What Lies Inside of Me? - A Wizards & Fosters Fanfiction….

A/N - Well, here is a new story from me! I know...I should be focusing on my other stories, but this idea came to my head, and I had to write it. Plus, I'm excited to see what you all think about it.
So this is a CROSSOVER between WOWP and ABC's The Fosters. If you haven't seen the first two seasons of the Fosters, which Jake T Austin plays, I suggest maybe checking it out before reading this fanfic, or you might be slightly confused about what's going on otherwise; if you've seen both shows already, thanks for sticking around and checking the story out.

It's written as Jesus Gutierrez instead of Adams-Foster because of how this story starts. But do not worry, things will be explained throughout the story about why Mariana Gutierrez isn't with him in the beginning, and yes, she will make an appearance, as well as the rest of the Adams-Fosters. This is going to be a rollercoaster of fanfiction...I plan to update often, but we'll see if life gets busy. Writting is one of my favorite pastimes/hobbies, so I'm hoping it'll often be; I'm going to wait a little and see what you think first of this chapter before I debate about updating. Anyway, please enjoy. Thanks for reading these long A/N notes.

Also, wizards are set around season 4, while Fosters is set around seasons 1-2. Jake T Austin portrays Max Russo/Jesus Gutierrez-Adam Fosters.

I also put this story in WOWP because IDK if crossover popularity was still a thing. So yeah...please enjoy. I'll stop rambling now.

Disclaimer: I do not own Wizards of Waverly Place nor The Fosters.

Chapter 1
Prologue

One evening, the rain poured down on Waverly Place as a young woman rushed through the night, holding a baby close to her. Quickly, the woman turned a corner into a dark ally where a few police officers ran by, not seeing her. Ensuring the officers were no longer in sight, the woman took her chance to escape. Thunder boomed high above the sky, making the sleeping baby in her arms wake up and cry. Hearing the baby cry, the woman instantly tried to soothe it and panicked slightly, worried the noise would alert the officers after her. So, without hesitation, the women rushed into the nearest open place, which happened to be the Waverly Sub Station. It was closed, but with the lights on, the woman entered anyway, not caring because she needed to escape the storm and find somewhere safe for the time being.

Thankfully no one seemed to be around, giving the women an opportunity. After looking around the confusing subway-themed restaurant, the women saw a black spiral staircase leading upstairs from the restaurant. Going over to it, the woman went behind the staircase and hugged her baby close before kissing it on the forehead. Once the baby calmed down, she laid it on the floor behind the staircase and took one last look into the baby's eyes before placing a folded note into its blanket. Standing up, the woman wiped her tears away and started to leave.

All that could be heard from the woman was a "Good luck, Jesus Gutierrez" before she left the restaurant in a rush, feared of being caught. She left in a rush because she heard someone coming out of the kitchen. Once she was out, the woman disappeared into the night, leaving her baby boy behind, with one Jerry Russo to find him later that night after hearing it cry. But little did the Russo family know that baby boy was about to be added to their family for special reasons and change their lives for the better. After adopting the baby as theirs, Mr. and Mrs. Russo promised to protect him and keep him safe by their sides. Thankfully things went well for the Russos, and the baby boy, now named Max Russo, after the adoption, fit right in with their other two kids, Justin and Alex Russo. The five of them were one happy family, but little did they know, the truth would have to come out eventually, and Max, aka Jesus Foster, would have to become the hero of his own story and decide where his true calling lay….

16 Years Later

Max Russo sighed as he sat at the cash register in his family's restaurant, the Waverly SubStation. It was another slow day, and Max was so bored that he started working on his homework for once. Although Max was working on homework and wasn't trying his hardest, his grades were so low that Max figured it didn't matter if the boy did his homework right. The school year was almost over, and Mr. Larrytate had already told Max he would have to either take summer school or repeat the grade. Sighing, Max frowned; no wonder Talia broke up with him. She thought he wasn't the smartest, and just as Max thought the door to the restaurant opened, women walked in, interrupting his thoughts. Looking up from his work, Max eyed the woman in confusion, something felt off about her presence, and Max wasn't sure what it was, but he just shrugged and got up, grabbed a menu, and started to head over to help her out.

Approaching the table, the women sat at; Max was about to hand her a menu when she stopped him, "No worries, I'll take a Brooklyn Bridge six-inch, thank you, Max."

Just like that, Max was stunned, but he smiled and nodded. Shrugging it off, Max assumed this woman had been here before and knew the place well enough. So, Max placed the order into his brother Justin, who worked in the kitchen that afternoon. Coming out of the kitchen, Max noticed that the woman wasn't at her table anymore and looked around in confusion. The sixteen-year-old boy was about to turn back to the counter when he found the women face to face with him, making him jump in surprise at her sudden appearance.

"I knew it was you…."

The statement had surprised Max; his eyes widened, and he looked at her in confusion. But before he could open his mouth to reply, the woman smirked and folded her arms.

"...It took me a long time to find you, and now that I have, it's time to end what should've been dealt with years ago. Say goodbye to your life, Jesus Gutierrez!"

Max Russo didn't understand many things, and he wasn't the brightest in the Russo family, but he wasn't fully dumb. Besides, what confused Max the most was this random supposed customer calling him Jesus Foster?... But more importantly, telling him that it was time for her to end his life. Before he could react again, the woman before hissed super loudly, and as the hiss turned into a screech, the woman turned into a black-outlined figure that bared white teeth at Max before she charged at him. Max yelled in surprise as he tried to duck, but unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough, and the women black figure thing managed to claw him on the arm.

Soon, Max found himself trying to get up from his dodge angle when the figure thing managed to jump onto his back and tackle Max to the ground. The two were starting to wrestle with the things trying to kill Max and Max trying to save his own life. Unfortunately, the figure thing had Max pinned down, but thankfully, his brother Justin came running out of the kitchen when he heard Max yell for him to help. Seeing his brother being tackled on the ground, Justin pulled his wand out and used a spell to get the figure thing off his younger brother. Once the figure thing was blasted across the room, it flung into the wall and hissed as it landed. As the figure thing rose, it growled and glared at Justin and Max before baring its teeth at them.

However, instead of attacking the boys, the figure said, "This isn't finished, I will be back, and you will be dead, Jesus Gutierrez, even if it's the last thing I ever do!"

With that, the figure jumped into the air and vanished, confusing Justin and Max. However, Justin and Max turned to one another once the shock wore off.

"Thanks, bro…" Max stated as he smiled weakly.

Nodding, Justin puts his hand on his brother's shoulder. "...Anytime. Are you okay?" Justin questioned as he looked over his brother for injuries, frowning when he saw the claw marks on Max's right arm, there were three of them, and they looked deep. "Want me to heal you?"

Opening his mouth to answer, Max was interrupted by footsteps coming downstairs. Justin and Max looked in the general direction and saw their mother, father, Alex, and Harper all rushing down, no doubt worried and wondering about what had happened.

"What's going on here!?" Mrs. Russo questioned, worried once she saw the slightly messed up restaurant. However, she paled when she saw the claw marks on her youngest son's arm. "Oh my god Max! Are you okay?" Mrs. Russo questioned as she rushed over to look it over.

Max reassured her when Mr. Russo came over and asked, "What happened here? Max….Justin…." Mr. Russo finished as he eyed his sons.

"Something just attacked Max," Justin explained as he frowned; instantly, everyone around them went quiet, making Max even more nervous. Justin eyed Max, then their father, and said, "They found him, Dad…he isn't safe with us anymore." Justin finished, frowning as he looked at Max again, causing Max to look at his family in confusion.

However, based on what Justin said and only his father and mother reacting nervously, Max assumed that Alex nor Harper knew what Justin meant. Seeing his parent's pale faces as they eye one another, Max frowns, still confused by everything wanting answers to what had even happened or what Justin meant by they found him. Things weren't making sense, and Max was tired of being left in the dark, so Max eyed his father after taking a deep breath.

"Dad….What is Justin talking about?"

There's silence for a moment as Mr. Russo tries to think of ways to explain things or lie his way around this. Mrs. Russo squeezes Max's arm lightly and sighs, "Jerry, I think Max is old enough to know…." Mrs. Russo reasons as she purses her lips together but sighs.

For a moment, Mr. Russo debates this in his mind, but then he makes eye contact with his youngest son and knows it is time. Sighing, Mr. Russo says, "Alright, everyone, let's go to the wizard's lair. I'm calling a family meeting…."

Just like that, the Russos and Harper found themselves in the wizard's lair gathered around. Max sat on the couch with Alex as their father, and Justin looked for something. They were about to discuss whatever it was, and Max was sure it would have to do with what had just happened in the substation. Little did Max know that his whole life was about to change….
