The next day Sam was working in her lab as Daniel walked in. She looked up to see her best friend.

"Hey, how are you doing Daniel? How is that translating going on? I heard my dad came by yesterday."

"Hi, yeah he stopped by, sorry that you didn't get the chance to see him."

"That's ok, Jack told me that Dad will be coming in three weeks and will stay for a few. We thought we could plan the wedding for the time he'll be here. I just have to call Mark, so don't make any other plans, ok?"

"Funny you mention other plans."

"Daniel! Please don't say you're not here then. I'm counting on you."

"I'm here Sam, don't worry. But could you do me a favor? I'd like to ask Janet to marry me. Do you think it's possible so ask her at your wedding. Everyone we care about will be around, it would be a great opportunity, but I can understand if you'd like the whole attention on you two on that day."

"No, I think this is brilliant. Of course you can do this. We might think of something special for it. Give me a few days. What does Cassie think about it? Did you talk to her?"

"Of course, she was the first one I asked. She loves the idea and asked me if I would like to adopt her, so that we can legally be a family. It was quite touching."

"Oh wow, what a lovely idea. We will make this special, I promise."

"Thank you Sam." he gave her a kiss on her cheek and stroke her belly in a friendly manner before he left.

She picked up her phone and dialed the number of her brother. Might as well get over it and tell him about the wedding and the date.

"Carter." He bellowed into the phone.

"Hi Mark, it's me, Sam. Look if this isn't a good time, I can call back later."

When he realized who was on the phone, he immediately became more relaxed "No! No Sam, God I'm sorry, I didn't mean to shout at you. The kids are driving me crazy today. It's holiday season, you know. Sorry. How are you?"

"I'm good, I just wanted to call to tell you Dad is coming in three weeks and I wanted to know if maybe you would be able to visit us too?!"

"So you finally are going to introduce us to the father of your baby?"

She struggled a little to find the right words. "It's more like a 'do you want to be here to witness how the father of my baby becomes my husband?' question."

"What?"

If someone had been standing in her doorway, they would have undoubtedly heard Mark shouting on the phone.

She flinched a bit as she had expected an other reaction, but did she really expect him to react differently? Her brother was always a bit protective of her, even at the time when they didn't get along well, and Jack is military, but suddenly she realised that Mark was talking again.

"My Sister is finally going to get married?"

"Yes I am, Mark."

"Wow, that's great, of course we'll be there. Just tell me when and where and we'll be there. I wouldn't miss this for anything. Congratulations. How far along are you now Sam? Can't be much time until the little one will be ready to be born?"

"I'm 8 month along now. Still a bit to go, I'm slowly going crazy because I can clearly witness every day how I'm getting bigger, back is aching, I constantly have to pee, a little tired, I haven't seen my feet in weeks and my boss wants me to take things slowly and reduce my hours. I mean I think more slowly isn't possible at all. But honestly I'm loving every second of this! I wasn't sure if I ever get the chance of having a baby so I cherish everything." and Mark could literally hear her smile.

"It's good to hear you're so happy. I love you Sammie, you deserve every bit of it. Let me know when we should be there and we'll make it."

"I will text you. See you soon!"

Three weeks later when Jacob arrived at the SGC everything was ready for the big day. Tonight Sam and Jack would meet with Jacob, Mark and his family at their home to get to know each other.

Jacob wandered around the base in search of his daughter, of course he would find her in her lab, he smiled.

Even heavily pregnant she couldn't step back and would hoover over some doohickeys as Jack called them.

Jacob stood in the doorway, casting a glance over the room to his very pregnant daughter. A warm smile adorned his face as he announced his presence with a gentle, yet familiar, "Hey Kiddo."

Sam's eyes instantly lit up, her exhaustion from hours of work dissipating in an instant. Her father's arrival brought a wave of joy and relief, filling the room with an aura of love and anticipation. She hurriedly set aside her current task, eager to give him her undivided attention.

"Dad! Hi!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine delight. "I didn't know you would arrive so soon. How are you?"

Jacob lovingly wrapped his arms around his daughter. "I was able to get away a bit earlier as I had planned," he admitted, a twinkle of mischief sparkling in his eyes. "I missed my daughter too much."

Sam chuckled, delighted by her father's words. She leaned back slightly, cradling her growing baby bump with one hand. "I'm doing alright"

Jacob nodded, his eyes filled with pride as he observed her. "I can see that, you look beautiful." he told her while placing his hand on her belly to feel his grandchild. Amazed by the movement under his hand he looked eyes with Sam.

"Wow you've got a soccer player in there?"

Sam smiled bevor she answered "Jack likes to think of hockey player instead of soccer, but in his opinion it will be a ballerina anyway."

"So you still want the gender to be a surprise? I can imagine the betting pool is huge by now."

"He's rooting for a girl, I have a feeling it will be a boy. But no matter what we will be grateful, I can't hardly wait until it's time to meet the little one. What do you say, want to go home and prepare dinner? Mark will be here in a few hours."

"Ok, I'll see if I can find Jack and you can close up your lab."

"Yes Dad, meet me at the elevator in ten."
