She was tired. So. Very. Tired. It was all too much for Hailey Upton; she had hit rock bottom. On her way back from the bar just down the street to what was now only HER apartment, all she could think about was Jay and how badly he treated her the past week, month and even year.

It had been 13 months since he left for Bolivia, 4 months longer than he had originally intended to be gone for and Hailey had had enough. Jay promised he would be back as soon as possible. He sincerely promised. But turns out, he was a liar. A stone cold liar. Every month the same phone call would repeat:

J- Hey Hails, how are you?

H- Im fine, I miss you so much.

J- I know you do. I have something to tell you.

H- What?

J- The tour has been extended another month. I'm so sorry Hailey. I've got to go now but I'll be back next month. I promise.

There was that word again, 'promise'. She was so so sick of her husbands games. He never said 'I love you' or 'I miss you' anymore. He was just completely blunt. Maybe Voight was right when he said that she needed to let go.

Hailey stumbled through the door of her desolate apartment, extremely drunk, taking in the emptiness that it radiated. All she needed to do was scream. The closest of which she could do at the grand time of 2am was listen to her playlist.

She put it on shuffle and her favourite song came on: Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo. It was her moment for the next 4 minutes and 4 seconds. As the chords of the piano rose, tears began to fall from her glassy blue eyes.

The first verse began, Hailey was sobbing hysterically. She felt as if she was completely out of control and could just let loose.

As the chorus began to build, it all became too much. A photo of her and Jay was staring deep into her soul. She couldn't deal with seeing his face everywhere, seeing anything remotely related to him anymore. She grabbed it and smashed it on the ground, causing glass to splatter everywhere.

# I used to think I was smart but you made me look so naive #

That was exactly how she felt. So naive. Her whole life she felt so dumb and useless. Throughout her childhood, her marriage nothing had ever gone right. She was completely done with everyone and everything.

Hailey had completely broke and had no idea what to do with herself anymore. She had no one close to her anymore. No family, no husband and she felt so distant from the unit. After Jay left, it's like they just drifted and he was the glue that kept them all together. That was exactly what she didn't need at that present moment.

As she lowered herself to the floor against the front door, deja vu hit her. As soon as Jay left what was once THEIR apartment, she found herself on the floor, head in knees, not knowing how to cope without him anymore. But now, the only difference was that she didn't need him anymore.

#bleeding me dry like a god-damn vampire #

The music began to fade. The silence was filled by one thing, Hailey's emotions. She just let them run free and kept crying until her eyes were red raw and she had no more tears left in her. That night was her worst in a long time. It ended with her crying herself into a semi-peaceful sleep. She was exhausted. So. Very. Exhausted
