Both of us didn't say anything, but we were wide awake in bed.
We both had too much to think about, but nothing to say to each other.
There was nothing left to say now.
I had made up my mind this time.
I had to do this.
But wasn't it too late for the separation?
We had been together for more than fifteen years! It's like I didn't know a life without him!
I should have done that earlier.

What if we had never gotten married?
What if I had called off the wedding the first time he had lied to me? Well, according to him it was the only time he had lied to me!

Why didn't I see it back then?

Things would have been so different!
"What do you think of this dress?" I made a video call to Alice from the store.
I was getting married in a few days, and I was happy to have a sister-in-law with impeccable taste in styling!
"It looks great!" she said.
"What happened?" I smiled, "You sound down today? Is everything okay?"
"Not really!" she sighed.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Ummm... Nothing. Edward and Mom just had a horrible fight, and I'm a bit in shock right now." she said.
What?
Edward was there? But he just texted me that he was busy in a meeting. Why would he lie to me?
And Esme and he had a fight?

"Is he still there?" I asked.
"No, he just left." she said.
Just left?
Why would he lie to me?
"Why did they have a fight?" I asked.
"No... It's just something regarding Angela..." she said.
Angela?
His ex?
"What about her?" I asked.
"I don't know if I should tell you or not..." she said.
Was it that bad?
"Alice! Tell me! Please!" I said.
"Mom made a mess!" she sighed, "Angela, you know... doesn't belong to a financially strong family. Mom didn't really like her. She thought Edward could do much better, but he loved her, so..."
He loved her! I mean, I knew that, but suddenly I found myself getting jealous of her.
"There was nothing really she could do about it, but then Edward said he wanted to marry her, and she panicked." she said.
"He wanted to marry her?" I asked.
He had told me that he was in a serious relationship with her, but I didn't know it was that serious!
"Oh yeah, they were kind of engaged. Only the ring was missing!" She said, "Angela's Mom had some serious medical issues and things got critical. So Mom offered to take the full financial responsibilities of her treatment, but she had a condition that she had to leave Edward."
"What the fuck?" I said.
This was absurd!
It was insane!
"Angela should have handled it differently, but she was kind of naive... So she made it look like she was cheating on Edward! He got mad and that's why they broke up. But... Rosalie blurted it out today and now Edward is mad! I can't say I blame him! I'm also shocked!"
My head was spinning.
This was insane!
Why would Esme do that?
But the most important question was, what did that mean for Edward and my future?
Thank God Alice had no filter! I might have never known this!
"You please don't take too much stress!" She said, "Mom's approach was horribly wrong, but I think she was right about the fact that Edward would actually be happy with someone like you."

"He didn't even want to meet you at first, but look how happy he is with you!" she said.
Edward didn't even want to meet me?
