I DO NOT OWN MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS. I WAS INSPIRED TO WRITE THIS STORY BASED ON MY OWN STUDY OF THE SUBJECT AND THE STORIES OF BELLA GRACELYN PRENTISS. A BIG SHOUTOUT TO HER. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I KNOW THAT THIS STORY IS GOING TO BE CONTROVERSIAL AS FUCK. I HAVE BASED MY OPINIONS OF DAVID KORESH AND HIS FOLLOWERS ON THE AVAILABLE EVIDENCE AND PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE AND KNEW THEM PERSONALLY. I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME OR ENERGY FOR FLAMERS. IF DUMPING ON ME OR THIS STORY IS WHAT YOU MEAN TO DO, DON'T. JUST FUCKING DON'T. DO NOT READ, DO NOT REVIEW, DON'T. ALSO, THIS STORY IS AU. IN THIS UNIVERSE, THE FIRST SEASON OF MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS STARTS IN 1993 INSTEAD OF 1994. IN ADDITION, TOMMY RECONNECTED WITH HIS BROTHER EARLIER AS WELL.
Angel Grove, California. January 12, 1993.
Tommy Oliver stood with his head cast down at the polished rock that stood before him. He didn't want to believe it was true, that he was gone. Yet, the writing on the polished rock assured him that this was real.
Here Lies David Trueheart
1976-1994
Beloved Son And Brother
Tommy could still feel the pain as fresh as he did when his parents had sat him down to tell him. His brother, the only brother that he had in the world and now he was gone. During elementary school, David had moved out to Waco, Texas in order to work at their uncle Benji's farm machinery store. After years of estrangement, David had finally come out to Angel Grove to reconnect with his long lost brother. Everything had seemed to be going so well for David. All of Tommy's friends had really seemed to like him. He had fit right in with Tommy's circle of friends.
Then, everything had come crashing down. David had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer despite the fact that the dude had never smoked a cigarette in his life. David had faced his final days with the strength that Tommy and his friends had come to expect from him. When his brother finally did pass away, Tommy was still surprised. He partly expected that David was going to beat it; like he had any other challenge presented to him.
But he didn't beat it. Tommy's brother had succumbed to the illness. Tommy felt cheated as he stood over his brother's grave. He had only had his brother back in his life for a short time and then he had been ripped out of it. Now...he had this gaping hole in his heart where the love that he held for his big brother had once been. Tommy heard the sound of grass crunching beneath feet and when he turned around to see who was approaching, he was partly relieved to see his best friends walking up to him.
Ever since Tommy had moved to Angel Grove, the other Power Rangers had been his lifeline. There was red ranger Jason Scott, the only guy who could ever offer him a challenge when it came to martial arts. Blue ranger Billy Cranston, who was by far the smartest dude in Angel Grove. Black ranger Zack Taylor, who was the coolest of the rangers; especially with the martial art style that he'd invented: Hip Hop Akido. Yellow Ranger Trini Kwan, who knew more about martial arts than any other chick in town; and the only one of the rangers to give Jason and Tommy a run for their money. Finally, there was the pink ranger: Kimberly Hart. The all American valley girl and the girl that Tommy loved with all his heart.
"Hey Tommy, you doing ok?" Jason asked as he put his hand on his friend's shoulder.
"To be honest, I feel like I'm as ok as I can be." Tommy admitted sheepishly.
"We just want you to know that we're here for you bro, whatever you need." Zack insisted as he gave Tommy a side hug.
"Affirmative, we'll always be here to support you." Billy added.
"I really appreciate it guys...I just think that I need to be alone for a bit." Tommy said with a weak smile as the rangers nodded and moved to leave him be.
"We'll always be here for you Tommy...if you want to talk." Trini assured her friend as she hugged him tightly before leaving. Only Kimberly was left alone with her boyfriend. The Pink ranger took Tommy's face in her hands and kissed him deeply.
"Tommy, honey...I'm so sorry about your brother; I know how much you meant to him, and how much he cared about you." Kim said as Tommy held her tightly in his arms.
"Yeah...it's just hard that he's gone." He said as he caressed her cheek.
"I just wish that you didn't have to go." She replied as she laid her head on his chest. After Dave's death, Tommy's parents had suggested that he go pay his uncle Benji a visit out in Waco; because without Dave Trueheart, he was all alone now.
"Kim, you know that I want to stay with you…but my mom and dad want me to make sure that my uncle Benji is ok." Tommy insisted as he held his girlfriend close in his arms.
Kimberly's heart heart for her boyfriend. She wanted so badly to be there for him; to take away his pain. Despite her status as a power ranger, even the power had limits.
"Just remember that we'll always be here for you Tommy, when you come back." Kim assured him as they shared a deep and passionate kiss.
"I know Kim..." Tommy replied as he felt the love that Kimberly had for him. Even when Rita Repusla had put him under her spell and turned him into her evil green ranger, she and the others had never given up on him.
