Hello everybody.
Yesterday I was playing Marvel's Spider-Man Turf War DLC and goodness grief the only thing more annoying than stealth missions is not just playing as Mary Jane but her.
Seriously if in the sequel Mary Jane got killed, I would be quite happy.
I know it's never going to happen; I doubt Peter and Mary Jane will even break up due to the symbiote or if they do Peter will be 100% at fault, but this must be one of the worst versions.
What really pushed me over the edge? Mary Jane, with Peter's help, illegally got files pertaining to Hammerhead and discovers Yuri's father being a corrupt cop alongside Yuri's rouge takedowns of the Maggia with proceeding to tell Peter that this story is juicier than just Hammerhead before apologizing to Peter about his friend.
Only Peter's response is that it's fine since he understands. Are you kidding me? Goodness grief even among other Peter's like the 90-cartoon series or the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book, for example, this one is truly a whipped toy.
Frankly not even so much of hero/civilian pairings which while are not my favorite, what I have a greater issue with, is taking of these strong characters of hero or antihero only to reduce them to being a whipped toy in a toxic relationship that the writers think is perfectly normal. Utterly degrading and disgusting for this unhealthy behavior portrayed as normal.
That's why relationships either romantic like Cal/Merrin from Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor, Top Gun Maverick's relationships just across the board, or even John Wick's friendships with other characters are so refreshing, and special for being portrayed as healthy.
Regarding Insomniac Mary Jane Watson I completely understand wanting to update the actress background as given how much of a vile cesspit Hollywood is. Only certain scenes almost feel like trying to get us for forcing "Look how great she is" when really is not.
An apartment
Closing the door Mary Jane smiling after having a great day at the Bugle with Robbie loving the story that she put together, stops when seeing Peter Parker standing there in his normal clothes holding a duffle bag.
"What's wrong?" Mary Jane asks in worry.
"Just my stuff, I am leaving, and I don't plan on coming back," Peter says.
"Why? Has an enemy of yours discovered, well you know? Is that what is going on? Please, give me some sort of sign here" Mary Jane says in complete shock.
"No, after the long night I've had for the whole Hammerhead and Yuri mess I woke up in total horror that I just betrayed one of my oldest friends because of your journalism. Yuri is having a very rough time, and your news article gained mostly from illegal information did not help. Yuri's entire past, and all her incidents with her ruthless revenge against the Maggia for the entire world to see. All because it was a better story? You know I bet Robbie doesn't even know where or how you got that information since he would never let you publish it, but maybe he would. Hard to tell with you journalists these days, all the same. No better than Jamerson" Peter says in a calm yet furious tone.
"How dare you, Pete. If journalism is all I cared about I would have posted your secret years ago" Mary Jane replies angrily.
"No, you wouldn't, that's actually the part I'm worried least about. Because you are at least smart enough to know on sticking yourself in the line of fire for all my enemies given our association" Peter says.
"You told me that you were fine with what I did, that you understood," Mary Jane says.
"I was running on fumes, I had busted up who knows how many Maggia problems last night, dealt with saving hostages from Screwball, saving the dons, I was barely keeping myself upright. I only managed to stop Captain Yuri from killing Hammerhead by sheer luck" Peter explains "This article was the last straw as it finally opened my eyes."
"Opened your eyes to what?" Mary Jane asks.
"You spent endless months, even breaking up with me and complaining that I didn't respect you enough since I didn't want you physically on the streets. Never mind you never seem to understand that it has nothing to do with respect, rather you are not me. I've been doing this for years and I still nearly die, more often than I care to think about. You are a reporter with no combat training at all. Plus, you are jealous of every woman in my life besides Aunt May" Peter says.
"That's not true," Mary Jane says briskly.
"Yes, it is. When Felicia returned for saying we might have had a kid only you acted like a child for saying ew with hanging up. Your only concern is yourself. Even with Yuri, you did it for a journalism career and because Yuri is another woman in my life. I can't be with somebody who is that selfish. If I stayed, I would be dishonoring everything I ever learned from Uncle Ben and Aunt May" Peter says.
Mary Jane is left silent because deep down knows he is right while Peter brushes past opening the door and walking out. Only the red-headed journalist has the feeling he won't be coming back.
Hope you all enjoyed this as I enjoyed writing.
One major enjoyable factor in Miles Morales DLC is no Mary Jane Watson around.
Until next time.
