William gets into an altercation and Jane heals him
I hear a commotion coming from the entrance of the building, and I hurry out of my last class. Will was supposed to take me out tonight and he promised to meet me at the entrance. The last thing I want is for him to get caught up in some pointless brawl, making us late for our reservation. Sometimes, he really has a death wish - defending people despite being powerless. I've always admired his strong sense of justice, but we've been looking forward to tonight for a month, and justice will have to be put on the back burner for now.
I hurried in the hopes that I could put an end to the brawl before it began.
"You fucking LEECH!" I heard a man scream before the sickening thump of a body hitting concrete.
My stomach drops as I hear the familiar sound of William's cough and his groan as he tries to rise.
"Conjure: Blades", my eyes glow as I instinctively copy the ability, pushing past the crowd into the courtyard. That damned blue haired prick, Cena, went after William again!
Faster than he could register, I slammed into Cena, throwing him across the courtyard before his back slammed into the trunk of a nearby oak tree. In an instant, I had the asshole pinned against the tree, his green eyes wide with surprise. A black blade hovered right above his jugular, as my hand pinned his throat against the tree.
"Give me one good reason to not beat the shit out of you right now." I snarl as I tighten my grip on his throat.
"Jane!" I hear William yell from across the courtyard, and my fury is replaced with concern for a moment. Blood is pooling from multiple knife wounds, and bruises are beginning to form on his exposed skin.
I snarl as I raise my fist and punch the tree, causing the trunk to shatter. As the tree topples over, I grab Cena by his shirt and toss him for a second time back across the courtyard.
Before the dust settled, I was already looming over this asshole, pinning him his face to the floor with my foot.
"I don't want to hear your excuses Cena. This is my final warning. If you come after Will again, I. Will. End. You." I snarl, before hurrying over to my fiance who was struggling to stand.
"Is there a healer around here?" I yell frantically.
Thankfully a young blue haired girl rushes to the courtyard. As we work to heal William, I count his injuries: one stab wound on his left shoulder, one slash wound across his chest, three broken ribs, a fractured wrist, a bruised tailbone, multiple surface scrapes, and a nasty looking gash that looked like a failed attempt at breaking a fall. Each bruise and cut is a stab to my heart and I choke back tears as I heal my beloved fiance.
"Jane, sorry about the commotion."
My silly man apologizing for doing absolutely nothing causes the first sob to escape my lips. My tears drip down my face, onto his arms, chest and face. I can't form any words from my grief and anger.
"At least my handsome face is still intact." he quips as he flashes me a reassuring smile. I can't hep but let out a half sob-laugh at his morbid humor.
Thanks to my accelerated healing, William sits up with a groan. He takes my hands in his and places a gentle kiss on each palm.
"Thanks for patching me up, pretty girl." he smiles, leaning over to give me a peck on the cheek.
I draw him into hug, thankful that he's alright. I thank the healer for her help, and help my fiance stand.
As we turn to walk away, I hear Cena yell, "You may have won this time, Jane, but you're nothing more than that cripple's whore. He'll bring you down and the rest of society with - ARRGGHH!" he yells as twenty black daggers materialize and pin him to the ground. I'm done with this asshole and walk away without another word.
We walk back to our apartment in silence, and William lets me use the bathroom to cleanup before heading in himself. I lay on our bed as I hear the water running, so lost in my thoughts, that I don't notice William until he climbed into bed with me and pulls me into his embrace. His warm hands run through my hair as he holds me close, neither of us breaking the silence.
"Jane, do you think we should break things off?"
"Why the hell would I want that?" I ask, completely dumbstruck.
"'The Cripple's Whore'? Do you think that I'm blind to how my status affects you?" he replies, his eyes not meeting mine.
"Will, I love you and I know you're more than just your lack of ability. Someday, I hope you'll see that as well. I don't care what people like Cena think of me." I smile sadly as I lift his chin to meet my face.
He smiles a watery smile as I squeeze him tighter.
"I may be a god tier, but it all feels empty if I can't be with you." I sigh into his chest.
"Thank you, pretty girl, I love you too." he replies as he kisses the crown of my head.
"Will, what if we moved away to a mid-tier district? Somewhere with fewer high tiers. I could blend in as a mid tier, and you could blend in without an ability."
He takes my hands in his, "Jane, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and no matter how many times I'm beat up, I'll stick with you until you get sick of me. But, I don't want you to regret leaving everything behind - your prestige, your status and your wealth. If you think this is a good plan, let's do a trial run. If you still want me by the end of it all, I'll marry you with no regrets in my heart."
I feel like I could melt. How did I get so lucky with this wonderful man? I brush his locks out of his eyes as I lean in for a slow kiss. With my body, I re-affirm him of my boundless love and adoration. As he collapses onto me afterwards, I whisper into his ear:
"You'd better fix a date for our wedding because I'm not going anywhere."
