Four weeks later Jack found Sam in the nursery changing Henry's diaper.
"Sam, I thought you were ready?"
"We were until your son decided that he needs a new diaper right now."
"Of course then he is MY son." he smirked. "Can I help you?"
"No thanks, I've got it. Let's go, we don't want to leave them waiting for us."
Today was Charlies birthday and like they decided the last time they met at his grave today they will bring their new families with them.
Sara, Tom and his daughter Lucy were already waiting at the entrance.
"Sorry we're late," Sam said as she hugged Sara "but this little guy decided to need a new diaper as soon as he was properly dressed. And away went our perfect timing."
"That's something you have to get used to with having a baby, you'll always be late. It doesn't matter how good prepared you are." she answered amused as she hugged Jack to say hallo.
"Can I hold him?" she asked carefully.
"Of course," Sam said taking him out of the stroller "look Henry, that's Sara, the Mom of your brother were going to visit today."
Sara's outstretched hand trembled slightly as she reached for him, looking at him for the first time.
"He's beautiful. Congratulations you two. You did a god job."
When everyone greeted each other and Henry was back tucked in the stroller they made their way towards Charlie's grave.
Tom and Sam let Sara and Jack lead the way. They new the two of them had to do this their own way, no matter that their new families are with them now.
Jack and Sara stood in front of Charlie's grave for a long time. He had his arm around her shoulder and she had her arm wrapped around his waist.
Silently telling their son about the changes in their lives.
Sam placed the flowers onto the grave which they brought for Charlie, stepped back beside Jack and linked her hand with his. The other hand gently pushed the stroller back and forth.
On the other side Tom stepped next to Sara reaching for her hand. His other hand wrapped around his daughters.
Sam and Jack walked the way back to their house. It was a long walk but it also was a bright and sunny day. She couldn't believe what happened during this last year.
All this month ago she stood as Thera in front of Jonah, saying goodbye, willing to push their feelings back in that room to be able to continue to work together and save the planet.
These days it was still Jack saving earth, but Sam was ok with staying behind. Look what she got instead.
"Carter," Jack growled "I can hear you think. Just enjoy the day please!"
She chuckled "I was only thinking how happy you make me every day. And that we have to thank Administrator Calder for placing us in these underground facility, otherwise we wouldn't be where we are now."
"Yeah, I was afraid to say goodbye to Thera, but thank God I got you instead." he placed his arm around her waist and kissed her soundly.
"Come on home, let's put Henry to bed and we can cuddle up on the couch."
"That's the best idea you had today."
As they settled into the comfort of their home, Sam gently eased herself into the rocking chair, cradling Henry in her arms for his nighttime feeding. The soft glow of the lamp illuminated their intimate corner as she nourished their son, a moment of connection and tenderness that filled her heart with warmth.
In the living room, Jack sat on the cozy couch, patiently anticipating Sam's arrival. The sounds of the household seemed to fade away as he focused on the familiar creak of the wooden floor in front of Henry's room. It was a quiet melody that signaled the approach of his beautiful wife.
With every step that brought her closer, Jack's heart skipped a beat in anticipation.
Sam gracefully sunk into the couch beside Jack, the warmth of his presence enveloping her.
They leaned into each other, sharing a tender embrace, their bodies fitting perfectly in harmony. This simple act of being together, in the quiet sanctuary of their living room, felt like coming home.
Sam released a deep breath "You know, we have made a beautiful son."
"That we did. Thank God you helped me with that." Jack joked as Sam deepened the look on him and smiled.
"I think we would make awesome girls." Jack's heart skipped a beat not sure what she was trying to say.
"Wanna try for the daughter you so desperately want to have?" biting her lip she scooted closer to him until she was able to straddle his lap.
Jack's face lit up with desire for his wife, he placed both hands on her cheeks to draw her closer to him.
"There is nothing I would want more" he whispered before he took her mouth in a passionate kiss. In that breathless moment, they took comfort in knowing that their love was powerful, unwavering, and capable of creating the family they had always dreamed of.
