacrifice atop it in a white robe stained by blood, surrounded by vases that held different herbs and plants.

The dream shifted as purple flames flared to life in the cavern, revealing the same depicted table with a skeleton in blood stained white. And the sound of chains rattling drew Aquila's attention to that same sarcophagus from the mural. The chains glowed as they rattled, and the fires began to splutter, though not go out. Aquila watched in horror as the glow on the chains suddenly became almost blinding before they died. Silence filled the area for a few moments, and he wondered if it was over. Then there was a click. Followed by another. Then another. And so on until all the locks on the chains came undone and the chains slithered to the ground. He was frozen as the lid creaked open a crack. Silence once more... Then an explosion of dark magic that sent the lid flying off and Aquila flying back and crashing into the wall. Magic and dust filled the area. And all the 16-year-old saw were eyes glowing indigo before the world around him went black.'

Aquila shot up and fell back with his chair. He gasped for air and in pain as he and the chair crashed to the floor, the chair breaking under his sudden weight. He felt ill and sick. Tainted as if he had really been in the presence of such dark- no, black- magic. It made his skin crawl. He sat up and took several deep breaths. Ignoring the bruising he could feel forming along his back from the rough landing. After several long minutes he finally pushed himself up, just as he heard the distant chime of 6 AM from the bell in the center of the village. He groaned, glancing at the calendar. It was the 31st. Which meant he would be headed for London that day. He already had a room at the Leaky Cauldron. It meant he could do the last of his shopping for school and get to King's Cross for the express. But the trip was a bit long, which meant he would be leaving around noon. Nodding his head Aquila got up and got ready for the day. The dream already a foggy memory in the back of his mind.

:Knockturn Alley:

Aquila sighed as he made his way through the shelves of a non-descriptive curio shop towards the center of the shady alley. His hood up to cover his features. While most of what was in the alley wasn't truly illegal, those who went in were still technically considered suspicious and got those judging eyes that honestly annoyed him. He didn't plan on going to Borgin & Burkes if he could help it.

He had everything for his upcoming school year. He had been surprised when he got his O.W.L results. Potions, Defense, Charms, Herbology, and Transfiguration had all been Os. Meanwhile Care, Divination, and Astronomy had been EEs. Merlin, he had even gotten an A in History. He had passed all of his classes! He was in every one of his N.E.W.T classes, and it was a bit of shock, to be honest. Not only had it been his first year actually studying magic- and at the Fifth-year level at that- but he had also been so busy with stopping poachers, fighting dark wizards, saving magical creatures, and so on. Plus, he had been exploring and fighting Ranrok and his Loyalists. He wasn't sure how he had done it, but he was so thankful for it. He was also glad that his friends had passed all of their own O.W. Ls too, so they would all be sharing classes once more and it relieved him to know others in the classes.

And according to Imelda- while he wasn't as close with her as he was the others, they still stayed a bit in touch- there was also a chance that Quidditch would be back this year and she wanted him to try out for the Slytherin Team. He wasn't sure, after all he had only barely beat her time from the coastal course and he really didn't know much about the sport, even if he did read up on it out of curiosity when he had a chance last year. He chuckled as he imagined how she would react if they did have Quidditch again. He could already feel pity for the quidditch team. Especially if he was on it. He shook his head as he returned to his perusal of the items on the shelves. He had all of his potions lists, and some extras. His books. Some seeds. He knew Deek had been caring for the creatures in the R.o.R while he was gone this summer, so he was excited about seeing the creatures again as well. Maybe he could get some special treats for them? He would have to stop by the menagerie later to check. He was passing by a display case when he stopped.

The case held different pieces of jewelry, and among them was a beautiful silver necklace with four gorgeous, blue topazes shaped like 4 simple water drops. These stones surrounded a spherical aquamarine. The four raindrops were connected with a thin wire of some kind of silvery metal, with the spherical gem settled in the center, not touching anything by the looks of it. The entire thing held together by magic, it seemed. And all five gems held runes carved within them: Earth in the Northern gem. Air in the Eastern gem. Fire in the Southern gem. Water in the Western gem. The center gem contained a few runes: Magic. Protection. Purification. This in three points within the sphere.

Aquila couldn't help but be drawn to the piece, and he swore there was soft, inviting magic wrapping around the necklace. "I see it's caught your attention." A light, airy voice said from his side. He jumped in surprise and looked over to see an older woman with short brown hair and green eyes watching him. She was about the same height as him, maybe an inch or two taller. She was wearing a soft pink and white dress that reminded him of a regalia dress he had found last year.

"Oh, um... yes?" he asked, realizing he had spent too long studying her.

She laughed. "Calm down, young one. It's fine. So this one, is it?" She asked, indicating the piece.

"Um... Yes. I think it's rather beautiful."

"It is. It's been here for a few decades; none have even glanced at it." The woman said in a knowing voice.

"How could no one be interested in a piece like this one?" He asked in disbelief. Not only was it pretty, but the runes... They made it intriguing.

"It's magical, I know that. And I know it is very, very old. Maybe even old enough to be slightly sentient." The woman said with a grin.

"Magical jewelry can become sentient?" He asked in disbelieving curiosity. The woman's eyes studied him for a moment.

"Not jewelry, child. Artifacts. Items used for rituals or that have important purposes. And this one has enough to keep itself unnoticed until it finds the one it wants. Which is you, by the looks of things." The woman mused. "Which means, you must take it."

"Wait. What? But-" he began, trying to deny the... was that an order she gave him?

"Nope. I want it out of my store. It's just taking up space. It has already latched on to you." She said, not taking his denials as she opened the case and used a gloved hand to remove it.

"But-" he was interrupted by her pushing the necklace into his hands. It drew on his magic and began to glow brightly, almost the same as the ancient magic he had access too. Then he was wearing it around his neck, the jewel resting in the hollow of his throat as the chain shortened. He blinked not knowing what to do. This was not something he had come across in his year of being in the magical world.

"Now, you were staring at that for about an hour, so it's getting late young man. I suggest you head back to where you're staying for the night. The Hogwarts Express leaves at 11 in the morning and you'll want to be on it." she told him, shooing him out of the shop. She then firmly closed the door in his face and all the curtains were drawn and 'Closed' was shown on the door. Aquila blinked again.

'What just happened?' he wondered, confused. He shook himself when he noted that it was darker than when he had entered the shop. He glanced at the sky and noted the dark blue as night began to settle in. Then his stomach rumbled, and he decided that maybe it would be time to head back to his room for the night. He glanced at the gem that glowed slightly in the disappearing light and shook his head at the warmth it let off. He had a necklace now. Alright then. As he went to bed that night, his thoughts were on what was to come that year, and if it would be less excitable than last year. He hoped so.

: Hogwarts Staff Room. 31st August:

The staff room at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was alight with friendly talks and debates. They had just finished their first meeting of the year- usually the night before term started to ensure everyone had their class syllabus for first term and their schedules set. Especially those who were teaching N.E.W.T classes.

"And everyone has their list of N.E.W.T students?" Professor Weasley, Deputy Headmistress and Transfiguration professor asked, just to be sure.

"Yes Matilda. We have all confirmed our lists and schedules." Professor Ronen assured with a joyful laugh.

"Though I'll admit... That new student, Mr. Noir... Considering everything that had happened last year, in addition to its being his first year of formal education. He did very well." Professor Hecat said, impressed by the child.

"That is true. While I knew he was doing extremely well in class, I'm still surprised by just how well he did with his O. ." Professor Garlick agreed. Eleazar couldn't help his smile at the words of praise his little student was receiving.

"When I was mentoring him during that last week before term last year... He was using a secondhand wand and he had already been brilliant. He's a natural when it comes to magic. It makes me really curious about what ever accidental magic he may have performed growing up without realizing it." He mused.

"He's an amazing student." Sharp agreed, surprising everyone. He didn't give praise freely after all.

Things were slowly winding down as they re-discussed what Aquila Noir and his friends had been doing the year before. "Hopefully none of them get into more trouble this year." Weasley said.

'A darkness 100 years in slumber awakens.' The teachers looked over, alarmed when they heard the beginnings of a prophecy being spoken by their divination's professor. 'Betrayed once before, now returned with a hunger only satiated by revenge and ruin. Possessing forbidden flames, it ushers a storm to roll across the valley. Two parts of the same connection. One choice of two to make: Disperse the clouds. Snuff the light. Blood will face blood. An endangered line shall walk the precipice of extinction. A darkness, 100 years of corruption locked away unleashed. Blood will thwart blood. An endangered line shall walk the precipice of extinction.' Mudiwa Onai gave a shuddering breath as her eyes rolled to the back of her head and Sharp just barely caught her before she could collapse.

They were silent as they processed what they had just heard. "Merlin and Morgana!" Professor Weasley cursed in exasperation, shocking all of the teachers out of their stupor. "Looks like we'll have an eventful year this year after all." she grumbled.

"Let's just hope that none of the students get dragged into this, yes?" Ronen asked, getting a warning look from the red-headed transfiguration teacher.

"Looks like we're going to have more to plan around than we thought... Back to the meeting." Dinah Hecat said. And they did just that as Mudiwa came around. The teachers had to plan for another hour before they got at least a semblance of an idea. First, Prof. Sharp would have some of the fifth to seventh years make a blood line potion and take it in hopes of narrowing down who was in an endangered blood line. Onai would start on tea leaves. And Shah would read the stars. Hopefully one of them would be able to narrow down if a student was going to be involved while Eleazar and the others would research into incidents from a century ago to see what was awoken.

"The one upside to this is that we all know about it, instead of just one of us." Mirabel said before they left with a look being sent to Eleazar. The older teacher gave a sheepish laugh.

"Too true. Too true." The others agreed before they all left to turn in for the morning. They had students arriving that night and they still had much to plan for the day- and the rest of the year.

A/N: And that is the prologue with the plot of the story already in place for everyone to notice. Hope you enjoyed if you're reading this story. Again, I couldn't accept some of the deaths that happened in the game, and I really wish there had been an alternative to the Shadows quest line. So there. Thank you for reading.
