Konnichiwa! Here's a short fic about Lawlu. The tradition mentioned is just a thought of mine. Hope you enjoy reading!

The Heart pirates were docked at an island when they saw NewsCoo flying and called him to buy newspaper. When Shachi opened the folded paper, he saw the headline on the first page which was accompanied by a grinning face of a certain pirate.
Pirate King Monkey D Luffy wrecks havoc at marine G9 base!
Before he could read any further, there was a huge wave that washed over the shore, causing Shachi to get wet. When the water spray subsided he could see a small sea king emerging which shocked him and his nakama that were present. From the corner of his eyes he saw his captain, Trafalgar Law summon a room, getting ready to amputate the Sea King but before he could do so the Sea King spit something at his captain's feet and returned to the ocean.
Law looked at the thing which seemed like an envelope and box with suspicion but saw the familiar symbol of strawhat which relaxed him. He took it, read and sighed.
"Captain?" Bepo questioned.
"There is a log pose in this box. Follow that to our next destination." Law replied to Bepo, giving him the box and continued while looking at the nakama present at the moment, "Gather supplies and lots of meat, Strawhats are throwing a party."
Everyone gave a cheer and went to do so. Law also going to his destination since he has to pick up something from a shop.
After few hours when they had submerged and going at a steady pace in Invincible Tang, Law took out the thing, the gift which he picked for Luffy looking at it and contemplating whether to give it or not. The gift would cause a lot of ruckus and he don't know how it will turn out, which is the main problem. But the one thing he is sure is that he will be hated by lot of people if Luffy accepts his gift.
Luffy was enjoying the party and mingling with people a lot. He called all the people that he could think of and ji chan even called Torao's grandpa and are sitting with Shanks, tou chan and Sabo. Luffy approved of his ji chan bringing Torao's grandpa since he was thinking of returning the courting which Torao started. Good thing Robin and Sabo had told him what courting means, if not he would have thought that Torao gave him gifts as friends. Torao is really silly when it comes to somethings but in reality he is so cool.
"Luffy~" Luffy was broken out of his thoughts by Boa Hancock's voice. She brought a cart full of meat which made Luffy's eyes sparkle at the thought of eating it.
"Luffy san!" "Mugiwara." "Lucy!" "Luffy senpai!" Luffy saw Coby, Katakuri, Rebecca and Bartolomew calling him and dragging cart of meat. Luffy got excited at the prospect of having more meat. From the sidelines the Strawhats and Sabo who was sitting with the elders looked at the people suspiciously and with a thought that something idiotic is going to happen.
"You guys are so nice to bring this much meat for me!" Luffy exclaimed happily.
"Of course, anything for you Luffy~" Hancock said shyly.
"This is actually my courting gift to you, Lucy! But I also have a ring!" Rebecca said happily.
"Excuse me!" All the present people near Luffy exclaimed incredulously.
"I am sorry to say but i won't allow you to court him since I want to do it!" Coby said politely though he was tensed.
"We already are on the verge of getting married. Do not come between us," Hancock flipped her hair and replied arrogantly.
"I know Luffy senpai more than you guys and it's my dream to marry him!" Bartolomeo stated.
"I am also interested in courting the Pirate King," Katakuri said seriously.
Thus began these people arguing and Luffy standing in shock and looking at them. If he remembers correctly he had told Hancock numerous times that he is not interested and he didn't even knew about other people's feelings and all these was making him agitated because he didn't asked for this and is not interested.
Suddenly all of them turned towards Luffy and with determination brought out the black box and opened it to show the ring inside.
"Will you marry me?" All asked together to Luffy. They were giving stink eye to each other and waiting for Luffy's reply. The Mugiwara's except Chopper and Ussop who were shocked were giving those people nasty glares.
"If they really knew Luffy, they would have thought wisely about the ring," Sabo commented his tone full of anger.
"What does that mean?" Questioned Sengoku.
"The brat even though wears jewellery he doesn't like it much and he fights mostly with fists, so the ring would be crushed and all," Garp replied.
"Dahahaha, that's so like anchor. Who do you think is perfect for anchor, Sabo?" Shanks said amused.
"That person came at the wrong time," Sabo commented flatly.
Meanwhile Trafalgar Law and the Heart Pirates chose that time to enter the party without Luffy knowing but Nami saw and went to greet them. Law seeing the people proposing and arguing over Luffy's hand, decided to not give the gift to Luffy and leave from there since he is not great and strong like the people who are proposing to Luffy. He had hoped that with his Yonkou status which he got by fluke he would be equal to the Pirate King but alas that's not possible. He turned to leave but was stopped after hearing Luffy's voice.
"I don't wanna marry any of you!" Luffy said frustratingly and before anybody could say anything Luffy saw Law turning as if to leave and called him.
"Toraoo! Wait!"
Law sighed and turned towards Luffy seeing him coming and getting the glares from the people that surrounded him which he ignored. Luffy when he reached him, gave him a hug and grinned at him.
"What took you so long? I was waiting for you!"
Law took few steps back, creating a distance between them which made Luffy sad since it was written all over his face but ignored it and said, "My apologies. I have brought your favourite. We can talk later."
"How can he be so rude to Luffy!" Hancock commented while the rest of suitors were giving disappointed states.
Law ignored it and once again started to leave but was stopped by Luffy gripping his hand.
"My gift?" Luffy asked in a small voice.
"I will give it to you later," Law assured him but when he tried to free his hand he couldn't. He saw Luffy with a determined face and knew that he had to unfortunately give the gift in front of everyone instead of giving him something else but still decided to try saving himself from embarrassing.
"I want my gift Torao! I even brought you a gift!" Luffy said demanding.
Law was shocked at that and so were the suitors in the background. Law asked uncertainly, "You brought me a gift? Why?"
"I wanted to return your courting gifts with my own!" Luffy said happily.
"Courting gifts?" Law asked question mark on his face.
"The gifts which you gave were courting gifts right? Robin and Sabo told me about your hometown tradition!" Luffy replied happily.
"But Flevance don't have courting gift tradition."
All the happiness drained from Luffy's face when Law said and so were Robin and Sabo's since they were the one to tell Luffy about Flevance and it's traditions since they heard about it.
"Is that so?" Luffy asked disappointedly. His grip on Law's hand loosen. Law was a bit shocked at Luffy's reaction but he could feel that his nakama were looking at him as if encouraging him to talk about the actual Flevance tradition instead of what the rumours were.
Law sighed, took Luffy's hand which was gripping his and properly held it and said, "Luffy ya, Flevance don't have courting gift or tradition. Or rather we don't call it courting. We call it promise gift or devotion gift. It's like when a couple gift some kind of jewellery that represent theirself to each other. It's to remind that they are devoted or promised a forever to each other. And those gifts were not that kind of gifts."
After listening to Law's explaination Luffy, the Strawhats and Sabo became more dejected.
"But," Law said which gained their attention. Law decided to give the gift so as to close the topic of feelings. So he pulled out a ribbon and held out in front of Luffy saying, "Since you don't like wearing jewellery that much and your favourite hat's ribbon is not in good condition, I thought that you would want to replace it. And this is actually a promise gift. If you are not interested, I can just throw it away."
Luffy looked at the ribbon reverently and took it as if Law handed something breakable. The ribbon was divided into two colors. One half was red and the other half was black with yellow spots. And the ribbon also had their pirate flags at the ends.
After what seemed like eternity but were only just few moments passed Luffy took his hat off giving it to Law and happily saying, "Torao knows me the best! Put this on my hat. If I put it, I would lose. Oh and Shanks you won't mind right?" Luffy looked at Shanks but was delighted when Shanks replied.
"Nope. After all it's yours anchor!"
"Are you sure? Do you understand that people will know what exactly this means?" Law asked trying to confirm. He couldn't believe that Luffy would choose someone like him rather than the suitors that he have which were fuming.
"Stop being an idiot Torao! Put it on!" Luffy demanded a bit irritated.
Law took the hat, removed the red ribbon and tied the ribbon that he had custom made on the hat, giving it back to Luffy. Luffy looked at the hat admiring the ribbon.
"Sorry if it seems like a bit girlish," Law said.
"You are thinking too much Torao!" Luffy said while wearing his hat. He then turned towards Nami and said excitedly, "Nami give me the gift so that I could give to Torao."
Nami just smiled at Luffy's excitement and gave the box to Luffy which he gave it to Law.
"So this might be what your hometown calls promise gift from me!" Luffy said jovially. Law smiled a bit at Luffy's happiness and opened the box. In the box was two black ear piercings with yellow outer line and red inner line.
"These are nice. Thank you Luffy ya," Law said trying not to get emotional but couldn't keep it from his voice.
Law gave Luffy the box to hold and took out his top piercings.
"Can I do it?" Luffy asked.
"You didn't wanted to tie your ribbon and now you want to put my piercings?" Law said teasingly a small smirk on his face.
"Stop teasing me. Meanie Torao!" Luffy harrumphed. He took one piercing from the box and handed the box to Law. Luffy stretched a bit and as gently as possible tried to put the piercing in Law's ear which he was a successful. Luffy with same determination put the second piercing too.
Luffy grinned seeing the piercings and Law's little smile. He then raised himself, getting on his toes and kissed Law. Law was shocked and so were the rest present there. Law then closed his eyes and reciprocated the kiss. After few moments they broke it smiling.
The suitors were disappointed with Luffy's and Law's relationship. Hancock and Bartolomeo were crying dramatically about how Luffy should have been there's which everybody ignored. Coby and Rebecca were also crying but because they found the whole scene between the two emotional. Katakuri though disappointed was really happy for the two.
But the most happiest after the the new couple were the Strawhats, Hearts and Sabo. They all saw how Law would know everything about Luffy even with Luffy not telling him anything and being there for Luffy whenever he needed. Luffy would be more happier and brighter whenever he would spend time with Law or even talk about him. They always wished that their respective captain would just get together so that they didn't had to see their pinning but now they realised that they have to watch the two being lovey dovey in their own way which will be irritating but the crews will manage.
"Sanji! Niku and Onigiri!" Luffy demanded. Luffy held Law's hand and went towards his crew while Law had a smile on his face at Luffy's antics.
