Her hair still damp from the shower he entered the kitchen to prepare the salad, might as well eat something healthy to go with the steaks.

As she made her way out, she grabbed a cozy sweater, knowing the sun was setting and the air would soon turn chilly.

After a delightful dinner, they nestled in each other's embrace, watching the vibrant hues of the sunset gradually fade into the gentle glow of the approaching moon. The night was transformed into a mesmerizing canvas of beauty, and they were content to soak in this moment together.

The first week was full of relaxing, fishing, cuddling and a little hiking. Despite being pregnant for Sam it wasn't a problem going in the hiking trails with Jack. She was fit before because of working in the field for such a long time and now she knew what her body missed the last few month. She loved being outside in the forest enjoying the nature.

So for the next day they planed to get an early start on the next trail, maybe early enough to see the sunrise at Jack's favorite spot.

At 4:30 he had packed his bag and woke Sam "Hey sleepyhead, you up for a beautiful sunrise?"

"Good morning, it's still dark outside, what time is it?"

"The perfect time to get a head start. Come on, you can rest yourself when we come back. Today I want to show you the sunrise."

"Ok, give me 5 and I'll be outside."

Being nearly her entire life in the military it didn't take her long to prepare herself. As promised 5 minutes later she was walking next to Jack up the little mountain.

An hour later they reached the spot Jack loved so much. He hat beautiful memories hiking up here with Charlie, and sometimes bringing a tent to stay for the night. Sara wasn't much into nature and hiking and camping but Charlie loved it.

And he knew Sam loved it too, so it was the perfect spot.

He spread the blanked on the floor, watching Sam for a moment doubting he made the right decision.

"I'm sorry Sam, I thought this was romantic but now it hits me maybe it isn't that comfortable being nearly 7 month pregnant sitting on the floor."

"It's very romantic and it's ok for me to sit on the floor. Your child finally got off my bladder so I'm feeling much more comfortable today. He's stubborn just like his dad."

That made Jack stop in his actions. "He?"

"Just a feeling." she told him to make it clear that she still didn't know the gender of their baby as they agreed.

He smiled.

"Let me sit first and then you can place yourself between my legs and lean into me."

They sat there for a while before the sun finally rose.

Taking in the beautiful view of the mounting painted in the light of the early morning sun Sam was stunned.

"That's beautiful, thank you for kicking me out of bed, I wouldn't have want to miss this." she said, turning round to place a kiss on his lips.

"Sam..." he began as she had turelned around again, both facing the skyline.

She sensed a slight tenseness in him, as if he was searching for just the right words to say.

"Whats wrong Jack?"

"Nothing is wrong, don't worry, I just want to say how happy I am. How happy you make me every day. Thank you for this. Thanks for putting up with me even when I'm grumpy and knowing when to leave me alone and when to not leave me alone. Thank you for giving me a second chance for being a Dad." he was gently rubbing circles on her pregnant stomach "Sam I don't know how or why I deserve a woman like you but I'm not going to question this I'm just being greatful for that." one hand reached behind him to grab the little box he was fumbling with at the first day they arrived here.

"Before I met you my live was empty and not really worth living for. You changed that, changed me. Having you by my side is what completes me.

I promise that I'll ever be there for you, as long as you want me. I want to spend the rest of my live with you. Do you want to marry me?" he asked while placing the open ring box on top of her belly.

Her hands were shaking as she reached for it. Slowly she turned around to face him. Know kneeling between his legs their eyes met. He saw the tears in her eyes wondering if he did the wrong thing but quickly realized these were happy tears.

"I would love nothing more than becoming your wife Jack O'Neill. I want to spent the rest of our life together few."

"So is this a yes?"

"Yes!" she whispered as she leaned forward to grab his face and sealed the deal with a kiss.

Jack took the ring out of the box and put it on her finger. It fitted perfectly.

The last week of their vacation passed by too quickly and they had to make their way back into reality.

But both were so full of energy and love and looking forward to telling their friends the news that they are going to get married.

They talked about it and both were really sure they wanted a small wedding. Only their closest friends, Sam's Dad and her brother with family.

Monday morning, they arrived at the base greeted by the guards before signing in and making their way down the 28 levels of the complex via the elevator.

Upon reaching their destination, they composedly knocked on General Hammond's door, reporting back to duty. As they parted ways, Sam strode purposefully toward her lab, while Jack leisurely headed toward Daniel's lab to catch up with one of his closest friends.

"Major, good to have you back."

"Good morning Bill, what did I miss? You want to fill me in on what's going on while I wasn't here?"

"Sure, should we grab a coffee and meet with the other scientists to catch up on the projects?"

"Yes please, coffee sounds wonderful."

Dr. Lee smirked at her longing for coffee. He knew that the Colonel was a bit overprotective and Sam only gets decaf at home. So this was their little secret.

After the briefing Siler stayed back to catch up with Sam.

"Hey, how have you been? You look rested, that's good."

"Thanks Dan, yeah I feel good. But I'm eager to go back to my work, you know I can't stay away for to long."

"I know, if you need a hand feel free to ask."

They talked a little more before Siler was called to the gate room and Sam started with her work.

Meanwhile in Daniel's lab, he looked up as he heard the knock on the doorframe.

"Jack, hey! You're back, has it really been two weeks yet?"

"Yes two wonderful weeks." He couldn't stop grinning. "Have you ever left your lab in the two weeks oder do I find you at the exact same spot where I left you?"

"Of course I left the lab." Daniel answered and couldn't help but blush a little.

Jack loughed out loud "Of course you left, how's dating Janet by the way?"

"It's good." was all Daniel said.

After a while Teal'c and Captain Jeffery entered the lab as well.

"As the whole team is here now I might as well tell you the news." Jack started "I proposed and Sam said yes, so we're going to get married."

As soon as he had said that he found himself in a tight embrace from Daniel.

"That's great Jack, congratulations! I'm not sure if the base can stand two O'Neills running around here, but I'm very happy for the both you you."

"Indeed O'Neill, I wish you and Major Carter a very happy marriage."

"Congratulations Sir."

"Thank you. What do you say, next weekend team night at ours if we're happen to not be on a mission? Sunday ok for you?"

Everyone nodded.

"Jack I need to ask you a favour?"

"Sure, what can I do for you Daniel?"

"Cassie missed you guys and Janet and I could really use a little alone time, is it ok if Cassie stays the night on Saturday with you?"

"Of course Cassie can stay with us. Let me check with Sam but if it's ok for her Cassie can stay the whole weekend. I'd love to have her around, I really miss her. You sure everything is ok with the two of you?"

"That would be great Jack, yeah, everything ok, Janet seems a bit off at the moment and I don't know why, just want to make sure she's ok."

"Ok, Sam will pick up Cassie Friday after work and we'll have her the whole weekend."

While her fiancé made plans Sam was busy with her work. As she saw Janet entering her lab with a tray full of food she began to notice how late it actually was and that lunch probably was a good idea.

"Janet, why didn't you just call? We could have met in the cafeteria. You didn't have to bring all the food here. By the way that's a lot of food, are we expecting company?"

"No I think we can handle it. Your eating for two and I'm feeling like I'm eating all the time at the moment, so I think we're good."

"What's up Janet? Something bothering you?"

Janet fell silent. She sigh heavily before she answered.

"I'm late Sam."

"Late for what?" she asked, but as she spoke it made click and she knew what Janet was about to tell her. "Oh?... Oh! So your pregnant?"

"I have no prove yet but I'm two weeks late, and I'm never late. And I have a few symptoms which are fitting my suspicions." Sam could hear the worries in Janet's words.

"But that's wonderful news Janet, Daniel will be thrilled."

"We haven't talked about kids, I know he loves Cassie but I'm not sure that's what he wants and I'm not sure if I'm even pregnant. I so missed you the last few weeks, I just needed someone to tell all this. God Sam, it's not like I'm a teenager not knowing about contraceptions."

Sam smiled at how nervous her friend was, she knew at this moment that her best friend would be thrilled to become a mother and Daniel would love this too.

"Ok, I'd say we grab a pregnancy test from the infirmary, you pee on that stick and while we're waiting for the result we'll eat in my lab and I can finally tell you that I'm going to get married."

Janet froze in an instant "You what?"

"Jack proposed and I said yes, so we're going to get married hopefully before the little one here is born."

She hugged Sam as tight as her belly allowed her. "Wow, congratulations Sam. That's wonderful news. Ok, just let me grab the test from the infirmary and you can fill me in on your news."

While they waited the 5 minutes Sam told her everything about the wonderful vacation, the hiking, the fishing and the proposal.

As the time was up Janet wasn't able to look at the stick.

"You have to do it Sam. I'm too nervous."

Sam picked up the stick, checked it out and searched for Janet's eyes.

"Congratulations Mommy!" she told and hugged her, to late she saw the two body's that froze in the doorway. Her fiancé and her best friend trying to puzzle the pieces together of what they just heard.

Janets eyes filled with tears as she turned around to look at the noises behind her. Sam gently squeezed Janet's hand in a supportive way. Then she turned to Jack to push him out of the room.

She stopped as she reached Daniel to lay her hand on his shoulders, Daniel's gaze never leaving Janet's. "Congratulations Daniel. Listen to her before you speak and let her explain."

With that Sam and Jack were gone. Left behind were Janet and Daniel neither of them able to speak.
