Chapter 2: Training the Monsters

The week passed fast, and Sengoku arrived at the island to begin the training of Monkey D. Luffy. Ace, and Sabo. Their training will be painful it will be brutal. And they will struggle with it at times. But in the end, they will become stronger for it.

I have always wondered what would happen to the user of mythical zoan fruits that had more than one head, so I've decided to create a little side effect for the first time.

Dawn Island
Sengoku was currently riding on a Marine cruiser to the island that Garp is staying on. As he the cruiser gets closer and closer to the island, all Sengoku can think about his how much of a pain this is going to be. And entire year training three children that have mythical zoan devil fruit powers. How to properly use those powers, and train them on how to use Haki. It is giving him a headache just thinking about everything he's going to have to do. Let alone that each of the three children plan to become pirates when they are old enough. But there is little that he can do when it comes to making sure that anyone. Let alone children who have devil fruit powers, and don't know how to use them run wild on a peaceful island. Then he needs to step in to help them control those powers, or something bad could happen.

Once the ship docked at the island, Sengoku jumped off the ship. Then ordered it to head back to the marine base and come pick him up in one year. The soldiers fallowed his orders and left, leaving their head admiral alone on the dock. But he wouldn't be alone for long, because Garp was currently walking up to Sengoku while wearing his civilian attire and eating rice crackers.

"Hey Sengoku. It's been a while since we've seen each other. I hope that the trip has been kind to you." Garp said as he continued to munch on his crackers. But the only response that he was given from his head admiral was a grunt of anger. Then he turns around and started to walk past Garp, and head to were Garp's grandson and his brothers are staying

Dadan's house
Luffy, Sabo, and Ace were all running around trying to catch each other for three hours. Garp told them to play tag while he was gone, but it was a way for them train their endurance and stamina. They would have kept playing but they stopped when Sabo pointed out that Garp was back. And he brought a friend along with him. The three boys could tell that the man with Garp was not happy to be here. Because of the scowl on his face, but Garp said that he was bringing someone here to train them. So, this scowling man must be who he was talking about.

As the two men approached the three boys lined up together to show respect, like Garp taught them. To show respect to their new teacher. Once the two men were in front of the boys, the man wearing a hat got a good look at them. He looked at how each of the boys were standing straight, but how they were all grinning at him. Seeing them all like this made Sengoku wonder what kind of training he already put them through.

"Alright then you three, from what Garp has told me, all three of you has a mythical devil fruit power. On the way here he told me about everything and what each of you can do. So, what's going to happen is this. Each day in the morning we are going to work on your transformations. You'll only be completed with that when all three of you can transform without any difficulty. Then after you three completed that, we can start working on properly training your elemental abilities. Then in the afternoon we'll work on ability known as Haki." Sengoku explained to the boys.

Luffy was the first one to raise his hand. Sengoku pointed at Luffy and nodded his head. "I understand that your here to train us to master our powers. But what exactly is Haki, we've never heard about something like that before."

Sengoku looked at Garp who just rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment since he was supposed to explain to them what Haki is. So, Sengoku started to explain what Haki was, and what it can do.

"There are three types of Haki. Armament, Observation, and Conquerors Haki. However only one in a million people can use Conquerors Haki. While most people can use Observation and Armament Haki. Armament Haki coats your body in a type of invisible armor. Making it very difficult for someone to harm you but makes it easy for you to harm them. Armament Haki even allows you to harm Logia type devil fruit users. You can even coat weapons in Armament Haki to make more durable and more powerful. Observation Haki allows you to sense a person's presents and what they plan to do. Allowing you to predict and dodge their attacks. There are advanced versions of all three types of Haki. But we'll wait till you have mastered the basics before we start the advanced stuff. I am one of those one in a million people. So were going to speed up your Haki training by drawing it out with my Conquerors Haki. That way we can focus on your Devil fruit transformations first. As long as you three don't fall unconscious then you'll be fine." Sengoku finished his explanation and took a defensive stance.

The three boys took their own defensive positions and waited for him to attack. But an attack never came, at least not the kind of attack they were expecting. Instead, a wave of pressure started to wash over them. A pressure that they have never felt before in their short lives. They could tell it was coming from Sengoku because they couldn't stop looking at him. The pressure was starting to cause their bodies to collapse and make them fall to the ground. However, before they could fall, Luffy and Ace both looked right at Sengoku and resisted his powers. They screamed out loud and felt their own spirits pushing back against his.

Sengoku easily took notice that Luffy and Ace's spirits were pushing back against his. This put a small smile on his face, as he thought 'Maybe this won't be as boring as I thought it was going to be.' After that Sengoku stopped using his conquerors Haki and relaxed. Allowing the pressure that the boys were feeling to be lifted and allowing them to breathe again.

Sengoku turned to Garp with his small smile. "Did you notice that Garp? That Luffy and Ace's own spirits were pushing back against mine?"

Garp was a little surprised but also smiled. "Yup. This training is going to be interesting. I can't wait to see how strong all three of them become."

Once all three of the boys got their breaths back. Sengoku began to explain to them what happened. "What you three just felt was a small fraction of my own Conquerors Haki. And to my surprise. both Luffy and Ace here have conquerors Haki just like I do. Did you both notice that your spirits were pushing back against mine?"

Luffy and Ace looked at each other for a moment and then back at Sengoku nodding their heads. "Good. Now understand that your Haki won't just appear right away. You're going to have to meditate and exercise vigorously to make it appear. But before we do that, were going to start on your transformations. So, all three of you line upside by side, so we can start training."

The three boys lined up like they were told, but Sabo looked depressed for some reason. Garp noticed this and could easily tell what it was about. "Listen Sabo. I can tell by that frown that your sad that you're not a conqueror. But know that being a conqueror doesn't make you all powerful. I've fought a few of them in my day, including Sengoku here. And I've won a few times. It wasn't easy but I was able to beat them. So, chin up kid, you still have potential to be just as strong as your brothers."

Hearing that Sabo's eyes widened and smiled. His determination was relit, and a smile came back to his face.

"Alright. First were going to start with your hybrid transformation. That transformation is a mixture of your human and animal form. Where you have both strong durability and dexterity. The only downside is that you don't have all the raw power as your full transformation. And will only be using about half of its full power. But it's still strong in its own right. So, watch me and pay close attention." Sengoku said as he began to go into his hybrid form. His entire body began to glow in a golden hue, and he started to grow. After a few seconds, Sengoku was twelve feet tall, his body was completely golden, and his hands were the size of watermelons.

Seeing that made the boys eyes widen in awe and amazement. "Now boys I want you to all focus on your hybrid forms. The way it works is your imagen your half yourself and half whatever your animal is. But only when you have a clear picture of what your hybrid form is. You can't just force it to happen, you need to have a calm mind and focus. So, start focusing on what your hybrid forms will look like, and your body will start to take shape." Sengoku finished explaining as he went back to his normal human form.

Understand what their teacher meant, all three of the boys closed their eyes and started to imagine their hybrid forms. At first nothing happened, as to be expected from those starting to train their powers. However, after a little while, each of the boys forms started to change a little bit. Ace's body started to become covered in gold and black fur, a pair of dragon wings started to sprout of his back and his face started to elongate and become more cat like while two other heads started to appear one being the head of a dragon and the other of a goat. Luffy's body started to become covered in black fur while his face also started to elongated to become wolf like while two heads similar to his appear by the neck zone and a snake started to grow as tail for him. And Sabo's body started to become covered in feathers while part of his face started to elongate until becoming the beak of a bird of prey and a pair of eagle's wings appear on his back.

After a few more seconds the boys were now completely hybridized. Ace was now a half human half chimera, Luffy was now a half human half Cerberus. and Sabo was now a half human and half eagle. They felt their bodies stop transforming and looked at themselves. All three boys were amazed at what they saw. Their bodies look like a mix between themselves and animal that their fruits are named after.

Sengoku can see that all three of the boys are happy, but the training needs to continue. "Alright boys. Now that you have managed to transform into your hybrid forms, were going to do it again. And were going to keep doing it until all three of you can transform in under three seconds. Because your enemies aren't going to wait around until you transform. They will attack at any opportunity that they see. So, until that happens transforming will what we will be training each morning. And every afternoon is Haki training."

The boys looked at their teacher with determined looks on their faces and got to work.

Next week
For an entire week the boys would wake up at seven in the morning, eat breakfast. Then get straight to training their transformations, then in the afternoon they would start training on their Haki. It wasn't easy, but by the end of the week all three of the boys could transform into their hybrid forms in just three seconds or less. And they were starting to get a handle on their Haki abilities. They were starting to finally grasp their powers although Ace and Luffy had a more difficult time transforming because having the powers of multi-cephalic creatures did pay a toll on the young boys that being the case that after transforming back into human they would have a terrible headache that would split their heads for a while but after some practice the pain reduce.

However, that wasn't going to be the end of it. No Sengoku was here to make sure that these three boys could fully master their devil fruits and Haki. So once the boys had full mastery over transforming into their hybrid forms, he had them start right away on their full beast forms. He explained to them very carefully that their full beast forms would be difficult to control at first. Unlike their hybrid forms, their full beast forms were full raw power. All of their abilities would be fully unlocked, and all of their power could be released. If they weren't careful then they could hurt themselves and everyone around them. So, they would have to take this very seriously. Just by hearing how serious Sengoku was about this. The boys made sure to pay extra close attention, because they didn't want any of their friends to get hurt.

Sengoku showed them, by transforming into his final form the great golden Buda. A giant golden creature that was as big as a sea king. Just seeing the size of their teacher's transformation was enough to send them into awe. But what he did next made them slack jawed. He used his bare hands to create a massive shockwave that leveled a mountain. Causing tremors to be felt all over the island. This caused the residences to become frightened and hid in their homes for the rest of the day.

Now understanding the full ramifications of such a power, the boys promised to take their training as serious as possible, and not mess up. Glad to see the boys taking everything seriously Sengoku got to work, training them right away. And it wasn't easy.

Sengoku explained to them that they didn't have to go into their hybrid form before becoming their full beast form. They can simply go right into the beast form right away, but that would take time. And transforming right into their beast form and not the hybrid forms was not easy. The boys would often take their hybrid forms by mistake, and not their full beast form. Which caused them to become extremely frustrated at how they kept failing like that.

But thankfully Sengoku and Garp were able to calm them down and gave them some pointers on what they needed to do. Unlike their hybrid forms, they needed to imagine themselves as total beasts. Not half human and half animal, but full-fledged beasts with immense power. The boys calmed down and took what Sengoku said to heart. They imagined themselves as full beasts, no human features whatsoever. Just animals ready to fight and defeat anyone who was in front of them

It took some time, but they eventually managed to transform right into their beast forms. Luffy transformed into a ten-foot tall black furred and red eyed three headed wolf that even though he was bigger than a normal adult wolf he looked more like a cub. Ace would transform into a ten-foot tall red, golden and black furred chimera. While Sabo would transform into a ten-foot tall black and yellow feathered bald eagle. And once they got that down, the next step was to have them seamlessly transform between their human form, hybrid form, and their beast forms seamlessly. To many that would sound difficult, but now that they had a handle on their different forms. They would be able to transform from human, to hybrid, to full beast, in just under five seconds.

Sengoku had them transform from human, hybrid, and beast. By yelling out which forms the boys would take. If yelled out human, they would become human. If he yelled out hybrid they would become hybrid, if he yelled out beast, they would become a beast. It might sound easy, but he would always trick them up if he could. Causing the boys to lose focus and transform into the wrong form if they didn't pay attention. And the punishment was an armament Haki infused punch from Garp.

But that didn't stop them. The boys would continue to train and train until they couldn't train no more. And all of that was done in just one month, showing that all three of the boys have great potential to master all of their powers and abilities.

Second month
When the second month of training had come around, Sengoku had the boys focus entirely on Haki. Every day he would have them use Haki in different ways. They would use observation Haki to detect the different animals in the forest around them. Dodge any and all attacks that he and Garp sent at them. Or to find their way from the forest back to the house completely blindfolded. And they couldn't fight any animals, if they did they would have to start over again.

When they were training with armament Haki, he had them fight against the biggest animals in the forest. It was mostly bears that they were fighting, but that didn't mean that it was easy. If their armament Haki faltered for even a second, they could be torn to shreds. But that didn't stop them from fighting the bears when they were told to. They would even infuse their Armament Haki with sticks and fight Sengoku with them.

As for training in conquerors Haki, Sengoku simply told Luffy and Ace that the only way to train with the basic form of conquerors Haki was to use it against powerful enemies. It's true that conquerors Haki could do more than that. But only by bashing their fighting spirit against other enemies was it every going to become stronger. Same can be said for the other Haki types. Only in combat does Haki become sharper and more refined.

So, the boys would use all that they were told about against the animals in the forest. Against one another and against Garp and Sengoku when they were training. It was some of the hardest training that they had ever done. Even more then their devil fruit transformation training. But the pain showed that they had much to learn and that they were improving bit by bit each day.

And at the end of the month, the boys were able to switch between all three forms at once in just three seconds. Now they will be able to start training on the elemental part of their devil fruit's powers. And how use them for different techniques.

Third month

Now that the boys have mastered the basics of their devil fruits, it was time for them to learn how to manipulate the elemental powers that they each possess. Sengoku started by having each boy hold out their right hand and focus each of their elements to appear in the center of their palms. As a way of basic shape training for their elemental abilities. If they can form a sphere in the palm of their hands in three seconds, then they could start working a real attack. The boys did as they were told and tried to focus their elemental powers into the palm of their hands. The first time around it took them three minutes to form a sphere of their own element in the palm of their hands.

Luffy had a small sphere of darkness. Ace had a small sphere of fire. And Sabo had a small sphere of blue fire in his palm. Once they did that, they were told to do it again, and continue to do it until the time was at three seconds. So that it was they did for the rest of the day. They continuously formed spheres of their elements in their palms nonstop. It wasn't until the middle of the afternoon did the boys finally able to create the sphere in just three seconds. After that Sengoku told them that they were to start creating multiple spheres.

But Luffy was confused at the point of this. So, Sengoku explained to him the best that he could. "The point of this is to harness the basics of your powers, before we get into the advanced forms. I know that just making spheres of your elements isn't all that exiting. However, if you can master the basics of anything, then it will make it easier to learn the advanced form. You need to start with the small things, before moving on to larger things. Imagine that you can create a sword made from your element, but because you didn't learn the fundamentals you weren't able to make that sword as strong as you wanted. It would just break and snap like a twig the first second you used it. Only by training on basic shapes and constructs are you able to make more complex things better."

The boys had a hard time understanding at first, but after they let it sink in, they were able to understand. If they couldn't form a simple sphere in just three seconds. What hope did they have of making a giant weapon, or a powerful shield? What would they be able to do if everything they made just fell apart, because they couldn't hold the shape? After those thoughts went through their heads, they got back to work making a small sphere. And multiple small spheres around them. And by the end of the week, all three of the boys were able to make multiple small spheres with no problem at all. It may of took a while, but they were able to get it down with ease.

During the second week of the month, Sengoku told them that they could use this week to rest. Because after this week they were going to start creating attacks from their elements, and once they mastered their attacks. They would learn to infuse Haki with their attacks to make them even more powerful. So, the boys were currently running through the streets of the town. As a way to exercise and have fun, from time to time they would go to Makino's bar to eat, hang out with her and even help her to get ridden of some bothersome clients Makino started to take care of the boys after the training done by Garp and Sengoku treating their injuries, telling them stories to sleep, making new clothes for them among other thing becoming a mother to them.

Fourth month

upon the fourth month of trading Garp and Sengoku had taught the boys about advanced armament Haki and how it works. Where they can infuse their armament Haki into weapons to make them more powerful and make them black weapons. Or they can use advanced armament Haki to create an invisible armor around themselves. They can even use their advanced armament Haki to attack an enemy from the inside out. That is called internal destruction, and it's extremely powerful.

And it was thanks to that advice the three boys were able to get a head start on their next phase of their training. Where they would start learning how to use advanced armament Haki. Sengoku explained to them that they needed to use the Haki that surrounds them and turn it into a powerful shield or weapon. He gave them an example by destroying a tree without even touching it. The boys were amazed by the attack and got right to work leaning the attack.

so the training consisted on hitting various objects without touching them so get the idea of advance armament Haki once they did they boys will move to bigger objects like stones or trees to practice the internal destruction until they could destroy any objects without the need to use brute strength

Sengoku watched the boys train and saw that they were really getting into it and become better as time went by. "Yes, it does Garp. Even if these boys do become pirates. I can at least say that I'm proud that I was able to train them. Even if one of them does become the Pirate king, I will still be glad. Because I was the one that trained them."

"I guess that's the best that we can hope for. At least these boys were the ones with those mythical devil fruits. But there's just something that is bugging me about the names of those devil fruits. I can't help that I know those names from somewhere." Garp continued to eat his rice crackers as thought about where those names came from.

But while Garp may not know, Sengoku decided to enlighten him to the truth. "It's because there not public knowledge. Over one hundred years ago, there were three brothers found those devil fruits. The oldest ate the chimera devil fruit, the middle child ate the eagle devil fruit, while the youngest ate the Cerberus devil fruit. Those three brothers became known as the Mythical Zoan Gods three of many. And they each became extremely powerful in their own right. With the oldest becoming a powerful warrior. The middle becoming a deadly military leader with no equal. While the youngest becoming a former emperor of the sea and king of his own country. In the end they were all very powerful and when they passed away. Their devil fruits were sought after by everyone who knew about them. But no one could ever find the fruits. So, a legend was made saying that the fruits would only appear in front of three brothers that were just like the original three that held those devil fruits. And I suppose that the legend was true, here before us are three brothers just like the former ones. A new generation with the new Mythical Zoan Gods, and I can't wait to see what they can do." Sengoku looked at the three kids and smiled at how determined they were to become stronger.

Garp felt the same way and smiled at the three boys. Feeling nothing but grandfatherly love for all three of the boys.

Fifth month

With the next part of their training was having their Haki infuse with weapons to make them black blades. Luffy showed Sengoku and Garp the blueprints that he found, and they were impressed. So, they decided to make wooden carvings of the weapons that Luffy showed them. They gave Sabo the wooden wing sword. Ace the wooden axe. While Luffy was given the wooden Katana.

Their orders where to coat their new wooden weapons in armament Haki. Then to continuously swing the weapons to get a better grip of using their Haki in combat. As they trained all three boys began to understand how their weapons worked for themselves. Sabo understood that his sword is meant to for strong fast strikes that would be compare to fly of a bird. Ace understood that his axe is meant for heavy destructive hits. While luffy understood that his katana is meant for balanced slashes.

During this month they continued to train with their weapons in practice. And against each other when they fought either one on one, or a battle royal against each other. As they fought each other, their skills with their weapons became sharper.

And when they fought against Garp or Sengoku they would land one hit if they were lucky. But other than that, neither of the marines would get any damage from their sparing with the three boys

Sixth month
During this month they would train on their observation Haki. Sengoku would have the boys all be blindfolded for the entire day and have them walk their way back to the house without looking. Or have them fight one another while not being able to see. He told them this was the best way to night relay purely on sight. To many enemies would try and trick their eyes with illusions. Since some people have developed skills or have devil fruits that can create illusions. So, the only way to fight through them would be using observation Haki.

It wasn't easy at first. Especially since this training really always did tax their patience. Not being able to see where they were going. Or being able to see while fighting was very annoying to them. They just couldn't hit each other or prevent themselves from being hit very well. But they didn't complain that much. They just buckled down and got to work finding their way around the area and back home.

But by the end of the month, they were able to find their way around no matter what. They could sense where the animals where, and where they needed to go very easily. The training was ruff, but it was well worth it in the long run.

Eighth month
Since their training would be ending in four more months. Sengoku decided that this month would be nothing but Conquerors Haki training. That they would need to know everything that they could to use its basic form and its advanced form.

Sengoku was standing in front of the three boys in the middle of the clearing. As they were lined up shoulder to shoulder. With Garp behind Sengoku waiting for his signal. "Alright kids since we only have four months left. We're going to use this month to train you on using conquerors Haki. In its basic and advanced forms. Then the last four months will be focused on mastering your devil fruit powers. And learning how to combine Haki with your attacks. Understood?"

The three boys nodded their heads in unison ready for whatever will happen next.

"Alright boys listen closely and very carefully. I know that Sabo doesn't have conquerors Haki, but he will need to know this to. Luffy and Ace, I know that you two have been practicing your conquerors Haki on your own for some time now, which is good. But there is more to it than making people who are weaker than you faint. You can also coat yourself and your weapons in it. That ability is called Infusion, where you combine your conquerors Haki with your weapons and attacks. Now watch and learn boys." Sengoku took a stance with his palm held back, ready to thrust it into a tree.

But what they witnessed next surprised them. Sengoku thrusted his palm at the tree, and when it was only a few inches away the tree didn't break like they thought it would. The tree completely shattered into tiny pieces of wood and bark. As the pieces of the wood fell to the ground Sengoku stood back up and regained the boy's attention.

"You see boys. This attack doesn't just let you attack a target without making contact. It puts your very fighting spirit into the attack. Everything that you are and everything that makes you strong is in that attack. Sure, the attacks are augmented and are even more powerful. But they are only as powerful as your will to fight is. So never let your fighting spirit break. Or you will not be able to use that kind of power properly." Sengoku took up another stance and demonstrated once again what he can do.

The boys just continued to watch and soaked in everything that they could. Seeing these attacks firsthand was amazing, and they just wanted to keep learning and become as strong as possible.

So their eyes were completely focused on Sengoku and they didn't wonder at all. As they saw Sengoku use attack after attack, they were able to more easily understand how they can do it themselves.

Once Sengoku was done Luffy and Ace got to work doing it themselves. While Sabo got to work mastering advanced Armament Haki. Luffy and Ace didn't get it at first since they weren't sure how to do it. But as time went on, they managed to start coating themselves in conquerors Haki. They were able to shatter trees instead of just breaking them. And reduce boulders to tinny pebbles instead of just punching holes through them.

By the end of the month, both Luffy and Ace were able to easily coat themselves in conquerors Haki just like it was armament Haki.

Ninth-twelve month
With the last few months coming, the boys were now focused on forming attacks based off their devil fruits. Then combining those attacks with their Haki to make them stronger as well moving in beast form so that they could grew used to move in that forms because Sengoku taught them that in beast forms they have to move like the animals of the fruits so that will allow them to have better mobility upon assuming that form so Ace and Luffy learned to how move in the quadruped way and at the same time Ace and Sabo learn how to fly

Sabo was using his ash powers to create hell fire weapons that were so powerful. That they were still red hot as they were newly forge. When he struck his weapons against an object, it was like a flame that consumes everything. Some were blue flame daggers or blue flame swords. Then creating powerful projectiles that were so sharp they could puncture anything they were thrown at. Such as hell arrows or hell spears. He even started to create structures that were so dense that only Haki infused attacks could damage them.

Ace used his flame powers to make more powerful and destructive attacks. Flames that were powerful enough to incinerate anything that they touched. The heat from the flames were able to burn wood and flammable from several meters away. Even melting rocks just by touching them with his flaming palms. He could even make his flames as thin and sharp as a blade and slice through boulders like they were paper. Causing the objects to heat up like a gas-soaked cloth.

Luffy managed to use his darkness powers to shape and create different weapons and objects out of darkness. He would create large swords, spears, and axes and use them as projectile weapons. Or form simple shapes and make them expand and grow, making immovable objects. Or focusing his darkness element into objects, making them stronger and increasing their bluntness or sharpness. Even going as far to create attacks that can damage large areas at once. He also discover that with a little of imagination he could turn his darkness into dark light that was a light with dark purple colors as if it was a light that could only be found in hell which made his creations faster and stronger.

And when they weren't training, they would go to the large junk area to see what they could find of value. Or as practice weapons for when Luffy finishes forging their real ones. But that stopped when the nobles of the island set the garbage area on fire. They heard that a celestial dragon was coming to visit. So, to get rid of the commoners and the trash, they set it all a flame. The boys were devastated by what they saw, however they were surprised when they saw an enormous gust of wind split the fire and save many people's lives. They didn't understand what happened but was glad that people managed to flee to safety.

Month thirteen
Now that the year was over, and the boys were able to train on their own now. It was time for Sengoku to leave and head back to the navy base. The three boys wanted to see him off. But Sengoku told them that today was still a training day, so they couldn't fallow him. And if they did, he would use his own Zoan devil fruit powers to send them flying. Not wanting to make their teacher angry the boys didn't follow him and just continued to train.

But Garp decided to escort Sengoku back to the dock. To wait for his ship to come and pick him up. And as they walked down to the dock, Garp finally asked him the question that was bugging him all this time.

"So, Sengoku. Who do you think left those devil fruits in the mountain? I mean, the devil fruits are one thing. But finding a shack hidden within a cave filled with a working forge, blueprints and materials to make the weapons on said blueprints are kind of fishy."
