''I don't think we should do this.'' Mi Sun sighed as she finished packing her suitcase.
''We should and we need this.'' Jin assured her as he picked up the two suitcases and carried them out of the room.''We haven't had a break from the kids since we got them.''
''We get a break from them everyday at work.'' Mi Sun protested as she followed Jin to the door where he sat the suitcases down.
''We need a break from work too.'' Jin pointed out straitening up and staring at his wife.
'I don't need a break. I'm fine.'' Mi Sun said as fighting was heard from upstairs and her phone began to ring.
''You get that. I'll get that.'' Jin said jerkimg his thumb in the direction of the stairs.
Mi Sun watched her husband calmly walk up the stairs as she answered her phone. She wondered how he could be so calm. The kids had been driving her crazy all week.
Monday
Mi Sun sat down for the first time in five hours and sighed when her phone rang and the number of the school where her older children popped up.
''Hello.'' Mi Sun answered.
''Mrs. Park I have Min Hee here in my office. I need you to come down here so we can discuss a few things.'' Principal Lim explained.
Mi Sun sighed quietly trying to keep the irritation out of her voice when she said .''I'll be right there.''
Mi Sun began packing up her stuff when her phone rang yet again. Mi Sun briefly glanced at her phone noticing that it was the daycare. She sucked in a breath before answering, hoping that Ji Yeon hadn't bitten a kid again.
''Hello. Yes I'll be right there.'' Mi Sun hung up the phone and took the elevator up to the daycare to pick up her sick daughter.
Mi Sun stepped out of the elevator to see Ji Yeon being held by one of the daycare workers. She could tell right away that Ji Yeon didn't feel good and that she had been crying.
Upon seeing her mother, Ji Yeon immediately reached for Mi Sun,who took her into her arms. She was warm to the touch, but nothing to serious. Mi Sun hoped it was from teething and not something more serious.
Mi Sun made her way to her car headed to the school to deal with her oldest child. She sometimes regretted getting custody of her two nephews and neice. She would never say it out loud because she knew they were better off where they are now,but it was really hard at times taking on three more children after only be a parent for not even a year.
She was almost to the school when her phone rang once more. She was at a red light so she answered it to find that it was another school calling about her oldest nephew. He had gotten beat up and was on his way to the hospital with a possible broken arm.
After hanging up with the school,Mi Sun called her husband to see if he could go to the hospital to be with Min Ho,only for it to go to voicemail. She sighed and hurried to the school,hoping it wouldn't take to long to deal with whatever Min Hee had done.
Mi Sun reached the school and upon exiting her car noticed that Ji Yeon had fallen asleep. She sighed in relief when Ji Yeon didn't wake up when she was taken out of her car seat. Mi Sun walked into the office area of the school where the principal and Min Hee were waiting for her. Mi Sun took a seat while Principal Lim began to list the reasons why they were all here.
Thankfully Ji Yeon slept through the meeting that took longer then expected and ended with Min Hee being suspended for the rest of the week.
''Where did you even get weed?'' Mi Sun asked once they were back in the car.
Min Hee didn't answer, instead she just slumped in her seat crossing her arms.
''Is that why you were fighting?'' Mi Sun asked as they made their way to the hospital.
Once again Min Hee ignored her. Instead she looked out the window.
Right as they pulled into the hospital Ji Yeon began crying. MI Sun quickly parked the car and got Ji Yeon out only to discover that she had thrown out. She quickly got her out of her clothes and wrapped a blanket around her as it had gotten a little chilly now that the sun was going down.
Meanwhile over at Tommy's house, Min Jun sat on the couch waitimg for someone to pick him up. He liked playing with his friends, but all of the ones who didn't live at Tommy's house had already gone home. He was the last of Tommy's friends to still be there and he was starting to feel annoyed. He thought his aunt and uncle were better then his parents and would never forget about him,unless something bad had happened to them. Min Jun really hoped that wasn't the case and that one of them would come for him soon.
''Dinner is ready.'' Didi called as she leaned her head into the living room.
Tommy and Dil jumped off the couch and raced to the kitchen. Tommy quickly turned around and looked at Min Jun.
''Aren't you coming?'' He asked.
Min Jun simply shook his head. They were having tuna casserole for dinner,which Min Jun dispised since trying it once when Tommy had brought it to pre school. He just wanted to go home and have a dinner that he liked.
Didi noticed the time,but figured that Min Jun's parents were running late because of work. She tried calling but both phones went straight to voicemail. She didn't have any of Min Jun's other family members numbers. She would have to get them just in case this happened again, not that she minded watching the kids longer then normal,it would just be nice to have in case she ever needed to get ahold of someone else.
''Isn't Min Jun going to join us?'' Didi asked as the boys dug into their plates.
''He doesn't like this.'' Tommy told her as he was about to take another bite.
Didi got up from her seat and went into the living room.
''Do you want me to make you something else for dinner?'' She asked sitting next to Min Jun on the couch.
''No thank you.'' Min Jun told her quietly. He was a little hungry, but didn't feel much like eating since he didn't know when or if his parents would pick him up.
''Ok, let me know if you change your mind.'' Didi told him as she made her way back into the kitchen to finish dinner with her boys.
Once everyone was finished with dinner, Didi sent the boys off to play while she cleaned up. It was nearing eight in the evening by the time Didi got the kitchen cleaned and still no word from either one of Min Jun's parents. She tried calling again, only for the phones to go to voicemail once again. She sighed and sent the boys to bed hoping she would hear something soon.
Meanwhile at the hospital Min Ho sat with his arm in a sling and his head bandaged up. He had a black eye and a cut on his cheek to go along with his concussion. The school bullies had jumped him after school.
He was discharged four hours later. It was midnight by this point and everyone was tired and hungry. There were no food places open this late, so Mi Sun hurried home and made ramen in the microwave, only for Min Ho and I Ji Yeon to throw it up a few minutes later. Mi sighed as she began cleaning up the mess all while Ji Yeon sat crying in her high chair and Min Ho apologizing through his tears.
''It's ok.'' Mi Sun assured him as she gave him his pain medicine and sent him to bed. Min Hee followed him not bothering to say a word.
''Now it's your turn.'' Mi Sun said turning to Ji Yeon, who was still crying.
Mi Sun picked her up and noticed that she felt warmer then before. She got the thermomitor out of the cabinet and swiped it across Ji Yeon's forehead and groaned when the results said 102. It was going to be a long night and all Mi Sun wanted to do was sleep. She looked in the cabinet for the medicine that she needed only for not to be there. She wasn't surprised that they were out. Since starting daycare, Ji Yeon had gotten sick a lot.
Mi Sun wet a wash cloth under the faucet and was about to head to her room when she heard Cleo whining to come in.
''Sorry Cleo, you're probably hungry too.'' Mi Sun said as she let Cleo inside.
Cleo ran over to her food bowl. Mi Sun filled it and walked to her room trying to mentally prepare herself for the long night. She had done this before many times,but today had been very taxing.
She put Ji Yeon in bed next to her and placed the cool wash rag on her forehead only for Ji Yeon to whine and push it away.
''I'm sorry sweetie but I have to get your fever down.'' Mi Sun said placing the wash rag back where it needed to be.
Ji Yeon protested once more but soon gave up the fight and just stayed still. She fell asleep a few minutes later.
Once Mi Sun noticed that Ji Yeon was asleep she plugged in her phone that had died sometime during the day and noticed after a few minutes that she had five missed calls and two voicemails. She was about to check them when Jin walked into the room.
''Why didn't you answer your phone?'' Jin asked while he changed into his pajamas.
''It was dead.'' Mi Sun told him as she yawned.
''What did you need?'' Jin asked climbing into bed careful not to wake Ji Yeon.
''I needed you to go to the hospital to sit with Min Ho while I dealt with Min Hee being suspended.'' Mi Sun explained.
''Sorry I was busy at work.'' Jin told her as he made himself comfortable.
''I handled it.'' Mi Sun assured him.
''Was Didi ok with you picking Min Jun up so late?'' Jin asked.
''Oh shit. I forgot to pick up Min Jun.'' Mi Sun said sitting bolt up right and waking Ji Yeon up.
