What you recognize I don't own. Robin Hood is both a legend and a historical figure, for the average person he's just a legend but for certain members of the British Government he's very much a historical figure who actually lived during the time that the legends place him. Also while there are a couple of elements from Robin Hood BBC Robin doesn't die the same way as he does in the show and it takes longer to end things too, long enough that Djaq and Will decide to return to England. Foreign and alien languages are asterisks as always

The person was acting calm but at the same time they were anxious, this is because while they knew that they were going to a Renaissance Fair in costume that was fairly time period accurate, they also knew that having an actual weapon, even peace tied would raise eyebrows at the security checkpoint due to their age, and a raised eyebrow did indeed happen

"What exactly is a child doing with a live blade?"

"EDC kid sir, I know the rules and will keep it peace tied at all times unless my life or the lives of others are threatened"

"Very well, since you have identification on you as proof I'll leave it at that, however expect others to question you having live steel while there if it's noticed"

"Understood"

Once they were past the security point the person bought the ticket and was stopped again, this time due to being without an adult due to their age, but again the identification that proved that they were an EDC kid allowed them to be at the Fair unescorted, but warned that they were going to be watched closer due to their age

"Understood"

And so the person simply enjoyed the Fair finding it interesting that it was pretty similar to her own country since she was visiting Great Britain during the summer and was actually a US citizen when suddenly a portal opened up in front of them and they unknowingly disappeared. When they landed they landed hard and disoriented, but quickly gathered their wits and started trying to figure out where they were now. It took a week but they discovered they were in the past and were suddenly very glad that they were wearing time period clothing, and that they had destroyed the peace ties in a way that obliterated evidence of anything ever having been on the blade or that it wasn't from the time period they were currently in

"Right, this is going to get tricky"

It would take another two and a half months but finally they were given the opportunity to join Robin Hood's gang via attacking a soldier, having known about Robin Hood two days after they'd arrived in their current time period but the group was silent until they reached the forest, then and only then did Robin speak up with a tint of anger and fear in his voice that only they could catch

"Do you even realize what you've done?"

"Better than you anyways"

"You killed one of the Prince's men, that makes you just as much of an outlaw as me, maybe even more so since I haven't killed anyone"

"Listen, there's something you need to know, but I will only explain it to you in private, no one else, you can make further decisions based on what I tell you"

"Fine"

And so while Robin and the stranger go a short distance to talk quietly the rest of the group started getting curious about their potential new member but finally Robin came back with the stranger

"Everyone, she's joining our group"

"Welcome aboard, how do you know how to shoot by the way?"

"Due to reasons that only Robin is aware of my family insisted I learned how to protect myself and if that means knowing how to wield a weapon, than it means knowing how to wield a weapon"

"What are we going to call you anyways?"

"Steven, it's close enough to my given name that I can easily respond to it"

"I have a different two questions, one is if you're sure you can follow my orders and only my orders, and the other is if you're attached to your hair"

"I can follow orders from anyone if it means surviving, as for my hair..."

"Steven" grabs their knife and uses it to cut their hair down to a length that wouldn't immediately identify them as female

"That should work, for the moment anyways"

"Indeed it shall, though I must admit I didn't quite expect you to do that immediately considering what's all on that knife"

"Not an issue that I'll explain to you later Robin"

"Got it"

And so the next few days were spent with "Steven" adjusting to the camp, and muttering under their breath on occasion but finally "Steven" and Robin talked and whatever it was that was mentioned was kept quiet by the two of them but Robin did mention that his worries about certain actions had been dealt with and Much finally asked the question that had been on his mind for a few days now

"Steven, how are you so good with the bow and arrow at your age? I'm also wondering about your knife work considering how we met"

"My family, all of them, wanted to make sure that I could protect myself if necessary, the reasons behind that are complicated and something that only Robin knows, however it's definitely coming in handy right now"

"Indeed, though considering what I know I'm surprised that they insisted on you learning those weapons"

"I'll tell you more about it in private Robin, but they did have their reasons beyond wanting to make sure I could defend myself if necessary"

And so in private "Steven" explained why she was taught how to use what was essentially archaic weapons in her time period

"My family knew I might not have access to modern weapons and thus taught me how to use other weapons that I might have available on hand at the time, including knives and the bow and arrow"

"I see, how often did you train with various weapons?"

"Practically every day Robin, my family knew it was the only way to keep me alive and I'm very, very glad they've done what they did because it's keeping me alive now"

"I see"

That night due to talking about her training with Robin and the gang she dreamed about one of her more intense training sessions, and the one where even she had questioned the need to learn how to use the bow and arrow

Dream/memory

"Again Stefanie"

Stefanie shoots the arrow again, and actually hits the target this time but is once again told to shoot

"Again"

"No Jazz!, I hate this, we don't even use these types of weapons anymore except for recreation or sport so why should I have to learn how to use the bow and arrow? I mean...it's not even a modern bow and arrow but one that would have been used in the days of Robin Hood or so"

"The Primes and Galvatron want you to learn this Stef"

"But why Jazz? I want to know why I'm learning these weapons when I have my powers and access to Cybertronian weaponry, or at least guns of some sort almost all the time"

Jazz sighs before speaking up

"Come here Stef, we need to talk about something that should have been discussed with you when you were five and starting to learn how to fight"

And so Stefanie goes over to Jazz who puts out a hand for her to step on and is soon at eye level with one of her adoptive family members

"You already know that as our daughter you're at higher risk of being abducted or something else happening to you, it's why next year you'll also be spending some time doing specialized training with me every summer for a month. What you don't realize is that while you may normally have access to the weapons you talked about there's always the chance that for whatever reason you suddenly don't have access to them, when we realized that the Primes and Galvatron actually talked to Captain Faireborne and other soldiers and EDC officers what we could do to still keep you safe in that very unlikely, but still quite possible scenario and they told us about teaching you how to use weapons from older periods of history. We all talked about it for a while and knew we had time to make a decision since you were only a year old at the time and barely starting to walk but ultimately we decided that teaching you how to use weapons from an older time in history was a good idea and the best way to keep you safe under any circumstances you might find yourself in"

"Thus why I'm being taught all this different weaponry alongside my martial arts lessons"

"Exactly, it's also why I'm being so firm on you hitting the target, now then I don't expect perfection from you, especially since you only picked up the bow and arrow for the first time today an hour ago, but eventually I want regular accuracy from you, for now though we'll settle on you simply hitting the target sometimes okay?"

"Understood Jazz, at least it's not unreasonable expectations"

"No, and I'm sure you knew it wouldn't be unreasonable from the start since we've never had unreasonable expectations with you before"

"You never know, when you mentioned wanting me to learn this new weapon your voice intensified in a way I'd never heard before, a kind of panic that you've never shown in the past when I was learning something new"

"Ah, that's because things are intensifying with an intergalactic neutral party that's turning...less neutral as time goes by and we want you to be able to defend yourself if all other weapons aren't available as quickly as possible while still doing it safely"

"Makes sense, you're all stressed about what could come in the future, now that I think about it I've heard scuttlebutt around EDC officers when they think I'm not around or paying attention that's mentioned the same issue lately, and while you guys can survive things that would kill a person...I'm you're daughter, even though I have powers, I'm still very much human and fragile, plus like I already said, I'm you're daughter and naturally parents worry about their kids"

"In any case that's why we're so intense right now, and why we need to get you back to your training"

"Right"

And so Stefanie continues the training for another hour before Jazz said that she was done for the day

Present

Stefanie wakes up and sees that the rest of the gang was asleep and so she started breakfast and once Robin was awake continued to learn how to be one of his people. For three months things were okay and then she was captured by the sheriff and held prisoner for an undetermined amount of time, right as she was starting to go through puberty or some where's in that time period in her mind. She also thought back to the training Jazz had given her to resistance torture which kept her from completely breaking, though there were days that she cracked and gave harmless information to the sheriff, common information that everyone knew but finally she was rescued by Robin and the gang

"About...time...Robin"

"Sorry, it took a bit to find you"

"Let's...go...now"

And so the group heads back to camp and simply allows "Steven" the time they need to recover, and then one day Stefanie was simply doing basic maintenance on her weapons when suddenly she paused realizing something important

"Hey Robin"

"Yes Steven?"

"I know you took care of my knife when that recent issue happened, but what happened to your knife? I'm also wondering what happened to the sword you were carrying, I haven't seen either since I came back"

Robin sighs

"They're lost Steven, the knife was broken beyond even a blacksmith's ability to repair it, as for the sword, it fell into the pond that we were fighting near and thus that too is forever lost since no one can swim for it without risks to themselves and others for complicated reasons"

"I see...then as thanks for what you've done you can have my knife"

"Steven no, that knife is special to you"

"It may be special to me, but I can always get another somehow, you know that"

Eventually Robin gives in and Stefanie gives him the knife and that's when he discovers writing that he knew could only be the language of Stefanie's unique family that only he out of everyone in the group knew about

"I'm honored, by the way, the additions you somehow added to the knife..."

"I'll talk to you about that in private Robin"

And so the two head to a private place

"So, what's going on with the message on the knife?, which I can't read"

"The knife says 'the holder of this knife is like kin to me, may their death be avenged swiftly should they fall in battle at the hand of their enemy, their enemy is now my enemy, this knife will be the avenging knife if possible', well that's the basic translation and is kind of a loose one at that but..."
Stefanie shrugs

"One of my native languages is complicated and some of their words have no translation that works well in English so we improvise a little if needed"

"I see...there's something you're not telling me isn't there?"

"Yes, but only because I don't want my future to be affected if at all possible"

"Understood, by the way how did you not break while captive? I'm asking now because it's something that the whole group has been wondering but I've been keeping them away from you so that you're not pressured into telling them things you shouldn't"

"Primarily through Jazz, though Soundwave and Blaster also helped on occasion"

"Oh?"

"Yeah, Jazz is what's known as a special operations guy, a spy, and a good one too considering what you already know about my family. Soundwave and Blaster are communications, but they have telepathic abilities and over time learned that they could do it with humans as well and thus Jazz occasionally has them help in interrogations or in training EDC officers since some of the enemies of the EDC are telepathic"

"Torture, he tortures you in training"

"To a degree yes, it's combined with training called SEAR, which is another form of interrogation/torture training but done strictly by the military of my time and my home country"

"I see"

"In any case though that training is what kept me sane and from completely breaking and revealing things that shouldn't be revealed, either about me or the group. I did crack I'll admit to that, but what I revealed was stuff that was commonly known anyways"

"I see, I think...I think if there's time later I want to hear a story about your interrogation training that you've gone through, but for now let's head to camp"

"Right"

And so Robin would go on to use the knife to great effectiveness, being the only other person besides Stefanie who knew why it was so durable, though even she had admitted to Robin in private that if put under enough strain the knife would break, but it would have to be a lot more strain then the normal use and fighting that Robin currently put it under. Four years after Stefanie gave Robin the knife and five years after she'd been sucked into the past though, the event that Stefanie knew would come happened, during a fight against the Sheriff Robin got stabbed with a sword and Stefanie knew it was a mortal wound and shot the person who had stabbed Robin and quickly came over to him

"Robin...I...I can't do anything for you"

"I...know...end...this"

Robin hands Stefanie the knife she herself had given Robin several years earlier and with that knife Stefanie ultimately kills the sheriff

"Now what?"

"We still have work to do against Prince John"

"You guys do, as for me, I have other things I need to do, but after we...we bury Robin"

And so the group heads to just outside of Sherwood's boundaries and digs Robin's grave, but before they could start covering him Stefanie holds up a hand to stop them

"Wait, I have to give him something before he's buried, something important"

And so Stefanie brings out the knife that belonged to her once more due to Robin's death and made sure it was put between his legs since his hands occupied the sword he had started carrying again only two years earlier, having gone strictly with the bow and arrow for two years after his knife and sword were lost

"But...but that's your knife Steven, even if you gave it to Robin I know for a fact that Robin wanted you to have it again if anything happened to him"

"Which means it's mine to do with as I wish, and I want it buried with Robin, along with this"

With that Stefanie also puts a book in between Robin's legs

"The knife I know will stand the test of time, but that book of yours..."

"It gets buried with Robin and that's final"

"Very well"

And so the group buries Robin and then Stefanie leaves the gang knowing that her time in the past was growing short, she'd actually known that for three months now but simply hadn't known when it would happen until that day when Robin had died
