A Speedy Dismissal
"Let me see..." Rika muttered as she looked over the file onscreen. "Your name is... Q?"
She squinted; she couldn't possibly be reading that right. But, no, several seconds later, and the submitted document still read "Q" in the name section. Just "Q," nothing more. The challenger huffed and folded their arms.
"Yeah, so what?"
"Nothing, nothing." Rika sighed. "All right, you have... zero badges?"
"Um, yes, the guy outside let me in." Q rolled their eyes. "So obviously that's allowed, right? Can't I just go on past the Elite Four now?"
"Normally, we only accept challengers with eight badges—"
Q stood up and slammed their hands on the desk. "Then why was coming in here the legitimate way even an option? Did I not find a clever workaround for getting in here quicker?"
Rika blinked. "Look, kiddo, I have no idea what you're talking about, but—"
"Don't patronize me! If I want do this quickly, I should be able to! Just let me walk around Geeta and see the credits already."
Rika felt a headache coming on. Walk around Geeta? See the credits? What was Q even talking about?
"What do you mean, 'credits'? Like, Academy credits? You'll have to get your grades down at the school if you want that."
"I'm not spending hours at the Academy! I already glitched my way past that," Q retorted. "Can't I just glitch my way through the door over there? Haven't we discovered a way to do that yet?"
"Glitching? I'm startin' to wonder if your file being in here wasn't a glitch..." Rika rubbed her forehead. "Look, just come back after you grab yourself a few badges, and we can do this again, okay?"
"But I don't want badges! I just want to get this over with so I can get to the end of the game already!"
As Q started ranting about things like "speed running" and "hour-long tutorials" and "just wanting to beat last gen's record," Rika leaned down and buried her head in her arms. As tiring as it was to have to sit there and interview every single challenger the League got, Rika was starting to wonder if maybe La Primera should put more regulations in place. Maybe that'd keep people like Q out of there...
