Isa's Pov

Forks High Cafeteria

As I walk through the doors all eyes are on me watching while I head towards the lunch line to get something to eat. So far my day has been good, I've met some new classmates who invited me to sit with them.

I still haven't figured out why one of my gifts has been going haywire since I arrived here in Forks 4 days ago, I'm hoping it has something to do with finding my mates I've been alone for too long.

"Hey Isa over here,'' Jessica calls

"Hey Jessica, thanks for letting me sit with you and your friends,'' I say

"Your Welcome Isa, How's your day going so far?'' Jessica asked

"It's been good. Everyone I've met so far has been very friendly and helpful,'' I said

"That's good,'' Jessica said

Eric suddenly appears and squishes into a seat next to Bella.

"Isa, this is Eric,'' Jessica introduces

"Hi Eric, Nice to meet you,'' I said

"You as well Isa,'' Eric says

"Hi we're Mike, Ben and Lauren,'' Mike introduced

"Hi I'm Isa, nice to meet you all,'' I say

"We have another friend Angela around here somewhere I'm sure she'll be here soon,'' Jessica says

Suddenly, a Flashbulb blinds Isa. She looks up at the photographer, Angela, Jessica's sweet, low-key, shy friend.

"Sorry, needed a candid for the class yearbook,'' Angela says

"All good, hi I'm Isa I'm assuming your Angela?'' I asked

"Yes I am, Lovely to meet you, Isa,'' Angela says

"So what brought you to our rainy town?'' Lauren sneered

"I'm looking for an old family acquaintance that I've heard moved here recently, I have some things I need to sort out with them,'' I explained

"Oh? Who?" Lauren asked

"LAUREN, That is extremely rude to ask," Jessica and Angela shouted

"Jess, Ang thank you for sticking up for me," I said

"Lauren that is none of your business, you snotty no…"

The double doors of the cafeteria suddenly swung open as five of the strangest people I've seen walk in, three guys, and two girls all chalky pale and devastatingly beautiful. They moved through the room with effortless grace and take a table furthermost from my table, I leaned over to Jessica and Angela.

"Who are they?" I asked

"The Cullens," Angela said

Jessica leans in, swinging into gossip mode. "Doctor and Mrs Cullen's foster kids. They all moved down here from Alaska two years ago."

"They kinda keep to themselves," Angela said

"Jessica: Because they're all together. Like, together, together. The blonde girl, Rosalie, and the lanky blond who looks like he's in pain, Jasper…"

Rosalie, 18, long blonde hair, model beautiful, and knows it. Alongside her is Jasper, 18, with honey-blond hair, tall, lean, and slightly tortured.

Jessica: ... they're a thing. I'm not even sure that's legal.

"Jess, they're not related," Angela says

"Jessica: But they live together. And the little dark-haired girl, Alice, she's weird…"

On Alice, 17, pixie-like, rail thin, light on her feet with short, black hair going in every direction. Emmett, 17, big, brawny, like a weight lifter, but with a playful glint in his eye. She hovers over, Jasper, 18, with honey-blond hair, tall, lean, and slightly tortured.

"... she's with Emmett. I mean, Dr Cullen's like this foster dad slash matchmaker," Jessica says

"Maybe he'll adopt me," Angela laughs

I laugh, liking her... then I see the last Cullen enter -

EDWARD, 17. Lanky, with untidy, bronze-coloured hair. He seems inwardly turned, mysterious. More boyish than the others.

"Who's he?" I ask

"That's Edward Cullen, Jessica says

Suddenly, Edward looks over, as if he heard Jessica from across the room. His eyes meet mine, but he seems… confused, I quickly looked away.

"He's gorgeous. But apparently, no one here is good enough for him. Like I care. (she does) Anyway, don't waste your time," Jessica says

"I wasn't planning on it," I say

But I can't help but peek at Edward again. He's staring at me outright now, with a slightly frustrated expression that unnerves me, I hide behind my hair.

"Wait, Dr Cullen? What's his full mane?" I asked

"Why? What's it to you? It's not like the Cullens would give someone like you the time of day," Lauren sneered

"It's an innocent question, Mallory. I met a guy with the same last name 5 years ago after I was in an accident, and I've been wanting to find him to thank him for his help," I explained

"Dr Cullen's full name is Carlisle Cullen," Angela said

(I'm suddenly overcome with intense white-hot anger hearing that name.)

"Oh, ok," I quietly mumble

"Isa, are you ok?" Angela quietly asks

"Ah, yeah I'm fine, I'm suddenly not feeling well. If you'll all excuse me I think I'm going to swing by the school nurse before heading to my next period. If I don't see you before the end of school I'll see you all tomorrow,'' I say while gathering my things

"Oh, would you like some company, Isa?" Angela and Jessica asked

"That would be nice guys thanks," I say

(Isa, Angela and Jessica gather their things and head out towards the nurse's office.)

Rosalie's Pov

"Hey, Roza are you alright?" Jasper asked

"Yeah I'm fine I was just thinking about the conversation I had with Mike in English," I explained

"Oh, did you happen to find out anything about the new girl?" Jasper asked

"Ah yeah her name is Isabella but she prefers to be called Isa," I told Jasper

"Oh. How's your chest?" Jasper asked

"It doesn't hurt at the moment. It's really weird, it's as if our mate is in the lunchroom with us," Rose said

"Yeah, maybe. My chest is the same," Jasper said

Edward's Pov

"Hey Edward," Everyone said

"Hey guys," I say

"Edward can you hear the new girl's (Isa) thoughts at all?" Jasper asked

"No, I can't it's like her mind isn't there but is if that makes sense?" I said

"Hmm, I wonder if she has a gift that allows her to block vampire's gifts," Jasper muses

"If that's the case then her gift has to be fairly strong for it to work while she is still human,'' Alice says

"We'll need to discuss this with Carlisle and Esme tonight. But for now, we keep an eye on her," Rose says

"Alice can you see what class she has next?" I asked

"Isa has biology next period with you Edward," Alice says

"Ok, so here's what I'm thinking. I use class time to try to get to know Isabella, so I can try to get an idea whether she is a threat to the family or not," I suggest

"That's a good idea, Edward, based on what I picked up from her emotions before she left she feels a deep seeded hatred for Carlisle, I'm not sure if it's our Carlisle or someone different. So keep your guard up and please be careful," Jasper said

Suddenly the School Bell Rings

"Of course Jaz, I'll see you all after school," I say before going to class

Time skip to after school (Isa left after lunch after seeing the nurse)

"Hey Edward, I gather Isa wasn't in class as I could see you?" Alice asked

"Hey Alice, Yeah Isa was sent home by the nurse for the rest of the day, after coming down with a headache and stomach ache," I explained

"Well, let's head home Carlisle and Esme are probably waiting for us," Alice said

"Hey Jaz, I don't think we should mention to Carlisle about me not being able to read Isa's mind," I say

"Why?" Jasper asked

"I don't think it is a good idea to bring that up until we know more about Isa, also if Isa turns out to be yours and Roza's mate I just don't want anyone to react prematurely before we have an idea about who Isa is," I explained

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea," Rose says

"Ok, so we're all in agreement we don't mention this to Carlisle?" I asked

"Yes," everyone said

(The Family had a meeting much the same as the one in Chap 2)
