He pulled Sara in a hug to greet her.

"Hi Jack."

"Hey Sara."

"Whos that in your car? She looks familiar."

"I'll explain it to you later. Let's go to see Charlie first."

"Yeah, let's go." her hands tighten around the flowers she brought to place on his grave.

In silence they stood in front of the tombstone for a long time.

Charlie O'Neil was written in the middle.

Jack let his tears stream down his face openly. He never wants to hide his feelings anymore. Sara gently stroke his upper arm to support him. It was a difficult day for both of them.

"Shall we take a seat?" Sara asked motioning her head towards the bench under the tree opposite Charlie's grave.

"Yes." was all he could say. He whiped away the tears as he sat beside his ex wife. Not knowing where to start she spoke first.

"I have to tell you something Jack."

"Me too, Sara. But please go first."

"I got married again last month."

Jack eyes widened as he looked deep in her eyes.

"I know I should have said something sooner, but I didn't know how to approach the subject with you. It's not that we are on speaking terms a lot Jack."

"Congratulations Sara, I'm very happy for you. In fact I have to tell you something too."

"The woman in your car?" Sara asked carefully.

"Yes, that's Sam. You met her before, he then was a Captain on my team."

"Jack..."

"I know what you're going to say. We did nothing wrong. I'm aware you know about the frat regs."

"So you're going to get married too?"

"Maybe someday" he smiled wishful "but for now what I have to tell you is not so easy for me. Especially on a day like today, but I want you to hear it from me."

"What is it Jack? You can tell me, don't be afraid."

"She's pregnant Sara. I'm going to be a father again."

At first Sara drew in a sharp breath, but then she relaxed visibly.

"And you'll make a great daddy again. Of that I'm sure. And don't let anybody tell you otherwise. I'm happy for you. You deserve a second chance."

He was so greatful for her support and understanding.

"For me it's a bit to late to have another child of my own, but Tom, my husband, has a daughter of his own. She's 12 years old and we get along great. And since her mother died as she was a toddler I've got to be a mother for her. We deserve this Jack. We will never forget our perfect little boy, but it is ok to move on. Maybe next time we can bring our partners along and share this with them."

"Thank you Sara, I would like that."

As they said goodbye to Charlie and headed for the exit he placed his arm around her shoulders for a last hug.

"I would like to meet Sam, do you think it is ok if I stopped by your car to say hello or is this to awkward?"

"As I know her I think she is ok with you saying hello. She's very supportive as for the thing with Charlie. She might be a little afraid of your reaction to her pregnancy."

"That's ok, I promise I will be nice."

"I know that."

Outside Sam waited leaning at the car, gently stroking her belly to calm down her baby. She took a walk in the park while waiting for Jack because she could no longer sit in the car as one foot of her baby kept pressing on her bladder and the other one kicking her ribs.

Sara leaned towarts her ex husband "You're a very lucky man Jack O'Neill, she's beautiful. The pregnancy suits her well."

"Yeah, I don't know how I deserve her, but she made it pretty clear that's what she wants."

"Sam!" he called for her. She twitched as she saw him and Sara move in her direction. She had promised him to stay in the car to not make Sara uncomfortable. To late, all because his child decided to play football inside her today.

As they moved closer she could see a big smile on both of their faces, maybe this wasn't as bad as she thought.

Sara held out her hand for Sam to greet her.

"Hi, I'm Sara, I know we met a few years ago but we didn't get to introduce us properly. Wow, you look beautiful, congratulations Sam."

Stunned she was only able to get out a "Thank you Sara. Nice to meet you too, again." she saw Jack smiling at them.

"You know Sara had some big news herself. She got married last month."

Sam had recovered from her rigidity so she was able to have a normal conversation.

"Then I think more congratulations are in order."

"Thank you. How far a long are you?"

"I'm 6 month along. Still some time to go."

"Yeah, enjoy every tiny bit of it. It's such a precious gift. And if you can't see your feet anymore or they hurt like crazy have Jack give you a foot massage. I know he will try to talk you out of it, but let me tell you he does awesome massages. He's done it before and you deserve it too."

She winked at her.

"Oh look at the time, I think we have to go." Jack said jokingly as both women started to laugh.

"I'll remember that, thank you Sara."

"You're welcome. Now I actually have to go. Keep me updated, I'd love to meet a new little O'Neill."

Jack hugged her to say goodbye "We'll do that. And thank you for being so great about all this."

"Nothing for you to thank me. We both deserve to move on and you got yourself a perfect woman. I wish you all the best. See you soon."

As they got into the car he looked at Sam.

"Have I told you lately that I love you? Thank you for being the incredible person you are."

They shared a long kiss before they went home.

Yes, maybe this day isn't as bad as the last ones.

It was a sunny day in Colorado Springs so they decided to spend the day in their backyard. Sam sat in the lounge chair in the shadow under the big tree. Jack was inside pepairing drinks for them. As he stepped outside Sam recognized he just endet a phone call.

"Thank you Sir. I'll tell her. Yes Sir. Goodbye."

A little confused she asked "What was that all about? Was that Hammond? Please don't tell me you have to go in."

"To answer your questions, yes it was Hammond. No I don't have to go in. In fact I asked him for 2 weeks leave. I know youre supposed to rest and we never take our full amount of leave anyway, so I asked and Hammond granted us the two weeks. I thought we could head up to the cabin. Relaxing, fishing and maybe some hiking if you're up to it."

Sam hadn't expected that but she was pleasantly surprised.

"I would love to. To finally see the place you wanted to share with me for a long time now. When do you want to leave? "

"I thought that we could pack tonight and have an early start tomorrow. After all it's a 16 hour drive up there. If you don't feel like driving this long we can make one or two stops for the night. We don't have to go up there straight."

"We can decide that spontaneously, we can share driving. I'm pregnant not ill, I'm capable of driving."

"I know, we can do that." he said smiling at the thought that he would finally be able to show her his favorite place.

On their way they made one stop for the night before heading to the cabin the next day.

Sam's eyes were closed, she was a bit exhausted but looking forward to 2 weeks of relaxing, cuddling, fishing, fresh air and hopefully some beautiful hiking trails.

But as Jack's truck slowed down to park in front of the cabin her eyes opened at the spot to soak in the view.

"Wow Jack. That's really beautiful." she called.

Jack sidelooked at her: "I told you so!"

He held the car door open for her and helped her out. Placing a hand on the small of her back he guided her towards the cabin.

"Do you want to look inside first or do you wanna see the lake?" he asked.

"I think we start with your cabin."

"Our cabin Sam, it now will be a safe place for both of us. What's mine is yours too now. I don't want you to feel like your visiting my cabin, I want you to feel you're at home."

A single tear slipped down her cheeks.

"I think I can do this. Where ever you are there is home for me Jack."

They smiled at each other and Jack gripped the small box in his pocket unnoticed by her. Maybe this vacation was the right time for doing this he though.

"I'll just grab our baggage, feel free to wander around. Last door on the back is our bedroom, the left door is the bathroom and the kitchen and living room you're already seeing."

He left for the car and Sam took a closer look at each room. She loves the bedroom with the old wooden furnishings. It's so Jack.

She entered the living room, looking at the pictures over the open fireplace. The first one was a picture with Jack and Charlie Kowalski, maybe back in their black ops days. The second was a picture of SG-1, taken at one of their team nights, she remembered that night. The third was a school picture of Charlie, he must have been about seven years or so. He was a beautiful boy, Sam wonderd if their child would look similar.

While placing a hand lovingly over her belly she looked at the last picture, a family picture of Jack, Sara and Charlie.

She hadn't recognized that Jack was back in the cabin and silently watching her. He stepped behind her and whisperd "We can put that picture aside. Its only there for a sentimental reason. It just always was there, this has nothing to do with feelings for Sara."

"No Jack, it's ok, it's your history. It's ok to have those pictures. I was just thinking..."

She turned for her bag, after a few seconds she found what she was searching for. She got an ultrasound picture out of her bag and placed it between Charlies school picture and SG-1s.

"... Just thinking we might want to add this one."

Now it were tears glistened in Jack's eyes. hugging Sam from behind.

"That's perfect. Thank you. So, wanne see our lake?"

"I would love to."

He took her hand in his and guided her around the house. Towards the little pier where two lounge chairs stood. They sat down and enjoyed the afternoon sun.

As Sam took. A seat she leaned her head back to soak up the warmth of the sun shining on her face.

Jack loved nothing more than seeing his beautiful girlfriend finally relaxing and let go of any lingering worries or cares. The peaceful expression on her face filled him with a sense of contentment, and he found himself fully immersed in the moment, cherishing every second they shared together in this tranquil setting.

He placed his right arm around Sam's shoulders and tenderly touched her belly with his left hand, stroking it softly. He need to feel her and to feel the child she was growing.

She she put her head on his shoulders while watching the little lake before she turned her head and looking him straight into his eyes, she placed her right hand on his cheek to guide his head closer to her so that she could kiss him.
