"What can I do for you? I'm sensing I'm not going to like why you're here. But first of all, Major how are you doing?"
"I'm fine, or at least getting there. Thank you, Sir."
"General, before we come to tell you the reason why we are here, we have to add something to our report from P3R-118."
"The Planet where you got your mind stamped? Why is that?"
Sam took the opportunity to speak "Sir, we left something out of the report because at the time it wasn't necessary for everyone to know. I'm mean it had nothing to do with the mission and we didn't think..." Sam was struggling to find the right words so Jack intervened.
"Look, Sir, with our identities being Jonah and Thera we haven't had any knowledge about earth, about who we were and what was right an wrong. What they couldn't do was erase our characters and some of our feelings. So, what I'm trying to say ist that Major Carter and I found each other between the workers and sort of gravitated towards each other."
Staring at them Hammond could guess in which direction the conversation went.
Jack continued "We didn't know it was wrong and we hope you will concider this as being under alien influence, but we started seeing each other and some sort of started a relationship. But as the memories came back and we stepped through the gate back home it was clear that we couldn't continue this way, so we didn't mention it."
"So why now Jack? Why did the two of you come to see me and tell me?"
Sam found the courage to say what they were here to say "Because I'm pregnant, Sir."
His mouth gaping wide open he couldn't believe what he'd just heard.
His two best officers not only saying that they had startet a relationship while captured on a planet, also this relationship led to a pregnancy.
He started to realize that this was why Sam had been feeling unwell. Oh boy, Jacob is in for some news.
A grin began to appear on his face, watching his insecure subordinates.
"I honestly don't know what to say other than congratulations! Although I wished you'd have come to me straight away. We take your addition to your report and I will make a call on my red phone. Please have a seat in the briefing room and I will call you back in."
As they sat across from each other Jack was the one to speak first "Well, that went well so far. I was certain there would be more yelling."
"I'm not sure if this is a good sign or not. This entire situation makes me even more nauseous than I already am, I fear I might throw up again."
"Carter?"
"It's ok, I think I can handle it."
"How are you really feeling Sam?"
But before she could even consider her answer Hammond opened the door.
Once again, Sam and Jack took their seats before their supervisor, visibly nervous about what to expect.
"Let's begin with the good news," exclaimed Hammond. "You will be deemed under the influence of alien technology, and therefore, neither of you will face a court-martial."
This was an enormous relief for both of them.
"However changes need to be made, Major, due to your condition, you are not permitted on the front line, which means no gate travel. Therefore, I must remove you from SG-1 immediately. You will take over the scientific department here on base and report directly to General Vidrine. Of course once the baby is born, you are free to join an off-world team as you wish."
"Thank you Sir, this is more than I could have wished for," Sam smiled with relief at avoiding a court-martial.
"Are you ok with this? You shouldn't have to give up your spot on SG-1" Jack asked her.
"Sure I'm ok with this Colonel, I'm not allowed to go off world for the time being and I'm not sure if I want to go back after this baby is born. But it's nothing I need to decide just now."
"I concur with Major Carter, I believe it's the optimal solution for everyone involved. And for you, it's attainable to sustain a relationship and potentially start a family, should you choose to," the General stated.
"We haven't really had the chance to discuss this yet. We would like to have some time to clarify our situation before any news of the pregnancy becomes public knowledge. Would that be possible, Sir?" Sam said politely. "We want to be able to inform Teal'c and Daniel first, as they're part of our team and will be affected by our decision."
"That's all right Major. Currently there aren't any missions sheldued for SG-1 while Dr. Jackson is busy translating and Teal'c helping with the cadettes. Take your time to sort things out. And again congratulations to you two! I'm curious as to how Jacob will react to the news of becoming a grandfather again."
Sam was nervously biting her lip as Jack had an expression of shock on his face. Jack couldn't help but contemplate how Jacob, who he jokingly called 'Dad' and had a great amount of respect for, would react when he found out that it was Jack who had fathered his little girl's child.
Hammond couldn't help but burst out laughing at the frightemed expressions of his officers faces.
"Come on you two, you're dismissed. Go home. Report back in a week."
"Thank you General" Jack said, resting his hand on Sam's lower back leading her out of the room.
He smiled at her as they stepped outside, feeling relieved by the outcome of the events. "Shall we head home then?" he suggested warmly. Sam responded with a radiant smile, her bright blue eyes glowing with happiness.
"I need to go see Janet quickly, she wanted to give me some vitamins. How about you head to Daniel's lab and invite the guys over for a team night tomorrow? We can share the news with them then." Sam suggested.
"Yeah all right. See you at the car?"
"Yes, I'm hurrying."
As Jack made his way towards Daniel's lab, Sam headed towards the infirmary.
Daniel's head shot up as Jack entered his lab.
"Jack, how is Sam doing? Have you had a chance to talk to her?"
"Yes Daniel, I did. She's getting better."
"That's good to hear."
"What do you say we meet for team night at my place tomorrow around 1800? Haven't had one of them for a long time."
"I'd like that. I will pick up Teal'c on my way over. Should we bring something?"
"You could bring some pizza, I'll have the beer."
Same time in the infirmary.
"Hey Janet."
"Sam! I didn't expect to see you so soon. Have you spoken to the Colonel yet?"
"Yes I have, Janet. And we already talked to the General."
Janet curiously raising an eyebrow "And? Don't leave me hanging here, Sam. Spill it out." Janet exclaimed impatiently.
Sam filled her in about the news they got from Hammond.
"I'm really happy about this Janet. Tomorrow evening we're going to tell Daniel and Teal'c. I hope they'll understand and adapt to the changes."
"Oh they will, they are rooting for you too, as we all do ."
Sam couldn't help but grin in response as Janet's infectious smile spread to her.
"So you and Jack O'Neill... I want all the jucy details, this calls for a girls night."
"We'll do that soon. I haven't had a chance to discuss everything with Jack yet, but I'm hopeful that by tomorrow, we will have a few things sorted out," Sam explained, her voice filled with optimism and excitement for what was to come.
"That's great, Sam. Just let me get your vitamins and your able to go home. Are you feeling better?"
"Thanks, I'm not sure, the morning was really rough. I know for sure now that I have to avoid the smell of coffee. Other than that I feel a little lightheaded, nausea isn't as bad as it was this morning. But now that I know I'm responsible for a little human being, I'll take care of me a lot better. "
"Ok, let me know if you need anything. Enjoy your leave."
"That I will do. See you Janet."
Sam's heart leaped with joy as she caught sight of Jack leaning casually against his car. With a wide smile on her face, she hurried towards him, her steps feeling lighter and more carefree than ever before. As she approached him, he pulled her into a warm embrace, holding her close to his chest.
Sam felt a sense of contentment wash over her as she sank into the embrace, relishing in the feeling of Jack's strong arms around her. She closed her eyes and let out a contented sigh, cherishing the moment of pure intimacy and connection they shared.
For a moment, it felt like it was just the two of them, the rest of the world fading away to just the feeling of being in each other's arms.
"Come on home."
"So where exactly is home?"
"Until we can find a solution to this issue, we'll stay where you feel comfortable. I'd say let's head to your place to pack some of your things before we go to mine. That way we can be ready for when the others arrive tomorrow. Is this ok with you?"
"Perfect" she beamed at Jack and climbed into the car, feeling grateful for his understanding and reassurance. As they made their way along the road, their hands found each other in a comforting embrace, resting gently on Sam's lap.
Sam couldn't help but feel a deep sense of security and warmth from Jack's touch. It was as if his hand was a steady anchor holding her firmly in place, making her feel safe and cared for.
As they drove on, Sam gazed out the window at the passing scenery, her mind at ease knowing that they were in this together. In that moment, nothing else seemed to matter but the gentle touch and comforting presence of the man by her side.
