On Today's Episode: While the rest of the spies deal with Macker and his Eclipse Cannon, that leaves Nick, Alex, May, Nozomi and Haruka to pursue Genesis, who's made a house call to a place Nick never expected to see again. Even worse, Genesis has mutated himself into a menacing monster to even the odds. Can Nick and the girls put an end to Genesis' rampage before it tears apart a piece of Nick's past?
Act 3: Descent Into Madness
7:35 P.M. – Somewhere in Beverly Hills
"He's gotta be around here somewhere," Haruka quipped as the five of them followed the trail left by Genesis' signal.
"I sincerely hope he's not leading us on some kind of wild goose chase," May stated. "He's gonna get another lump from anchor if he is..."
At this point, Nick realized something rather interesting about this particular neighborhood that they'd found themselves in.
"...everything okay, Nick?" Alex wondered.
"Something about this place... I can't quite put my finger on it, but it feels very familiar," Nick responded.
Eventually, the signal stopped at a two-story house in the suburbs.
And from just looking at the house, the memories swiftly came flooding back to Nick.
"This... this is my old house," Nick gasped. "This is where I used to live until I lost my parents."
"Wait, then what is Genesis doing here, of all places?" Nozomi wondered.
"I honestly don't want to know, but let's head inside before he tries anything underhanded," Alex quipped.
Nick took slow, cautious steps towards the front door and opened it to behold that pretty much everything that was still in the house was exactly as he'd left it after moving in with the spies.
It was like a snapshot of simpler times, before Tim Scam had invaded his life and left a scar of sorts that would probably never heal fully.
"Ah, I see you're enjoying reliving the old memories."
Nick's gaze snapped over to the main living room, where Genesis was standing there waiting for them.
"I figured you'd appreciate a little trip down memory lane," Genesis chuckled.
"Is there any particular reason that you brought us to my old house, Genesis?" Nick retorted, his right hand beginning to glow a bright green. "Because I have a sinking suspicion that it wasn't just 'for old times' sake'."
"You have mentioned that this was where you lost your parents to Tim Scam and his machinations," Genesis proclaimed. "Quite the traumatizing event for anyone your age at the time, say true."
"Is there a rest stop between now and the flip-truckin' point?" May sniped, her anchor at the ready.
"The point, little pirate girl, is that Tim Scam made the unfortunate mistake of not stopping with just them," Genesis responded, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a syringe full of evil-looking green liquid. "I am going to correct that mistake right here and now, boy. And what better place to send you to your grave than your own home?"
"All right, I think I've heard enough," Alex proclaimed. "Come on, everyone, let's mess him up."
Suddenly, Genesis snapped his hand out and injected himself with the syringe.
"...oh, who thinks this is going to end well?" Haruka sighed.
Genesis briefly fell to his knees as the mutation serum did its thing, and he eventually stood back up as he transformed into a large golem-like monster wearing Genesis's lab coat, and with two long, razor-sharp blades protruding from his wrists.
"What in the hell?!" Nozomi shouted.
"I hope you enjoy the sweet release of death, spies, because you've all got a pressing appointment with hell!" Genesis shouted, his voice now deep and menacing to match his new form.
Even worse, Genesis lunged forward with speed that belied his golem-like appearance and slashed his arm blades towards Nick, who backflipped away to avoid the strike.
Genesis attacked again, and though Nick was able to avoid the slash again, Genesis' blade tore a nasty gash in the wall of the living room.
"You wanna stop tearing up the place, Genesis?!" Nick shouted.
"I'm going to bring this place down on your head, boy!" Genesis bellowed, slashing his blades all around to destroy whatever he could. "You don't need it anymore, right?!"
Nick lunged forward and slugged Genesis in the chest with a wicked right hook, and though it predictably didn't do much damage thanks to Genesis' new form, it did stop his frenzied slashing for the moment.
"Listen up, asshole, you're not trashing the only memory of my parents I still have left," Nick growled, his psychic aura exploding to life around him. "I hope you're ready for your lumps."
"Come to your death, then!" Genesis laughed as all five spies charged to attack Genesis.
"We will be saying the same to YOU!" Nick snarled. "You crossed a line that wasn't meant to be crossed!"
"That's bad news for you, period!" Nozomi emphasized.
"When you cross a line concerning Nick, you better say good-bye to YOUR own life!" Dawn remarked.
May immediately drew first blood by hurling her anchor at Genesis; Nick got in the fray for a team-up by using his time freeze power to make Genesis dormant in his position. He then took to the sky to guarantee Genesis would be hit, and then undid the time freeze.
"Ha ha!" Genesis sneered and blocked May's anchor throw.
However, his gloating stopped right away as Nick bellowed "SHORYUKEN!" and gave Genesis an airborne kick, which caused him to go tumbling backwards.
"Call THAT just a prelude," Nick remarked.
Nozomi and Dawn teamed up this time to go after Genesis, but Genesis was able to shoot ammo at them to force them to abort their team-up.
"I didn't think we needed a plan B," Dawn told Nozomi.
"I have my plan B myself," Haruka pointed out.
"Ok, Haruka, you got the lead," Alex stated.
"Call this your swan song," Genesis growled.
"Oh, we'll see about that, shall we?" Haruka chuckled as she charged for Genesis.
"Heading straight into your death, are you?!" Genesis laughed as he prepared to slash her in twain with his blade arms...
...only for him to be unable to move his arms all of a sudden, courtesy of Nozomi and Alex both lassoing his wrists with their Expandable Cable Bungee Belt and holding him there.
"Kick his face in, Haruka!" Nozomi shouted.
Haruka obliged, leaping into the air and aiming an Electromagnetic Curling Iron right for Genesis' face.
"This is for my dog, you bastard," Haruka proclaimed as she blasted Genesis in the face, sending him crashing to the ground.
"And this is for what you did to Kevin!" Nick shouted as he flew into the air and came down with a powerful stomp to Genesis' chest.
"Who's calling a swan song now?!" Alex proclaimed.
"NOOOO!" Genesis screamed that his plan had gone kaput.
"What'd we tell ya?!" Nozomi exclaimed.
Genesis tried to get away, but May would not have any of it.
"Not so fast, buddy boy!" May exclaimed and hurled her anchor once more, hitting Genesis in the back.
"Direct hit!" Alex exclaimed.
The Genesis clone then lay there motionless, but moments later, Genesis stirred like he had just been concussed.
"Well, one down, one enemy to go," Haruka quipped.
Meanwhile...
"Hopefully Alex and the others are having better luck than we are..." Clover groaned.
Macker had unleashed another army of clones to go after the spies.
"There's too many!" Bridget exclaimed.
"Exactly..." Macker sneered before he felt a psychic shot hit him directly.
"What was that, Macker?" Nick taunted as he, Alex, May, Nozomi and Haruka rejoined the battle. "And look, you're recycling old plans again. Should have figured."
"I'm not finished with you yet!" Macker shouted, preparing to activate the Eclipse Cannon so it would fire at Nick.
Nick wasn't in any mood for that, however, and fired a Final Shine Attack into the barrel of the Eclipse Cannon, destroying it rather handily.
"Actually, yes you are," Nick retorted as he took advantage of Macker gawking at the destroyed cannon to seal him and his clone army in psychic bubbles. "So go and think about your failures in your nice, cozy jail cell."
Having said what needed to be said, Nick flicked his hand upwards to send the bubbled baddies off to containment.
"And that should be that, right?" Sam wondered.
"Looks that way, thankfully," Dawn quipped.
"I'll guide the platform away from the area, so don't worry about that," RiCO stated from Nick's X-Powder. "You can all come back to headquarters now."
Before the spies could do that, however, an explosion from far away caught their attention.
"Oh, wonderful, did he have a backup plan or something?!" Clover groaned.
Nick, however, was immediately on edge, as he'd just realized something that troubled him.
"Hey, um, so, what exactly is that thing?" Melissa asked, pointing to a figure leaping across the nearby rooftops. "That doesn't look like Momo, so..."
Cursing his haste in his head, Nick spun around just in time to project a psychic barrier in front of Alex as Genesis, still in his mutated golem form, swiped his blade arms at her. Thankfully, the strike bounced off of the barrier.
"Who's this barf-inducer?!" Britney gasped.
"That's Genesis," Nick responded. "He injected himself with his mutation serum and turned into... well, that."
"Damn it all, I knew I should have gone for the head!" May shouted.
"Your mistake," Genesis cackled.
"And what, pray tell, was that explosion from earlier?" Sortiliena countered.
"You really shouldn't have left me unattended without double tapping, you know," Genesis chuckled. "I'd say that you no longer have a home to go back to, but I guess you've figured that out by now."
Genesis bent back before springing towards Nick. "And now, you die!"
In response, Nick swerved to the right, grabbed Genesis by the wrist, and tossed him downwards, following him back to the ground so he could stomp on his chest again.
"I warned you, Genesis," Nick growled. "I freakin' warned you."
"Should have made sure, boy," Genesis quipped as he hopped back to his feet.
"Oh, this time I'm definitely making sure," Nick responded.
Genesis prepared to charge again, only to be interrupted by May's anchor slamming into the back of his head from above, dazing him long enough for the rest of the spies to rejoin the battle.
"I hope you're ready to eat anchor, you punk," May proclaimed.
"You're all just more fodder for my experiments, as far as I care!" Genesis laughed as he went back on the offensive, twirling around with grace and agility that clearly belied what he'd turned into, swinging his blade arms around in multiple different directions to prevent the spies from getting any closer.
"Someone's gotta get him to stop flipping around like a monkey!" Blaine shouted.
"Duly noted," Mat quipped as he brought out a tube of Immobilizing Stun-Tan Lotion, waited for an opening in Genesis' wild swinging, and fired, just barely managing to squeak the shot through and stun Genesis into immobility. "All right, bro, wail on him."
"With pleasure," Nick proclaimed as he flew forward to attack Genesis with everything he had.
After a bit of this, Nick grabbed Genesis and sent him flying through the air, before catching him in his psychic hold and flying them both back towards his old house, with the other spies following.
When they reached what was left of the house (which sadly wasn't much), Nick fired a Final Shine Attack into Genesis' chest that sent him careening back to the ground. Nick wasted no time following, kicking Genesis in the chest again before grabbing the anti-mutation serum from his Jetpack Backpack and swiftly injecting it into Genesis' neck, probably the least-armored spot on his current form.
It took a little longer than expected, but Genesis did return to his normal self.
"Well, well, you lose again," Nick quipped.
"But my evil legacy lives on," Genesis laughed. "Your old home is nothing but rubble now, and I will continue to haunt you for the rest of your life."
"Um, sorry to cut in, but... what's happening to him?" Sortiliena wondered when she noticed that Genesis' body was acting a little strange, almost as if it was melting.
"His clone body must not be able to keep itself together after all that mutation serum he used on himself," Sam stated. "And the anti-serum that Nick used on him must be counteracting that, and it's causing his body to fall apart."
"Then allow me to finish the job," Nick proclaimed, forming a psychic blade on his right hand.
"You wouldn't dare, boy," Genesis taunted, trying to save face. "I thought the heroes don't kill?"
"Yeah, well, Professor Genesis is already dead, thank you very much," Nick retorted. "And you're nothing more than a perversion of nature, as always."
Genesis tried to back away, but with his clone body failing on him, it was very difficult to do so. Nick simply advanced on Genesis, his eyes telling the mad scientist everything he needed to know about Nick's intent.
"So, how about you go back to your grave and stay there?" Nick proclaimed, lunging forward with a single slash from his psychic blade.
Genesis' body could take no more, melting and collapsing into a puddle of green goop that Nick swiftly obliterated with a Final Shine Attack.
"There," Nick quipped. "Now stay dead this time."
Nick took one last look at the remains of his old house before turning around and taking off into the sky for W.O.O.H.P. Headquarters, the rest of the spies following soon after.
9:03 P.M. – W.O.O.H.P. Headquarters
Jerry's Office
"Marvelous work as always, everyone," Jerry proclaimed once everyone had returned to headquarters. "Macker is safely in containment once again."
"Um, if you don't mind me asking, what happened to Professor Genesis?" RiCO asked. "I didn't see him inside the bubbles, so..."
"He's gone," May responded. "His clone body started falling apart after a combination of the mutation serum he used to turn himself into that golem thing and the anti-serum I used to turn him back to normal. So, Nick basically put an end to that problem himself."
"Yeah, it sounds like you've been through a lot today, huh?" RiCO answered.
"I just hope he stays dead this time, like he should have," Nick quipped.
"All right-y, then, I'll send you all back home so you can have some relaxation time that you definitely seem like you need," RiCO stated, waving her hand to send the thirteen spies back to the beach house, with Sortiliena jumping in after them like she'd said she would.
10:00 A.M. – The Spies' Beach House
One Day Later
After dinner and a night's sleep, the spies resumed their summertime fun. As expected, they were at the pool again.
"PIRATE DIVE!" May screamed again.
That was becoming a norm around the beach house or at their Mali-U penthouse.
On top of that, May had pirate dived on top of someone... this time it was Sam.
"Ow!" Sam exclaimed. "That hurt!"
She was squeezing her shoulder with one hand, then switched hands from the impact. Mat came swimming to her to alleviate some of the pain.
"Sorry not sorry?" May nervously stated.
"May, I hope you don't pirate dive on top of the wrong person soon," Haruka replied as a "fair warning."
"You know how random I can be," May giggled. "You just have to keep an eye on EEP"
May couldn't finish her sentence because she was pulled underwater; Mat had resurfaced holding May by her ankles.
"Are you taking a page out of my book, bro?" Nick laughed.
"Possibly," Mat replied. "But after hearing Haruka say 'fair warning,' this gave me the idea if she pirate dives on me..."
"Oh wow," Bridget giggled.
Melissa, who had been pirate dived on by May earlier, came to Mat as well.
"Can I do something, too, Mat?" Melissa wondered.
"Be my guest, but make it quick because I don't want May to drown," Mat answered.
Melissa obliged while Alex checked on May underwater. That was when Melissa tickled the bottoms of May's feet, which caused May to kick her feet a bit, and Mat immediately let her go.
"That was dirty, Melissa," May sputtered.
"You play with fire, you'll get burned," Britney quipped to May as if to borrow something Mat normally said.
Mat couldn't help but chuckle until he let out a surprised yelp as Nick raised his hand, then snapped it down to psychically dunk Mat.
"And that's what you get for forgetting the big rule," Nick chuckled.
"You guys ARE a bunch of cards off the missions," Sortiliena giggled, twirling around to show off her aqua-blue two piece swimsuit in the process.
"That's definitely true," Dawn chuckled.
"You could say that," Alex added.
"Care to show us your fun side, Sortiliena?" Blaine offered.
"I thought you'd never ask," Sortiliena chuckled as she dove into the water before swimming around and waving to the spies, challenging one of them to try and catch her.
Alex, being the best swimmer of the spies by far, accepted that challenge and went underwater to chase after Sortiliena, but the combat instructor was too swift for even her, gracefully weaving through Alex's attempts to catch her.
Eventually, Sortiliena surfaced to the surprise of the rest of the spies.
"Holy crapbaskets, Sortiliena, you're an amazing swimmer!" Bridget laughed.
"In my line of work, you've really gotta expect a lot of things," Sortiliena quipped. "I've even had to teach a few classes about underwater combat. After all, you never know when you'll need to..."
Sortiliena was interrupted when a wave drenched her from behind. She slowly turned towards Melissa, who seemed to be the obvious culprit.
"...um... Dawn did it?" Melissa quipped.
"Why is it always my fault, you traitor?!" Dawn sputtered.
In response, Sortiliena simply winked before drawing her hands back, then clapping them together to drench both Melissa and Dawn with a shockwave of water.
"That's what you get," Sortiliena giggled.
"Oh, it is on now!" May proclaimed as she jumped in to join the water battle that had just erupted.
5:56 P.M. – Kedaro Station, Cordelion
"Man, it looks even bigger than the one I know," Ashley quipped as she approached Kedaro Station. "I hope that means there really is a Rubicon Forge here."
"We'll have to head inside to be sure," Glitch stated.
Ashley stopped in her tracks when she noticed a security checkpoint at what appeared to be the only entrance into the station.
"...crapbaskets," Ashley groaned. "That could be a problem."
"It's not a problem for me," Glitch chuckled as she went to work, displaying a holographic image of Ashley alongside what appeared to be a security pass for Kedaro Station. "If this one you use for our Kedaro Station still works, it should get you in."
"Here's hoping," Ashley replied as she walked through the security checkpoint, showing off the holo-ID Glitch had brought up. The guards simply waved her through.
"...holy Fongoids, that actually worked," Ashley sighed in relief.
"See? I told ya it'd work!" Glitch giggled.
"Never doubted you for a second, Glitch," Ashley answered. "I'm just trying to err on the side of caution, since this technically isn't our Kedaro Station. ...I'm just hoping this means we're closer to our goal."
"Let's head on inside the station and find out, shall we?" Glitch replied.
Making sure to keep a tight grip on her weapon transfer device just in case things went south, Ashley walked through the main access tunnel and into Kedaro Station, which she noted look at least slightly more advanced than the one she knew.
Hopefully that was a good sign, as it meant it wouldn't be that much trouble to rebuild the Dimensionator so she could save all of reality before it was too late.
Totally Spies: A Clone of My Own
~The End~
Final Note from Mat49324: Well, that's all for A Clone of My Own. We hope you enjoyed this one. Plus, you also get to see what Sortiliena is like away from battle for a change. Anyway, we hope you'll stay tuned for our next project, which will be on my page. That is going to include quite a bit of public violence when it comes to celebrities at a hotel. That's right, if you put two and two together, that means that Captain Hayes is going to be coming back, but we're having another enemy join the fray as well. You'll have to figure out who that will be if you want to guess, but I may have given a clue saying "violence." Anyway, I've titled it Melee on Vacay, and here's The Blue Time Ranger for his final thoughts.
Final Note from The Blue Time Ranger: Mad science is put to rest for now, so that's a wrap on this one! Ever since the end of The Forgotten Land, I'm sure a lot of people were wondering if Professor Genesis would stay down after what happened to him. I planned for him to stay gone, but as you know, ideas bit me and I decided to use a Phoenix Down on Genesis just this once. Will we ever see him again, maybe as a dimensional counterpart? ...I'll have to get back to you on that one.
With that out of the way, let's preview the next episode of Totally Spies: The New Adventures! This time around, we're colliding with a villain we haven't seen since TNA season 1, and he's got a bit of an oddball partner with him this time. Will the celebrities at this new hotel be able to survive the madness that is Captain Hayes? Find out next time on Melee on Vacay, which will be posted by Mat. So, until next time, have a fantastic day, don't listen to the screeching morons, enjoy this preview of Melee on Vacay, and we'll see you next mission!
"Wait, so where is this place again?" Nick wondered as Nozomi guided the thirteen spies through downtown Beverly Hills.
"It's just down Fifth Street!" Nozomi responded.
When they finally reached the place that Nozomi had been talking about, the spies couldn't help but be awed at the sight of the building in front of them.
"That's actually pretty glamorous, holy crapbaskets," Alex quipped.
"Yeah, it's been something they've been building here for a while, and they finally finished it about a month ago," Nozomi explained, gesturing towards the Into the Night Hotel in front of them. "Basically, they wanted to find a way to put the old Beverly Hills Hotel to shame."
"And it looks like it worked," Dawn chuckled.
"I kinda wish our one time at the Beverly Hills Hotel hadn't gotten ruined by Captain Hayes," Clover sighed. "His creep-o face was the one thing I didn't want to remember..."
"Even if it did have some upsides," May quipped as she scooted closer to Nick and smiled at him, remembering that the old hotel was where she'd finally confessed her own feelings for Nick.
As the spies discussed that particular mission, Nick suddenly tensed up in his spot.
"Is something wrong, Nick?" May wondered.
"I don't know exactly what happened, but I just picked up what sounds like a very heated argument coming from somewhere inside that hotel," Nick stated.
"...oh, lordy, you don't think..." Alex quipped, feeling a very strange case of déjà vu.
"Oh, it looks like you're already here," Jerry called out as his chopper approached the spies. "That means we can skip a few steps."
"Oh, what's up, Jerry?" Sam asked. "Is there another baddie on the loose?"
"And is he a certain celebrity-worshipping psycho that we haven't dealt with in a while?" Melissa quipped.
"You'd be right on both counts," RiCO responded, materializing inside the chopper so she could activate the viewscreen and show a mugshot of Captain Hayes.
"Whatever he's planning, it definitely can't be anything good," Mat stated.
"I've already got your gadgets loaded up and ready for you, so you just need to head inside the hotel and see what exactly the 'good' captain is up to," RiCO proclaimed.
To be continued in Totally Spies: Melee on Vacay...
