Dear Diary,
I can't believe that I woke up at 9:00 a.m . Today is such an important day for me, It is my duty to ensure that every student has successfully boarded the train, undertaking the task of confirming their presence. In addition, I must provide guidance to the prefects, instructing them on their assigned duties. Lastly, I am scheduled to meet the new head boy and engage in a discussion regarding the various activities planned for the year ahead.
As I carefully packed my trunk, a sudden awareness washed over me - six whole years had slipped away in the blink of an eye. It truly felt like just yesterday when Severus , arrived and unfolded the wonders of Hogwarts, leaving a mark on my memory.
" Lily, ready are we? " Said Mum waiting in the car. It seemed that she had also dragged Petunia along with her. I proceeded to place my Hogwarts trunk in the back of the car with utmost care.
As we made our way to King's Cross station, I decided to strike up a conversation with her. "So, everything alright with Vernon?" I asked, To my disappointment, she simply replied with a "Yeah." Well, I suppose that's fine by me. It's no secret that she's set to tie the knot in the next year or two, though I wouldn't expect to receive an invitation, of course. I can't understand why she fancies that lazy fellow.
As we reached the station, I took a moment to say my final goodbyes to Mum and Dad. Mum nudged Petunia, clearly hoping for a more heartfelt parting message, but all she managed was a simple "bye."
I quickly found an empty compartment and safely put away my trunk. Once I confirmed that all the students had boarded the train, I headed towards the prefect compartment. As I waited for the head boy to arrive, a sudden jolt of shock reverberated through me at the sight before my eyes: it was James Potter standing there.
"Lily Evans, fancy meeting you here," he greeted, a smug grin stretching across his face.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "Oh, Potter, it's hardly a surprise to see you on this train," I replied, my tone laced with sarcasm. " Is there any particular reason for your presence in the prefect compartment?"
James chuckled, "Well, as luck would have it, Lily, I've been appointed Head Boy this year."
My eyebrows shot up in disbelief. "Head boy? You?"
I was completely gobsmacked by the idea of James Potter being named Head Boy. I even briefly considered giving up my position as Head Girl. But I had no choice but to accept it. Professor McGonagall always had a soft spot for Potter, probably because of his incredible Quidditch skills (it is so hard to admit it). He's been the Quidditch captain for almost two years now, so it's no wonder his dumb face is going to be proud than ever .
Well, I kinda had a feeling that Remus wouldn't end up as the Head Boy. You see, back when he was a prefect, he never really bothered to take points away from his friends, (the Marauders, as they like to call themselves). And reporting them? Nah, Remus never did that either. He was all about turning a blind eye to their little pranks and adventures.
But despite my initial shock, I decided to go along with it. We (well, mostly me) took the time to explain the duties to the prefects, all he did was blankly stare at me throughout the whole session . Once I was done, I retreated to my compartment, hoping for some peace and quiet away from Potter. To my surprise, when I entered, I found Sirius, Remus, and Peter sitting there. Just as I was about to speak up, Potter appeared behind me and politely asked, "Evans, do you mind if we sit here?" It was the first time he had ever said anything polite to me. With no other place for them to go, I had no choice but to say yes. So I begrudgingly sat down next to Potter, armed with a book to read during the journey.
But I couldn't even read my book in peace as they were loudly debating the worst flavor of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. "It's definitely the bogie-flavored one," Potter exclaimed confidently, while Black vehemently argued for the spinach flavor. The noise was getting on my nerves.
"Quiet!" I finally snapped. Instantly, the compartment fell into silence.
"What's your problem?" Potter asked.
"I'm just trying to read a book here," I replied curtly.
"Well, you're no fun. Who reads a book on a train journey?" he quipped
Growing increasingly frustrated, I glared at Potter. "Some of us actually enjoy reading and crave a moment of peace," I snapped.
He chuckled, seemingly unfazed. "Fair enough," he conceded with a mischievous grin. "But you're missing out on the excitement of the journey. There's a whole world of adventure out there beyond the train window."
Raising an eyebrow, I countered, "Books can take you on adventures too, without the need for restless wanderings. "
"Evans, come on! It's our last year at Hogwarts, and life would be pretty dull without a bit of fun," he said, sounding a tad exasperated. "We might never be at Hogwarts again, so let's make the most of it."
"My life is fine without fun, thank you." I said.
As I settled back into my reading, Potter suddenly snatched my book away, leaving me both surprised and irritated. Before I could react, he leapt to his feet, effectively out of my reach. Frustration welled within me as I attempted to retrieve my book, but his height advantage made it an impossible feat.
"If you want your book back," Potter declared mischievously, "you'll have to play along with us."
I glared at him incredulously. "What kind of childish nonsense is this? You're a Head Boy now, Potter! It's high time you started acting like one!" My words came out with a snap of irritation.
