AN: Sorry for taking a while, it's been a busy week, work and stuff, especially when I use my spare time to bike around my neighborhood, don't really have time to spare for writing this month. But I will continue working on this story, only spending an hour or two writing though, so that means I'll only be able to release chapters around 1.5k-2k words, but thankfully that only takes a few hours, but the problem comes with me not having the time to spend on the story that and when I'm back from work I'm already tired and want to sleep. Anyway, just expect a couple of chapters coming out next week, hope you enjoy the read.
The Spot
1 Week Later….
"Wow," I paused, looking around, "This place is a little, uhh, how do I put it…." I said.
"Dirty, mucky, absolutely horrendous?" Roman added as he watched the White Fang members take boxes of red dust onto a train.
Roman's eyes roamed, falling on two faunus chatting, "Hey, hey!" Roman shouted, "Why am I even paying you animals if you're going to stand around and do nothing," Roman said angrily, "If you want to stand around and do nothing but chat then go to a zoo, I'm sure the animals there would welcome you both with open arms." Roman said, adjusting the bow on his neck as his eyes furrowed.
The two faunus, stared at him, their expressions hidden behind their masks. They both walked away getting back to work.
"Was it really necessary including that zoo part?" I asked.
"Yes, yes it was," He said. Roman's eyes looked at me from top to bottom.
"What?" I questioned, "Do I have something on me?"
"No," He trailed off, his eyes glancing toward the train, "I'm just surprised that someone like you exists, the ability to teleport anywhere and everywhere. That's a very valuable semblance." Roman explained.
I nodded, "I guess so, I'm glad I can teleport and all that, but- I wish it didn't cost me my humanity." I said.
"You don't look that bad, just a touch of nice clothing here and there and you'd look like any other person, except for the face, of course," Roman said, adjusting his suit's collar.
"Well, I know you aren't here to chat," Roman said, his voice calm, "What do you need, Spot?" Roman asked.
"You caught me," I said as I flailed my hands, "I actually kind of need help connecting the City's power line to my Project, but, I've got no idea if I'll be able to do that since I'm in a warehouse."
Roman raised an eyebrow at this, "There should be some generators outside behind the warehouse that could draw a lot of power, if not then just use the outlets inside, they can do the same thing. Sadly, the ones inside, draw their power from the city, use too much and the city will cut you off within a few seconds." Roman explained.
"But," Roman continued, "If you draw enough power all at once, you can take most of the city's power without being cut off, don't count on it though." Roman said, placing both hands on his cane. Roman leaned forward, his cane taking most of the weight.
"Though, I should warn you," Roman's voice took a sharp tone, "Huntsmen, if available, will be sent to the exact location where the immense amount of power has been drawn."
"So, do be careful," Roman said before continuing, "For my sake, of course."
I nodded, "Thanks, I'll keep that in mind-"
"Roman." A girl's voice said with a commanding tone.
Roman rolled his eyes, his face scoffing at the woman. Roman put on a smile before turning around to greet the bossy woman.
"Cinder, what seems to be the problem? I'm sure I've already stolen most of the dust in vale already." Roman asked.
"Most is not enough," She said, her eyes furrowing, "But that isn't why I'm here." Her eyes lingered in my direction.
"Then why are you?" Roman asked in a bitter tone.
"There's been a change of plans, the deadline more specifically," Cinder crossed her arms, her eyes furrowing a bit further because of Roman, "I'm here to inform you that you have three days till we execute my plan."
"Three days?" Roman said, exasperated.
"We still have a ton of dust that needs to be shipped from the city of Vale to here, you know how long that will take?" Roman asked, his voice raising in volume.
"I don't care how long it takes, just get it done." Cinder said before continuing, "You got your little buddy with you, use him" Cinder said, her eyes looking at me from top to bottom, "Whatever he is…." She trailed off.
"You think I haven't tried that already?" Roman said, annoyed, "He can place portals and teleport anywhere, yea, but if he hasn't seen the place before then it could take hours before he can place his portals in a location that doesn't have you eating dirt and actually you being inside of the building." Roman said.
"I'm still working on it." I said.
Cinder glared at Roman, "Then bring him to all of the warehouses next time you're in the city of Vale." Cinder said before continuing, "I don't have time to chat, I've got more important matters." Cinder said, her hand placed on her hips.
Cinder walked off a few seconds after.
Roman clicked his tongue, "I swear she doesn't even know the basics of being a criminal," Roman said.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"Isn't it obvious?" He said before continuing, "I would've brought you to the other warehouses if it wasn't for the fact that I'm a famous criminal and my face is plastered all over the news." Roman said.
"I would ask one of the animals to help you, but they don't anything about the locations of the warehouses." Roman rolled his eyes.
"Well, there's one thing to be grateful about, and that's the fact that Cinder's puppies weren't with her, god they're annoying." Roman added.
"I think they're alright…" I said. I've met them but they weren't really the kindest of the bunch, asked a lot about my appearance, asked a lot of questions about what I can and can't do, though, I didn't like that they poked at my holes, that was irritating.
Roman waved off my opinion, "Anyway, since I can't help you get to the warehouses, I know someone who can." Roman smirked.
"Neo." Roman said, calmly. The sound of glass shattering reverberated inside the huge cave I was in. Next thing I know, Neo stood right next to Roman, her parasol, on her shoulder, opened. A knowing smirk appeared on her face.
"Neo," He sighed, "I'm going to need you to bring Spot around the city, specifically where all the warehouses we store dust are," Roman said. Neo raised an eyebrow, she glanced between Roman and me, confused.
"A change of plans, we got three days to get all the dust onto the train." Roman said nonchalantly. Neo's eyes widened in surprise. "I know, that's how I felt, although a little angrier, but that's what cinder wants." Roman said.
Neo typed on her scroll, Fine, but you'll have to buy me ice cream next time, a lot of it.
"I will." Roman gave out a light-hearted chuckle. It's rare to see him chuckle, or laugh at that, well, laugh when it doesn't include making fun of someone.
And after we're done, promise that we'll leave Vale? I really hate being under someone's thumb, it's not fun, Neo typed as she pouted.
"Neo…" Roman trailed off, "Fine, I'll see what I could do, but I'd rather not leave on bad terms with sparky, you've seen what she could do," Roman said.
So what? We can still kick her ass, Neo typed. A smirk crept onto her face.
Roman sighed before smirking too, "I guess you're right,"
"Um, I'm still here, you know," I said while waving a hand.
Neo dropped her smirk, looking almost annoyed, "Right, forgot," Roman said as his face turned grumpy, "Neo, help him with finding the warehouses that still have dust stored."
Neo rolled her eyes. Alright, but we don't have any bullheads available, how will we get to the city? Neo typed.
"Did you forget?" Roman said as he gave her a questioning look, glancing his eyes over to me back n' forth. Neo opened her mouth into an o-shape, understanding what he meant.
"Well, off you two go now, these animals won't order themselves around." Roman said, twirling his cane before catching it.
Neo nodded. I watched as he walked off, yelling at the two faunus who were slacking off. I turned to Neo, seeing her already staring at me, mostly at the holes covering my body. It felt, odd, to say the least.
"You know, it's rude staring at someone's holes like that, though, I don't blame you since I am covered in holes, well, spots," I said.
Neo stared at me, unamused by my comment.
Do you really look like that because of your semblance? Neo typed, suspicion crossed her face.
"Um, yes?" I said. Well, it wasn't because of my semblance, I don't even have one to begin with, or aura at that, so I wouldn't even be able to get a semblance.
Neo performed a facial expression that felt like she was saying 'huh' I don't know how, but maybe it's because of her lack of vocal cords. That was honestly a surprise to me, she looked alright to me, with no scars anywhere on her neck. I thought she was just those quiet mute types, but I guess you can't be right every time.
Neo pulled closer to me, "No, stay away," I said as I backed away, "These spots can teleport objects and bio-mass, something beyond human capabilities. I'm not going to let you mess around with them like last time, and that's final."
"Plus, it's kind of weird having arms on my head or back, not really the best feeling, you know," I added.
Neo rolled her eyes, Come on, all I did was stick my arms in a couple of your spot portals. Neo typed.
"Yea, and smacked me in the face a couple of times, that hurt, and it still stings even now. You know, you could've been a bit gentler, like just touching and feeling," I said a bit annoyed.
Neo imitated a laugh, both hands on her stomach as she arched back a bit.
But it wouldn't have been that funny. Neo typed
"It shouldn't be funny smacking someone across the face, really, what's wrong with you people. I'm helping you guys, the least you could do is give me respect, if not then not messing with my spots would be pretty nice. Plus, the spots could lead to a different portal other than my body, so, it could be dangerous for you to stick anything inside, like your limbs." I said.
Neo lifted her hand, imitating me talking while she rolled her eyes again.
My shoulders slumped, "Fine, don't listen to what I have to say, don't listen to the person who's spots can literally teleport anywhere, including the ability to control it. Go ahead and do whatever, I guess." I said as I kicked a small rock across the cave.
Neo crossed her arms, not looking all amused. Are you going to open a portal to the city of Vale, or are we going there on foot? Neo typed.
"Yea, yea, I know," I peeled off a spot on my body, placing it in front of us as it stretched open to fit two people, "Happy now?" I said.
Yep. Neo typed as a smile appeared on her face, skipping into the portal. I would be rolling my eyes right about now if I had any, but I don't.
I walked into the portal after Neo, a cold breeze hitting my face as the moon's light loomed over us. It was dark.
