Janet couldn't stand his gaze anymore and her eyes found the floor. Tears now streaming openly down her face.

"Pregnant?" was the only word Daniel was able to whisper.

She silently nodded. While she was looking down she couldn't see the big smile that was forming in Daniel's face.

She was so full of emotions that she couldn't sort them out. She felt happy, because she was lucky to carry the child of the man she loved. She was scared, because she wasn't sure if Daniel would want to have a baby, if he blamed her for not being careful enough. She was scared what Cassie would say. Hell she was a teenager, was ist ok for her to become a big sister or does she think Janet might be to old for this? All these thoughts whirling around in her head as she looked up to finally face Daniel.

And as she saw that really big smile across his face her heart stood still.

A wave of relief washed over her. It was as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

In seconds she felt his strong arms surrounding her.

"So this is the reason you were a bit off lately?"

"Yeah I'm sorry Daniel."

"What are you sorry for?"

"First off all I'm sorry for worrying you, I should have talked to you in the first place. But to be honest I was scared how you would react. It's not as if we had planned this. And I'm sure it is my fault this happened."

"Don't you think we're both involved in why this has happened?"

A slight smile spread across her face.

"Yes, but that's not what I meant. A few weeks ago I had to take an antibiotic because of the disease SG-4 brought back from P3X-478. It never crossed my mind that in this time we should have used other contraceptives. So this is my fault, but yes you were involved."

"Janet, it doesn't matter how that little miracle came to be. What's important here is that it did. I'm happy to become a Dad. I don't know how to break the news to Cassie, but I'm sure she will be OK with this."

"Thank you, that's what I needed to hear. I think I would like to tell Cassie straight away, even if it's a bit early I think she deserves to know. But for telling our friends I would like to tell them when everything looks fine."

"Thats ok with me, and I'm sure Sam and Jack can keep a secret." he winked at her.

He took her head in his hands and whispered "I love you Janet Fraiser" before he gave her a loving kiss.

Meanwhile in the mess hall Sam and Jack sought out a table furthest from the next people to be able to speak freely.

"So, Janet is pregnant?"

"We just found out Jack. I really don't know much more than you and I think they are not ready to tell everyone yet. So we should keep this a secret."

"Of course we do, but now we know why Doc has been acting so strange lately."

Sam looked at him in surprise.

"How comes that you did recognize it and I didn't."

Now Jack had to lough out loud.

"I didn't." Sam's look told him he had to explain it further. "Daniel asked me if we could take Cassie this weekend because he felt that something was wrong with Janet and didn't want to worry Cassie. He wanted some alone time with Janet to find out what's bothering her."

"Now he knows. I really hope he will take it well."

"He will, he loves her and he will make a great father. Are you ok with Cassie staying the weekend? I invited the team for a Barbecue on Sunday. If it is too much you just have to say."

"No, that's ok with me. I'm looking forward to having some time with Cassie. It's been a while since we had a sleepover with her. Maybe we can take her to the hardware store and finally buy the paint for the nursery. We could put up the furniture together if she would like to. And we sure will do some girly stuff."

"I thought we could pick her up after work on Friday."

"I'll check with Janet, but it sounds like a plan."

"What plan?" she heard Janet behind her as she and Daniel joined them.

"Everything ok?" Sam asked carefully.

"Yes, we're good. A little shocked maybe, but we're happy." Janet answerd.

"That's good. Your secret is safe with us, so no worries."

"We thought to tell Cassie straight away, she deserves to know it. But for the rest I would like to tell them later, when it's a bit safer."

"Of course. And speaking of Cassie, we thought we could take her for the weekend. We haven't seen her for a long time and would like to spoil her a bit. If that is ok for you we would pick her up Friday after work?"

"That would be great. Thank you you two. I have to tell the General the news, Sam would you like to walk with me? It's on the way to your lab anyway."

"Yes, let's get going. I need to get back to my experiment anyway. See you guys." She said waving at them.

As they walked down the corridor, Sam seized the opportunity to tell her best friend how happy she was about her pregnancy news.

"You realise that now we can do this whole mommy thing together." she nugged her with her shoulder and turned towards her lab. "Good luck with Hammond."

"Thanks Sam."

Her conversation with Hammend went as expected. He was a bit surprised because he didn't know she is seeing Daniel, but he congratulated her and promised to keep the news to himself for the time being. After work she picked up Daniel to go and tell her daughter the news.

"Do you want to tell her alone or should we do this together?" He was curious to know.

"I think it's best if we do this together." she said while opening the front door.

"Cassie! Are you home?"

"In the kitchen Mom!" she shouted as Janet and Daniel entered the kitchen. "Oh hi Daniel, I didn't know you would be here tonight."

"Hi Cass."

"Honey we'd like to tell you something, let's sit down in the living room for a moment ok?"

"Is everything ok?" Cassie wanted to know. She sat down next to her mother, shooting a worried glance towards Daniel. She had noticed how nervous her Mother was.

"Everything is all right. Look Cassie, I'm not sure how to break this news to you."

"Just tell me Mom, it can't be that bad."

"How would you feel of becoming a big sister?" Janet finally asked and stopped breathing.

Cassie needed a second to realise what her mother just said.

"So what you're trying to tell me is that your pregnant?"

Janet nodded, still hadn't breathed yet as she the teenager got up from her place to hug her mother.

"Wow, that's great news guys! I'm thrilled. Congratulations Mom. And also to you Daniel." she told him as she hugged him as tight as possible.

"How do I look after two baby's at the same time? I promised Sam and Jack to babysit, but if you four want to go out together I got two kids to look after." she was wondering and Janet felt a lot of joy that her daughter takes it so well.

"I'm glad you're happy about this. And what's important for me is that you know I'm thinking about you in the same way I think about the little one. You are my daughter and I love you very much."

"That's good to know Mom, thank you."

"And to be clear about that," Daniel said "I also think about you as my daughter Cassie. I love you very much."

"Thank you Dad." Cassandra smiled at him, the first time she actually called him Dad and that made Daniel really proud.

"And speaking of Sam and Jack, they would like for you to stay with them for the weekend? They would pick you up on Friday and we can take you home with us on Sunday after the barbecue. They both are the only ones who know about my pregnancy. It's still very early so we want to wait a little longer to tell people because I'm not that far in this pregnancy."

"I won't tell anybody and I would love to stay the weekend with Sam and Jack."

The three of them cuddled up on the couch and watched a movie. Janet and Daniel couldn't resist stealing glances at each other, their faces glowing with happiness and love. They both cherished Cassie, and the idea of adding another little person to their family filled them with a sense of elation beyond compare.
