What, What are Those?
I hope this is good, I will try to make it a bit longer then most of my Percy Jackson one shots but we'll see.
Annabeth was at school and it was time for gym class. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, normally Annabeth could change in the toilets and no one would see, but today the toilets that they were allowed to use to get changed in were out of order. Although all the other girls in Annabeth's gym class were complaining about it they didn't really care. To them it was just another stupid excuse to complain about the school. Annabeth on the other hand while actually quite concerned about it, wasn't complaining at all (or at least out load), the last thing Annabeth wanted was for people to se her scars. You see, Annabeth was was demigod, and not only that she was one of the most powerful demigods ever. Annabeth had been fighting monsters since she was seven years old and had, over the year, collected quite a lot of scars. These scars where not however just little white lines like most scars, most of them where long, and jagged, and an angry red colour (although there was one on her shoulder that was tinged green from a poisoned knife). These scars were the reason that whatever the weather (when she wasn't at camp) Annabeth wore high necked longe sleeved t-shirts and trousers, she didn't want anyone asking about her scars. But today Annabeth would have to get changed in the locker room, with all the other girls, and nothing to stop them seeing all of her scars.
When she got to the locker room (before anyone else got there) Annabeth plopped her bag down on the bench and started changing, hoping that maybe she could change before anyone else could come in. Somehow she did but she didn't notice Regina Smith stealing her t-shirt and hiding it.
Gym went well enough, there was nothing that Annabeth struggled with and she was just getting changed when she went to grab her t-shirt and found that it wasn't there. It was at that point that Regina popped up behind her and said all fake smiles and a sickly sweet tone"Oh, have I got someone's t-shirt, I am sorry . Is this yours?" Regina held up Annabeth's t-shirt and without thinking Annaberth spin around to grab the shirt.
Had Annabeth paused for a second to think, she would have remembered that her hair was covering the scars on her back but that there was nothing to stop everyone in her class from seeing the scars on her front if she turned around.
Regina started to crow, and then she saw Annabeth's scars and froze saying "What, what are those?" In a timid voice, pointing at an ugly red scar that crisscrossed Annabeth's stomach.
"These are called scars, could I have my shirt back?" Annabeth said, her arms crossed which unknown to her highlighted the green scar on her shoulder.
Regina looked terrified, and handed Annabeth the shirt (which she promptly put on) before turning the other way and going to talk to her friends. Annabeth and her friend Caddy walked out of school (it was the end of the day) and when they got to Starbucks and where out of earshot of anyone from school Caddy started pestering her.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Annabeth said, deliberately avoiding the question.
"You know what I meant, the scars, is everything alright at home?"
"Caddy, you know full well that my parents are in San Francisco and that I live by myself in an apartment."
"What about your boy…,"
A look of pure anger crossed Annabeths face and she said "Don't you dare even finish that sentence, Percy would never hurt me, besides he lives on the other side of New York, we hardly get to se each other. Why are you making such a fuss about a few scars, I know for a fact that you have a scar on you knee from falling out of a tree when you where nine, it isn't a big deal!"
Of course, Annaberg knew exactly why Caddy was fussing. Scars like the one she had weren't exactly common, but Annaberg couldn't exactly tell her that reason she had the scars was because she was a demigod daughter of Athena and that she had been fighting monsters since she was seven, could she?
I hope that was long enough, I enjoyed writing it, constructive criticism welcome. Have a nice day.
Pineapple.
