AN: I'm going to be honest, this was rushed a bit, I didn't have any draft on this chapter, so I basically came up with it while writing, which isn't something I'll be doing often. The reason why I did it was that I wanted to finish this arc since this is the last chapter for it, and I'm also going to stop releasing chapters for a couple of days or a week but I'll be working on the draft chapters when I'm not doing my own thing.
And yes, some of the characters might feel OOC, but that's because I didn't spend that much time thinking of what they would say. I usually come up with a few dialogue options for them before picking what best suits their reaction or what feels like something they would say, but I just came up with one dialogue and just decided to use that, so... sorry if they feel OOC, can't always be perfect all the time.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the chapter.
The Spot
I shook my head, my spots slowly returned to my arms and body. The city's skyline soon returned to how it originally was.
Beeps and car alarms were heard all around the city. Right, I've got to get to the mech before any of them destroys it.
I opened a portal but before I entered I thought about where I would put the mech. I can't fit it inside my room, that's impossible, I mean, I could but then it would destroy my room. I could always find an empty warehouse, but the chances of that are low, especially when there could be other criminals like me taking refuge or setting a base in those empty warehouses.
I entered the portal, I stood on the edge of the expressway, and looking down I saw four people fighting the mech. One was Ruby, I guess she planned to fight the mech down here. Then the other was a girl with yellow wavy hair, her outfit having a yellow and coffee color scheme.
Then there were two more girls, one with black hair and a black bow on her head, she seemed familiar. Lastly, the girl with a ponytail, her hair white. She wore a white dress that reached down towards her thighs and ended there.
I watched them fight the mech. I placed my hand forward, and a portal was placed, but it was found nowhere in sight.
Suddenly a portal appeared near the Mech, what came out was someone nobody expected it to be. It was Roman. He fell on his butt, he was befuddled for a moment before regaining his composure and standing back up.
I focused on a singular portal underneath the Mech, sending half of my portals to make it big enough to fit the mech through. The mech fell through the portal. There was only one place I could think of that would fit the mech, and that was the outside, so I sent it to the forest.
If I can manage to gain help from Roman and convince him to give me a warehouse for me to build the small-scale collider then I wouldn't need to worry about where to store the mech.
Though, It's going to be a tad bit hard to chat with him, especially when I stole his mech right under his nose while he's fighting people. I watched Ruby's face morph into an expression of recognition, she looked up as her eyes scanned the area back n' forth before she finally found me standing on the edge of the expressway. She stared at me, confused and anxious.
Hopefully, I don't come across her again after I team up with Roman, I don't want to hurt anybody, especially someone like her. But I doubt I'll listen to Roman if he ever commands me to kill someone, I'll only offer my aid in stealing dust. Nothing more, nothing less.
I opened a portal, on the same ground Ruby stood, although, I stood far from both parties. Exiting the portal, I was greeted by multiple eyes staring at me. Some of slight horror, probably my appearance, and some confusion.
"I'm guessing you're the one who stole my mech from me," Roman said as he dusted off his clothing, "I'm not sure if you know this, but I'm not too fond of people stealing from me, especially right in front of me."
"Sorry, I didn't have a choice, I really needed that mech, plus, it was going to get destroyed anyway by those four, why not put it to good use, right?" I said, an awkward silence right after.
"Yes, 'why not put it to good use.' Well, how do you suppose I do that when it's already been stolen from me by you?" Roman asked.
"Oh, yeaaah…" I trailed off, "That's the reason why I came here in the first place."
Roman raised an eyebrow at this, "As you can see, I can teleport people and objects through my portals."
I opened a portal beneath Roman, he fell through it but reappeared in the same spot as another portal appeared above his original position.
Roman had a look of surprise before he regained his composure, re-adjusting his small gray scarf.
"And I'm offering my aid in stealing dust for you," I said.
"What's the catch," Roman asked with a displeased face.
"You give me a warehouse where I can continue working on a certain project, that's all," I lied. I didn't want anyone to know what I'm creating, especially if it got into the wrong hands after I leave this planet/dimension.
Roman had a look of contemplation for a few seconds before responding, "Sure, why not." He said, sticking a hand out for a handshake. I took it as we held a firm grip.
"What!" Ruby shouted.
I turned around, looking in her direction.
"You can't trust him, he's not a good person, he'll back stab you if it meant getting a few thousand lien," Ruby said.
"Yea!" The black-haired girl said, "He's somehow got the white fang wrapped around his fingers, he has to have something on them for them to obey a human."
"Plus, I know he wouldn't listen to a human, he'd rather die than be under one…" The black-haired girl trailed off.
"Wow, I didn't know that's how you guys thought of me, I'm hurt," He said sarcastically,
"That's because that's exactly who you are!" The girl with yellow hair said.
"Ouch," Roman said, faking a wince.
"I've had enough of your rude comments," Roman said before turning towards me.
"Apologies, I forgot to introduce myself, name's Roman, Roman Torchwick," He introduced, "And it's a pleasure doing business with you."
I nodded, "I'm The Spot, and it's a pleasure doing business with you too, well, we haven't done anything so far yet, but I hope it's a pleasure later on, hopefully," I said, scratching my head. I was nervous, yes, but could you blame me? I've never really done the whole allying myself with other criminals personally. It was just me under a suspicious company that made deals with well-known criminals.
"Alrighty then," Roman said, "Since you can teleport objects and… people," Roman said, carefully watching the four girls' reactions.
The four girls' eyes widened before the girl with yellow hair lunged and roared in anger toward Roman. I opened a portal in front of her which she fell right into because she couldn't stop her momentum.
"Yang!" The three girls said in unison. Ah, so that was Yang.
I winced, "I'm sorry," I said before continuing, "Don't worry, I only sent her to somewhere random in the city, I hope you girls can understand that I really don't want to hurt anyone, I'm just trying to achieve something that requires me working with him."
This seemed to ease the three girls, their faces relaxed a bit, but they were still ready to enter battle if needed.
"But why did you have to work with him out of all people," Ruby said, her eyes furrowing.
"He's the only other criminal I met, plus, he's pretty good at what he does, have you seen the price of dust recently? I haven't seen prices go that high since gas prices, wait, you guys probably don't even know what gas is, not human gas, that's entirely different," I said, shaking my head at the thought.
"You're too kind, really," Roman said, "Well, it's time that we leave now," Roman said as he bowed.
"Neo." Roman said, suddenly a short girl with pink and brown hair appeared, she looked at me with a raised eyebrow before turning to Roman with a questioning stare.
"Don't worry, he's with us," Roman explained, "Let's leave, I've already had enough of red for today," Roman said. Neo nodded, they both started running at incredible speed and jumping high heights, so I had to use my portals to follow along since I can't do any of those.
I looked back once more, watching the three girls stand there in defeat. I glanced toward Ruby, I made eye contact with her, though, I'm not sure if she would know since I don't have eyes. But just crossing gazes made me feel a little guilty.
Just bear with it, after I finish this collider I can send myself off back home and forget about this place. I can finally reunite with my family, friends, and live a normal life…
