Next day at the mountain Sam and Jack partet at the elevator. Sam went down to her lab and Jack went straight to the gym where he found Daniel already working out.
"Hey Daniel."
"Hi Jack."
"How are you today? You look relaxed."
"That I am Dannyboy. But I can see you're very relaxed yourself." he said with a smirk on his face "Your date with Janet went well I assume?!"
"It did."
"Daniel don't leave me hanging here, I want details."
Daniel couldn't help but smile at his friend's eagerness to hear about his date.
"Just let me say one thing. We are a perfect match." he grinned.
Jack was speechless. "You haven't... You mean... It was your first date!... You."
Daniel grin grew wider.
"Daniel you dog. And was it everything you wanted it to be."
"It was more. I'm so happy Jack. I love her so much."
"And you deserve it. Good for you two. Does Cassie know already?"
"No we thought maybe tonight we're telling her. I know it's pretty new with us, but we're sure it's for the long run."
"I'm sure Cassie will love this. She likes you a lot."
"Thanks Jack. So, you're up for a sparring session?"
"Sure, let's start."
Later SG1 was called in for a quick rescue mission for SG-5.
Janet was busy until late after midday, she decided to call Sam to see if she would like to take a break and keep her company while Janet ate something.
When Sam answered her phone, Janet could hear the exhaustion in her voice. "Hey, Sam, it's Janet. I know how busy you are with work, and I just wanted to make sure that you remembered to eat something."
Sam let out a sigh and said, "I completely forgot. I've been so busy today that I didn't even realize."
Janet didn't like her answer. "Why don't we just grab something and eat in my office?" she suggested. "That way you can have a break, rest your feet, and refuel before getting back to work."
Sam agreed, and the relief in her voice was palpable. "That would be great," she said. "I'll just grab something quick from the mess, and I'll meet you in your office."
When Sam arrived she had a plate full of healthy fruits and veggies. And of course her favorite blue jello.
"Hey, Sam," Janet said, smiling. "How's the little one doing?"
Sam looked down at herself with a smile, "I'm good! Just trying to keep up with my work. How are you doing? How was your date with Daniel?"
Instantly Janet blushed. Sam hat to laugh at the look of her best friend.
"I take it your evening went well then?!"
"Yes it did." Janet told her looking up a bit because she had her head down to hide her now fully red face.
"Come on, tell me. What did you do?"
"We went out to this beautiful Italien restaurant, dinner was great and we talked for a long time. At first it was a bit awkward, but after a little time we relaxed and were ourselves again. On the drive back home we held hands. He brought me to my door and gave me a goodnight kiss."
"Oh come on Jan, a goodnight kiss wouldn't make you blush like that."
"I'm not sure if I can tell you this. It's like we were some horny teenagers...we didn't even make ist past the hallway. He took me right there against the door."
Janet hid her face behind her hands. "And Sam it felt so good. We fitted together so perfectly."
"That sounds great. Does it mean there are many more dates to come?"
"Oh for sure. We though to tell Cassandra tonight. I know it might seem a bit early but we are sure Sam."
"I'm really happy for you. And you know Cassie is always welcome to stay with us for a night."
"I think I will take you up on this in the future." Janet said with a wink.
They chattet for a while until they had eaten their meal.
A few hours later Daniel strolled into the infirmary to pick up Janet.
"Hi, you're ready to go?"
"Daniel, yes, let's go."
As they approached the front door, they were met by the sound of a teenage girl's voice shouting, "Mom, I'm starving! When are we going to eat?"
Janet smiled at Daniel and said, "If you wouldn't know she grew up on a different planet you would say she's just a normal american teenager."
Daniel chuckled and replied, "No worries. I was a teenager once too."
They entered the house to find Cassie standing in the kitchen, looking weary and drained from her day at school. Upon seeing Janet and Daniel together, Cassie smiled. "Daniel, I didn't know you were coming. Good to see you." she exclaimed dragging him into a big hug. "and you got Pizza with you. Perfect."
They sat down at the table as Daniel started to speak.
"Cassie, your mom and I have something we want to tell you," Daniel said, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible.
"What is it?"
Janet took a deep breath.
"We wanted you to know that Daniel and me, we're seeing each other... We're together."
Cassie's eyes widened, and she appeared briefly stunned. But before they could gauge her reaction, she smiled and said, "That's cool. I kind of had a feeling. So will it be 'Daniel' or do I have to call you Dad anytime soon?"
Janet and Daniel exchanged a look of relief, glad to have her acceptance.
Daniel leaned towards Cassie to whisper in her ear. "Don't tell your Mom yet, but I would like to be 'Dad' sooner rather than later."
She beamed and a stone fell from Daniel's heart.
They finished dinner, chatting and catching up on Cassie's school schedule.
After dinner, Cass retreated to her room to do homework, leaving Janet and Daniel alone. As they sat on the couch, Janet laid her head on his shoulder, feeling grateful that both her daughter and her partner could coexist peacefully.
"Thanks for being so great with Cassie. " Janet said.
Daniel smiled. "Of course. She's your daughter and beside that she means a lot to me since we found her alone on that distant planet. I care for her for a long time now and I'm not going to stop."
