Tonks stared out at the window, rubbing her bump slowly back and forth, her mind blank with grief. Even the baby, usually so lively and constantly shifting, was still.

Suddenly she heard the clink of cup on the table, pulling her from her fog. She then felt a blanket draped around her shoulders. Tonks turned her head slightly to see a cup of tea steaming besides her and her husband's hands adjusting the blanket so that it was more securely around her.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, crouching down next to her. He pressed a kiss to the side of her head. "For your loss." He rubbed his hands up and down her arms, allowing them to brush against her hands, which had stilled on her bump.

The barest hint of a smile flashed across her face before disappearing again. "I just can't believe he's gone. I knew when he said goodbye, before he fled, that it could be the last time I saw him but I hoped, Remus. I hoped with all I had that I would be wrong."

"I know," he replied, pressing another kiss to the side of her head as his hands rested on her shoulders. "I know."

Tonks sniffled slightly, leaning her cheek on his hand. "And now Baby is never going to know their grandpa." She let out a small laugh and shook her head. "Ridiculous, isn't it? My dad is gone and the person I feel most sorry for is the one who won't even know to feel his absence."

Remus shook his head. "It's not ridiculous at all. He was your father, Dora. Of course you'd want our child to know him."

Tonks nodded and turned towards him. "I was thinking though, could we...if it's a boy, could we call him Teddy? I think that Dad would like his legacy to live on through him."

"Of course," Remus replied with a smile. "I think there is no better man to name our child after. Besides, I think Edward is a great name for a child."

Tonks smiled and leaned back. Remus rested his chin on her head and brought his hands down to hold her and their child. Despite the war going on outside, Tonks felt safe and held in their little bubble.
