Chapter 11: The day after
Gohan awoke in his familiar bed, under the same wooden ceiling he'd grown up looking at, in the comfortable home in which he'd spent his childhood. He put on his robotic arm where his arm had been before he'd lost it in the fight against the androids, then put on a t-shirt and jeans, finished it off with his black sneakers and shuffled into the living room, to find his mother, Chichi, focused on the news, a bowl of cereal in her hands.
'Good morning mom,' Gohan said good-naturedly.
'Ah, Gohan, you're up,' Chichi replied, smiling in recognition. 'I was just watching the news, it looks like you and Trunks managed to take down the androids 17 and 18 yesterday at the shopping mall.'
Gohan broke into an ecstatic celebration, his excitement completely uncontrollable. He hugged Chichi, then proceeded to run around and cheer with joy.
'Alright, alright, calm down, Gohan,' Chichi said with a chuckle. 'Why don't we celebrate the victory? I've just got the groceries in. Why don't you get the meat, and I'll make us a big feast?'
Gohan readily agreed, leaving Chichi to get the food ready while he rushed to the store in search of the perfect cut of meat. He eventually found a juicy steak, which he quickly purchased and brought back home.
'Finally, it's time to eat,' Chichi said. 'But first, let us say a toast to your victory, Gohan. Congratulations.'
The two of them clinked their glasses, both overflowing with joy, celebrating their victory together. Then, they dug into the delicious feast. Chichi had cooked Gohan's steak with some special herbs and spices, making it even tastier than he had imagined.
'Mom, this steak is incredible,' Gohan said. 'You really outdid yourself.'
'Well, I'm sure you deserved something special after all you've gone through,' Chichi replied with a warm smile.
The two of them continued to share a pleasant meal, reflecting on their success in the fight against the androids. Gohan was full of admiration for his mother, realizing how lucky he was to have a loving parental figure who was also a passionate cook.
Eventually, the meal came to an end, and Gohan and Chichi went their separate ways, with a newfound confidence and pride in their hearts. The victory against the androids was proof of Gohan's growth as a martial artist, and a reminder of the strength of the bond he shared with his mother. And with that, Gohan smiled as he finally erupted into triumphant laughter, knowing that nothing was impossible anymore.
